  1. Need some advice on steering. If you take off the steering, you will see two nuts. The nut at the bottom actually clamp to the nut on top. My question is what are these two nuts called and how does it effect the steering ?
  2. Hi Guys, Thanks a lot for the advice. More advice are welcome. Did the servicing during the weekend. Went to Hatyai, Thailand 550 km away just to test the bike. The highway was packed with traffic. It was a long weekend over here. Start to rev to higher rpm (around 7500 rpm) whenever possible. The vibration still there. Hope in due time the vibration will go away by itself  Tested the Motul Inugel. Does not help much. Manage to find Water Wetter(WW) at a car tuning shop. a) Can I add the WW straight in or do I need to drain the radiator and fill it again with water ? Can I use normal tap water or it is a must to use distilled water? Do I put the WW into the radiator or in the storage tank ? The XX comes with relay for the headlights. For the time being I will try to adjust where the lights is aiming. Try to use warchild suggestion on how to aim the headlight. Still no improvement. Will do a trial on error on which is the best position. RIDE HARD OR STAY AT HOME
  3. WOW. This is good. I am hungry for more advice. At least I know that I do more harm than good to my XX. Pity the XX to fall to the wrong owner. Will start to change the way I handle her. More aggresive and brutal from now on. No more MR NICE GUY. However can anyone help me on what is the maximun rpm for each gear ? It was embedded in my skull that for first & second gear I should not pull beyond 3000 rpm or it will wreck the gearing and engine. Is it true ? Is it save to rev the engine to let say 8000 rpm in third gear ? I love this bike so much need to know the do and donts on maintaining the bike so that it can last especially the engine.
  4. Hi Guys, Thanks again for the advice. From the replies it looks like is not the XX having problem. Looks like more to myself. Will follow the advice to rev the engine more. Thinking of it I never rev the bike more than 7000 rpm. First and second gear I will rev it up to 3000 rpm. For 3,4 & 5 I will rev it up to 6000 rpm. And sixth gear will be around 7000 rpm tops. Am I doing something wrong here ? Which is the most suitable combination rpm against gears ? From the wiring diagram in the manual, it does not display any relay at all. However I am going to show the diagram to the mechanic this weekend when I do the 12000 kmh service. Maybe he will see something that I cant. I will try to use the Motul Inugel and see what happen. It is posibble to put only water and will water alone help decrease the temperature ? By the way, how can I differentiate chasis, engine or tyre that cause vibration ?
  5. Hi Joe, Thanks for replying. It is a relief someone reply to my distress call. 1) for the vibration at 3500 rpm. It happens in all gear and when I pull in the clutch, the vibration reduce a lot. It started shortly after my break-in period completed. During break-in period I never exceeded 3000 rpm. for the vibration at 5500 rpm. It happens in gear 3,4,5&6. Basically I never pull first gear & second gear to 5500 rpm afraid of spoiling the engine. The vibration will be reduce when I pull in the clutch. How can I determine whether it is a chasis or engine related ? 2) It is a norm for wanting more I think as a human being that is. However in my case I need more for safety reason. Bright light means I can ride safely and with more confidence during my night ride. At the same time I might have save lives. There is one scenario whereby a ZZR1200 was behind me and due to the brightness of it lights my bike shadow was at the place where my headlight pattern should be. This really scare me off as I cannot see what ahead of me in a dark night. My XX is without the factory relay ? Does US spec XX has factory relay built in its wiring diagram ? 3) The bike temperatue when I am riding is around 87 - 94C. However it can goes up as high as 100C especially when there is a 3 feet cement divider in the highway and when I am running at around 140-160kmh in a hot afternoon. The worst part is when there is a jam or when I stop at the traffic light the temperature can go as high as 120C. The fan start kicking in around 100C but the temperature still rise. There is two occasions that the temperature actually rised up to 124C and it start to flash. I have to stop by the road side to let the motor cool down. I did run the motor faster and it will drop 2-3C but the next minute it will start to rise again. At the moment now what I do is to shut the motor off when I stopped at traffic light in big junction. I love this bike so much and would like to have it for a long time. As there is no specialist in my country, I actually take advices from this web site and ask the mechanic whether he can do it or not.
  6. I'm residing in Malaysia where the weather is in the 34 - 38C. My XX is a Euro Spec and has 11000 km on it. Bought new in Aug 2002 after becoming addicted to this web site. No modification done as to get accesories is difficult as no Honda authorised dealers here. Will do my 12000 km service chance. Im using Motul 5100 Semi Synthetic 10w-40 oil. Need advice on these few items below. 1) my XX vibrates at 3500 & 5500 rpm at all gears. The vibration can be felt at the handle bar, fuel tank and foot peg. Is there anything can be done to eliminate the vibration ? 2) I have changed the headlight to Philips Vision Plus but I still feel that the lights is not bright enough. HID is not an option as nobody dares to install it. Does putting a relay help ? The mechanics advise me to install the relay but I have doubt. By the way what is the function of the relay ? 3) Will Motul Inugel coolant help to reduce the XX temperature ? I know that most of you put Water Wetter but it is difficult to get it here and most mechanics that I met never heard of it. 4) Is it normal to get only 12000km for D205 rear tires ? I use 42 psi for front and rear tire. Will change to BT020 very soon. Again could not get Avon 45/46 as it is too expensive. Almost RM1200 similar to one month bank clerks pay. Any advice is highly appreciated .
