I would like to change the springs and valves in my forks.
I need some recommendations please.
Something that doesn't cost a fortune.
Thanks

I'll bite;
what is a euro switch?

Outstanding work Stan!
Wish I could be there to see/hear it run.
Music, sweet sweet music!

Agreed. Like changing from standard to power brakes. Just watch it for the first week until you get used to them. They also work well when wet, unlike a lot of high performance pads.
Are they hard on rotors?
warping?
wear issues?
-
what upgrades have you done to your brakes and what in your opinion returned the best dollar for dollar return on performance?
thanks

I'm just going to use the stock spring for now.
I'd like to preload it some. What size washers would I need for that?

Alright, I am going to change my fork oil and I see that you have to check the level after filling.
Can't you just add a certain amount?
Say the 16.3 ounces that is called for, and call it a day?
Why is it so important to measure the level as opposed to just adding a preset amount?

on the VFR, yes, I did an oil change to 7.5 weight.
I bring up Sonic Springs because they are only $79.

I ran Sonic Springs on my VFR and the springs I bought from them and put in my VFR800 were way too stiff.
I used the ones they recommended on their chart according to my weight and riding style but they make the stock BBXX springs feel downright plush.
I will say their customer service was terrific.
I would like to hear from those of you running them on a BlackBird and get your impressions?
Your weight, riding style, spring weight, and oil viscosity.
Thanks

That looks Outstanding!!!
I would love to know details on the conversion.
Also, is the wheelbase different now? Shorter?
That would be a plus!

on May 16th Cycle Gear will be having their semi annual tire sale.
$189 for a pair of front and rear Pirelli diablos.

42 just seems high. I've owned about twenty five bikes and not a one had a recommended psi that high.
I usually run 32-34 front and 34-36 rear on most of my bikes.
Even my BMW R1200RT which is heavier than the BBXX only recommended 36-38 fully loaded.
Currently I'm running 34 front and 36 rear.
I will bump it up 2psi when taking a passenger.
Anything else just exaggerates the already stiff ride qualities of the bike.
remember too that in spite of Honda's recommendations, tires vary from brand to brand and model to model.

I'm going to pick up a set of these soon.

+1 on the Scala!
even works at 100 mph as I've tested it personally!

is there some sort of a performance benefit from blocking off the PAIR?
-
what do you suggest he does with it?
-
a few drops of 3 n 1 oil and your good to go.
-
yes, oil.

FRACK!
still leaking slightly!!! #%&**^$#%&*((*&%#@ !!!!!

okay, I fired it up after two hours.
all looks good.
I just took it for a ten minute ride, parked it and all looks good.
Gonna leave it sit for a few hours.
-
okay, I had to replace the gasket around my stator cover, but I'm wondering how long I need to let the sealer (black type) cure before I can fire up the bike?
By the way, there is a thread on the VFR forum about a guy who is considering trading his VFR for a BBXX if anyone wants to jump in on that with advice?

it would almost be cheaper to move, then buy an aftermarket shock.

That is awesome!
Daschle the "pussy" from South Dakota!
God love it!
fork valve questions

Okay, I looked at those. they say "re-valved", but they don't say with what.
My forks only have 7500 miles on them and I've changed the fluid at about 5k.
I think I'll try to find a local guy to re-do the stock valves unless he talks me in to getting some gold valves or penskes or something.
Maybe change the spring also.
I would like to keep total cost around $350 if I can.
