  1. I had a peice of crap K&N and it made the bird run crappy! :icon_evil: To me it was a waste because it never fits flush even after taking the ring, and like he said it lets more dirt in your engine.. After I went back to stock the bike ran fine, more power and evertything... If you want one that bad I will sell you mine.. :icon_biggrin: Also, with the factory filter you can usually clean it after a few miles and re insert it, that is what I did to mine..

Yak, the leak you describe is quite different from the one indicated by rcone. I thought you said you were posting a picture. There are two covers on the right side of the engine...one is the timing cover, and one is the clutch cover. The timing cover has a removable center cap, and it would be relatively easy to have a leak there. The clutch cover has a removable center cap as well, and it would not be so easy to have a leak there. Regardless, neither of those areas is on the seam of the case halves, and therefore, a completely different issue.

I guess I am not camera savy, but I tried again today... :icon_think:

You are absolutely correct sir... I tried to upload some pics on yesterday, but I was unsuccessful. Every time I tried I got an error.. But I tried again today, hopefully I was successful this time... :icon_think:

  4. Do you have the specific link to what you read?

I truthfully don't recall anyone else complaining of that issue, and I've been on the various XX forums for (cough, cough) a few years.

Retorquing a bolt seldom brings problems. I believe a leaking valve cover gasket can allow oil to drop down the front drain pathways from the head and onto the front of the engine. Could that possibly be what's occurring?

I have the same problem on my 00 blackbird!!! I noticed it about a couple of months ago.. It is coming from I guess is the right engine case cover, right areound where the center cap is... I thought that maybe I was just seeing an excess of oil from my oil change, but I cleaned it and sure enough it is leaking.. :icon_think: If needed I will try to take a pic and show you the area of concern...

  5. [attachmentid=3989][attachmentid=3990]Previously I posted a tire rubbing problem and now Mototeck is telling me they now know there is a problem and are going to make a new mold and send me one of the new virsions at no charge. If anyone out there has purcased the most curent under tail from Mototech, it will rub if you ride two up. Just thought I would put the word out. :icon_dance:

How much did you pay for that tail??? That is sweet... And where can I get it??

  6. I actually need a set of bolts too, and the local dealership quoted me $4.95 a pop...

Is there any difference in windshield bolts between a first generation XX and a second generation one? Mine is a '97, and I don't want to end up with bolts I can't use.

+1 i also need a full set of the nuts for a 97

    I do so agree... :icon_biggrin:

  7. Anyone know what the part number is for the bolt and nut that is used to secure the shield on the blackbird????? Or where can I buy them?????

How many you need? I've got a full set of the bolts, as I took them off to put some black anodized ones on.... verrrrrrrry sharp now! :icon_cool:

I gave two of the nuts/rubber washers to Dion at Nexxt... I may have one of those floating around, two. I picked them up at the dealer, just brough them a matching one to compare it to.

Well I need about four of them along with the rubber nut that fits into the windscreen. Are you sellimg?? Those black anodized sure sounds nice!!! :icon_clap:

  8. I agree that was some mighty detailed work!!! :icon_clap: I had that same problem on my 00 blackbird and I tried to read a previous post and got sorta confused.. So I just found the loom and did a major cleaning on it.. But no problem since, but I will save this post just in case... Great work, and awesome detail..... :icon_cool:

  9. I had the same problem on my 00 Blackbird. I went into the loom and cleaned out the connectors, then reconnected them. I then resealed the connection so that no type of moisture could get inside... I don't know if this exactly your problem, but it is a known problem with the 99-00 Blackbird. Here is a link that will maybe help you.... Let me know if you need anymore help!!!! :icon_biggrin:

  10. Okay my blackbird brothers, I got a question about which(4-2-1) exhaust to purchase for my 2000 xx. I am torn between the akrapovic, and the micron.. Which would be better? or what would be better?? I know that akrapovic no longer makes the race system for my bike they offer something called a supersport line.. Is it any good? :icon_scratchhead: I am open for suggestions..... :icon_think:

  11. Thanks all for the input, I guess if it ain't broke don't fix it huh?? :icon_snooty: Well I was just curious because I have experienced some steering wobble at high speeds, but then maybe I should just let off the throttle a little.... :icon_evilgrin:

  12. Okay!! How difficult is it to install a power commander????? I have a 00 blackbird, any help???? :icon_confused:

    VERY Easy....

Plug and play pretty much. One connector, and a ground.

Thanks, I think I will try install myself instead of paying for it... :icon_confused:

  13. Thanks guys, I guess it is pretty normal. I mean it runs pretty good just that little noise that bothers me at time. I had a KN filter in there before, and that seemed to slow the bike down. I think it was getting to much air in the intake. So I went back to the factory filter, the KN was off a little and causing air to seep through the sides... And yes I removed the oring, it just didn't seem to fit flush all the way around, so now I just need to get a nice exhaust maybe to drown out the noise I hear....... :icon_cool:

  14. Its normal on everybike running a wetclutch.

The oil in the bike is dampening the clutch plate rattle, when you pull the clutch in this prevents then from rattleing around like rocks in a coffee can.

Go listen to a ducati running a dry clutch.. You think your clutch is loud :icon_eek:

You think if I go with a synthetic it would make a difference??? And let me ask you this it probably would not make a difference if I changed the clutch huh? :icon_think:
