Went to the audiologist and had a set made.
$25 an ear.
Do it.
I went this route too. Shop around because the price is dramatically different from place to place. My only complaint is that under the helmet, if you move your jaw around, they will come lose and feel weird, then you can't get your hand in to fix it.
I like the cheap waxey looking ones from the drug store.
How did I get this in twice? Sorry.

Count me in for a solid jacket, 3X. Patch not sewn on, but included.

Corrosion around a connection in the harness, or bad ground somewhere, or pinched wire in the harness. Kinda sounds like it would be in the bar area, but there is a computer involved.

Here's the problem: any frame sliders that will survive a slide attach to the engine mounting bolts. In the Bird these are behind the fairing. There are 'schrooms that use the fairing mounting screws, but I doubt they will survive much of a fall.
I too would like sliders, but hate to cut the fairing. So far I have done nothing.

A new one from Ron Ayers or Honda Direct Line (the cheapest I found) is about $410) Keep in mind that it will be painted and ready to go. I also tried to find a nice cowl and it's damn near impossible. There was a black one a couple of months ago, but by the time I bought it and had it painted I could have bought a new one. I take it you bought the one off e-bay that's always for sale and has a bad reputation.
My 2 cents.

If I didn't already have one I'd jump on it!
I'd need a stepladder to get on a 1200 Adventurer. Try parking on a slope or making a u-turn on a hillside. I'd be ka-flop.

Compare the pad to be installed also. That will make a big difference in how the carpet feels and lasts.

Dude, titties are heavy!
When did I lose control of this topic?

Almost forgot: "Friends don't let friends ride fatties."
It doesn't mean I'm not a nice person. Oh, you mean the passenger!

I've owned three different XXs. On each one the inside left muffler almost touches the swingarm. The clearance is around 5-10mm. A left side tipover can push the can even closer.
Here's how I've created more clearance.
Loosen the muffler inlet clamp, footpeg clamp and mid-muffler attachment bolt. Rotate the muffler up and away (to the outside). Tighten down the inlet clamp first, the footpeg bolt second and mid-muffler bolt last. Also consider loosening the footpeg bracket itself.
Basically loosen everything, re-position the muffler and tighten everything, starting at the front and working to the rear.
Good thinking. I'm also going to measure from the left passenger peg to the tire, and then compare it to the right.

I know this may have been discussed before, but.....I was standing behind the bird looking at the exhaust. The left cannister is closer to the tire than the right. It doesn't touch the swingarm but is close. How does this happen. It is a very low miles 2001. (2900).
I think:
1. Some fatty stood on the passenger peg to mount up before I bought it.
2. I, or the P.O. strapped it down too tight on a trailer and bent the support.
3. Honda designed it that way. (Nah).
4. It's an optical illusion. (Nah).
5. Crash damage. (The cannister doesn't even touch the ground in a tipover. don't ask how I know. Damn.)(Nah. everything around it is perfect.)
I'm leaning towards 1. Is the subframe weak there? What is the fix? Pull in the other direction? Spacer? Stop whining? Hookers?

Overall, it was fairly painless in having to deal with the insurance company.
Who was the insurance company?

I got mine and two bags for it off eBay... I think the total cost for them was about $175 shipped for all three.... one separate transaction for one bag, and I got the other bag with the tank cover.
Damn!

Sold! I guess my price was to low!
I'll give them a good home.

I have the stock clip ons from my 03 VFR for sale.
$110.00 shipped in U.S.
Thanks
I'll take them if there's no damage to them.
I'll try to send a PM.
I think that worked.

Where can I buy them new?
Cima International in Chicago. Go to Google and search Bagster. That will lead you to a French site. Look for a distributer in the US. As far as I can tell, you need to call Cima. Remember that the Euro colors are different than US colors. My 2001 Red (called Light Claret in Europe) is actually a 2000 color in Europe. I have seen a color chip chart on the internet but when I tried to print it and hold it up to the bike it didn't look right. Too many variables.
I haven't decided to try the "Light Claret" or just go black. Let me know how you like it.
Trying to find a used one is about impossible. I've watched e-bay and the boards for a year. (although I did buy a tankbag off e-bay to fit the bagster.)

Should I solder or crimp new spade connectors on the wires and reinsert in connector?
I think so. You can remove the pins from the Molex (I think), attach them to the wires, and put them back in. Like new.

You got rid of Termignoni pipes? Seek professional help now. I want your left overs.

Several of my allen bolts/screws for the fairing & windshield were pretty well worn (almost stripped) when I bought my current Bird a few years back. Where can replacements be bought for a decent price?
thanks
I'd ask John at John's Bike Bits first. He'll know.

Post the name and address of the store. Let everyone decide if they want to shop there. He should have been apologizing to you for poor installation.
-
The price and part numbers are the same. Which one should I use? Fast delivery, good customer service, reasonable shipping, you know.

Found these on Egay, Not what I'd consider reasonable, but others might...
Not reasonable at all. I paid $230 delivered from my dealer, new. I don't know how much difference there is between the VFR bars and Heli's, but a small change in bars makes a big change in the way you sit. If you go too high you'll just be in the wind all the time. Part of it is learning how to sit on the bike. I find sliding as far forward as you can on the seat makes you sit straighter.

Yep. I thought my fan was broken until one day I let it get to 219 and the fan came on.
