Could it pump gas into the cylinder and hydrolock it?
the cam gear wasn't loctite on, it fell off sitting at a light and shut off. my mechanic said it probably bent the valves

I'll start the bidding at $100.
I can't think of a way that a fuel pump issue would lead to a bent valve, can you explain that?
sorry its been a while, here was the original post i believe boost + detonation caused the issue

Hello All,
its been a long time since I been on here, I have a 1998 turbo blackbird that I enjoyed for quite some time. I had an issue with the fuel pump that bent a valve, I had the motor dropped and the engine rebuilt lasted me a few months until the cam gear fell off..... since then its been sitting in my friends garage collecting dust which is a shame, life changes are forcing me to sell and hopefully find someone who enjoyed it as much as i did. these photos are when it was last running, the paint i am sure is scratched up and will need to be repainted from sitting in a garage. I will try and get some updated photos. I have put 20k+ into this bike, accepting a reasonable offer. Bike is located in Springfield MA

its odd, was still making plenty of boost just seemed to bogg down for a sec then the turbo would come on hard and blow the tire out.. and lots of smoke not from the tire

but so far so good everything went smooth and im excited to see how much power she makes...
how much?
should be around 400hp @ 20lbs and pump gas..if i run race gas 35lbs should be over 550 but its completely pointless to run that much boost
i get her this weekend she is finally someone complete...possibly a video too
Have you reinforced you joints, or are you expecting them to pop every time you hit the gas?
Instant wedgie
JB Weld
more problems, the turbo was blowing smoke like a fog machine... very embarrassing

Hmm.. Those are some pretty stout numbers you're posting. Which turbo did you end up using?
65mm hybrid
And what cams/headwork have you had done? What RPM are you running to?
Ill have to have redcam chime in on this one, Running to 13500 RPM

This was my bike before Brent bought it from me. It went many times over 200 mph and many miles under heavy boost....most likely detonation happened when the fuel pump lost voltage for a second or 2 due to loose wireing...it is carbed not FI.
Late to the party I know, but since somebody already resurrected it.....
Isn't this the same XX that was in the International Motorcycle Show a couple years ago?
if you are referring to the one at the javitz in 07 then yes

What's wrong about not knowing the temperature of your swingarm nut?
its an important nut

Need both for a 97 bird

I forgot to take unboxing pictures, Stan did an excellent job on the crate.. I was expecting some headache getting the engine back in since it was quite troublesome to take out..

Got a full electrical harness no ECU for a fuel injected XX
any offers?
The 97-98 were carbed and not FI
your right...I just assumed because this came in a box of parts with my bike. Anyone know how to identify the year?

Stan found 2 je pistons and carillo rods, and a bunch of rings.. will be sending it out with a few other things this friday...
also found a set of (i beleive) stock hayabusa and blackbird pistons if anyone wants them
To get the rash out we are going to have to bore it, Brent. Oversize, pistons?
no i think they are stock size, not 100% sure...maybe it would be cheaper to get a head off ebay or the board? what do you think?

has a dyna 2000 ignition system, we dont know what was done to the crank just that it was prepped by fallicon
Ahhh, so THAT'S who made the trigger for MSD. I often wondered about that..
The crank doesn't have the Falicon "Polished & Lightened" look so it was probably just balanced, journals chamferred & polished then sent back. Probably has the balancers removed too..or at least disengaged. (Best guess..)
Brent: How is fuel managed? Stock ECU + PC3? If so, then there is no boost referenced compensation, so I'd picture a BEGI style FMU in there as well, which is fine for most street purposes. I wouldn't push it above 12 PSI, personally, simply because I have seen how erratic they can be after a little wear.
Stan: How damaged/gouged are the crank journals? Honda has some pretty sizable bearings that may save a few dollars if it were just sent off for repair.
If you're looking to make this setup bulletproof, now is the time to consider changes, btw. Fuel pump, injectors, and fuel controller would be high on my list..
Its carbed with a big fuel pump from a volvo, the computer is part of the dyna 2000 yes bgi fmu
hopefully these pictures help
