Isn't 7th gear a whole lot easier to shift in to and out of with dyno oil? Running synthetic might screw it up. Also, if you run non-premium gas, you can forget it.

Is that a pair of clip-ons? As in the standard handle bars?

Do you think it's risky to wait until I have a problem before I look into it? I currently don't have any issues, but I just bought the bike (from a dealer) so I don't know what has and hasn't been done on it. Also, I'm planning a 3000 mile trip this summer, so that really has to be trouble free.

have you looked at the loom plugs yet? If you pull the top off you will see that there is a sets of connectors. You know those crimp wire things, like that,,,crap. "The wires gang together in sets." If you look it is easy to see. This is why I need the pictures. I didn't want to have to ask where these things are. I assume they're somewhere between the tail light and the radiator, but I don't know what I'm looking for except that they are multi-pin connector blocks. I assume the permaent fix is just to cut out the connectors and solder the wire to eachother, is that right?

I'm a little new to my '99, and all the sounds it makes, but it has a very distict rattling tin-can sort-of sound at mid RPMs. What's frustrating is that, when I hear it, I pull in the clutch to rev my motor to see if it gets louder or softer with revs, and it just completely goes away. I want a standard 12V outlet, but I can't find a clean place to put it. :icon_wall: Any descriptions, pictures, or ideas would be appreciated. Also, what about a GPS mount? I have a Garmin 2720, which is pretty big. I bought the ram mount for it, but I can't decide what to anchor to. Thanks

My '99 Bird came with some sort of a cloth seat. I think I want to keep it, but I would like a stock seat for rainy days. Please let me know if you have one to sell me that is in pretty good shape (a couple of scufs and digs are probably okay). Thanks.

I just bought and installed the Sport Touring windscreen from zgoutlet.com. I love it. It's several inches taller than the stock screen and gives the bike a little more of a touring look. I'm 6-2 and the wind now catched me mid-helmet instead of under my chin.

I just bought the Sport Touring shield off of ZG. We'll see how that does.

I'm just getting to know my '99 XX a little. I think I would like to get a touring windshield, but I first want to know more about the one that came with the bike. I took it off to look for info on the non-visible edge, but there's nothing. Can anybody tell me what this is? My research has told me that there is something called "double bubble", which this one may be since it has an extra curve to it, sort of. I don't know.

My '99 came with a wingrack. At some point I want to get hard cases for it. I'm thinking used is better since I'm about broke from buying the bike. If you have any for sale that doesn't have road rash down the side, let me know. Thanks.

Tomorrow I'm going to be taking a look at a '99 that I want to buy. I don't know a whole lot about Blackbirds yet, even though I've done a lot of bike work on other bikes. What are the things that I should watch out for on a used bike? Besides the obvious: water in the oil, running poorly, leaking stuff, etc. Thanks, Boov

Newbie here with a question. :icon_wave: I really want an XX but I don't know how well it will fit me. I'm 6'2" and a big boned. Up here in Michigan it's not easy to find bike to look at and sit on this time of year to check out how much I like one. Before I consider traveling to look at one for sale online I would like to hear opinions about how it will work for me. Are there any other bigger guys on XX's. Is there anybody in West Michigan, GR area that has one that's not deep in storage that I can sit on and check out? Boov
