  1. My rear tire on my HD had a slow leak found a nail in the tire. The tire has 3000 miles on it, brought a rope style patch kit for a radial tire but when I read the directions it said for tenporary use only. Called a dealer and was told that they do fix tires because of liability. Has anyone had any luck pluggin a tire. What works best? Thanks, Ron

  2. My record's show that I replaced the oem tires FRT 7104mi R 6591mi with pilot roads replaced the rear at 6127mi frt at 8593mi with roads again replaced the rear tire at 3854mi but it looked like it could go 500 more miles but i was planning to go to oregon to the west coast bash and did want to run out of tire like i did the year before running with those crazies :icon_evilgrin: . the frt went 5982 mi and also replaced it early. I went with pr2's and have about 3000 mi on them and they look great. I hate buying tires so I buy for max mileage using the info from the people on this forum. Unless something better comes along I'm happy with the pr2's. Ron

  3. I have been thinking about buying a 1098s and was going to take a second look at one sat. But from what i have been reading about them they r very uncomfortable and many owners called them a torture rack.

My 1098 is more comfortable than you would think. In fact, I would rate it up there with my old XX. I added Gilles rearsets to get a bit more leg room and a Sargent seat, but those are the only confort mods I've made. You might want to try one before you write it off.

Hey Jim, Thanks for the feedback on the 1098, I haven't given up on it. I just want to get more info from 1098 owners before I buy one. When I bought my bb , it was not very comfortable. But thanks to this forum I was able to tweak the bike and have been happy with it.

  4. Yeah I looked at it, The roads were too icy to drive it. The front rim has a bad dent in it, rs mirror housing has roadrash and the large rs cowel has roadrash. He told me he went down at about 25 mph. Somebody punched out the baffles on the mufflers louder then stock. The engine was cold and it started right up, ran fine has 5700 miles on odometer. Checked on parts to replace the stuff that was damaged was 1300-1400 $ If you can live with the bent rim take off about 650.00. I was thinking about giving him 1800-2200 max but only after driving it. But I need another bird like a hole in the head. So if someone wants it go for it. I was hoping I could find the parts used then that would really work! Ron

  5. I added Buell footpegs and beadrider cover, it helped me alot. Remember if you raise your butt off the seat you are farther away from the handlebars. I raised the handlebars so that they are 1/4" above the tubes also changed the angle on the bars so at steering lock the grip barely touches the tank. I find that a very comfortable postion for my 6' 2" body. Ibprouphren for long rides helps. The part # for the Buell pegs can be found if you search this site under Buell pegs. There alot of guys using Dave's lowering brackets which you can find if you search this site. Hope this info helps. Ron

  6. I had a problem with my rear brake draggin, it was the master cylinder. It was so bad it blued the rotor, lucky it was under warrenty. It your rotor is not discolored really bad you probably don't have a problem.
