I'm confused. It's plated, but I see no signals or speedo or anything. How would that translate to registering it to other states?
It's an Arizona thing.. all you need is a headlight, tail light, 1 mirror and a horn and you are "street legal". If you're riding in the city you may get hassled for not having DOT tires but otherwise it's game on.
Actually there's no such thing as "DOT" law or regs for motorcycle tires, unless of course you are hauling freight for hire and stop at all ports and pay road use taxes.
Yes... it don't take much to plate a bike here in AZ. The headlight and tail light don't work and are only on there for fooling the PoPo whenever I ride from my house to the trails. Most PoPo around here won't even blink if they see a head light on what looks like a streetable bike, but boy if they see number plates, your ass is theirs.

Sweet!!
Didn't realize they made a Rekluse for that beast.
The Rekluse tames it a bit and let's the back tire hook up better, especially when climbing steep gnarly decomposed granite hills. Without it, all it takes is a minor error on the throttle and over you go.

RodeHard,
Maybe you travel to Denver occasionally?
As a matter of fact yes I do. About 2 or 3 times a year to visit family.

I love this bike, but I just don't ride it. It's time to let her go and get something else for the stable. Give me a call (623-572-8755) if you're interested. If you want to do some horse trading, I'm looking for a 2007 or newer WR450X or 2005 or newer YZ250.

Is it riding season yet?

My advise.... Do your Homework, and amortize the cost out over 10+ years.. and see how it comes out.
Yeah but the Messiah said he would subsidize me and I would break even in 3 years. He wouldn't lie to me would he?

Bump for a very pretty Bird. If I didn't already have one, I'd be tempted. Although 200 mile from a tank? 165 is the most I've ever gotten.
Yeah believe it or not I've gotton over 200 miles from a tank several times. Of course each time I was riding with a bunch of Goldwingers, and could have probably run faster than the speed we were averaging, but yes it's definitely possible.

As much as I hate to admit it, it's time to move on. I just haven't been riding this bike as much as I'd like too. I guess I prefer the dirt and exploring the back country more than I do pounding the pavement.
Here ya go guys/gals... 2003 Blackbird for sale
Hey, nice bird ya got there... i'm figurin' you're in arizona? Whereabouts?
I'm in Glendale, Arizona. Thanks for the compliment.

I am looking for a nice Blackbird with hard luggage. Can be Corbin Beetle Bags or Givi.
I've got just what you're looking for. It's a 2003 loaded with all the goodies. I'm mostly a dirt rider, so I haven't ridden this bike as much as I've wanted to, so the miles are still pretty low. I've got a new set of pilots and the factory seat to go along with it. It has a Corbin seat on it now. I'll take $6,500 if you're interested. 623-572-8755

Me, as you might suspect, I tend to run my high-beams in certain, but not all day time situations. I put them on when I approach intersections, or when I'm running on roads with lots of driveways or intersections where cars might pull out, and flip them on when ever I even suspect a motorist may not see me.
Very bad habit... cars may think you are signaling them to go ahead and turn or pull out. Just run your brights. The only time I dim mine are if I'm behind another bike. Cages get the full HID effect.

Technically you are correct.
However... here in AZ, there is no statute requiring you to run DOT tires on a street legal OHV. I should have been more specific rather than generalizing... my bad. :icon_shifty:
