  1. First you should determine if it is detonation or pre-ignition. Timing change or maybe cooler plugs might help. A build up of carbon in the combustion chamber can cause all sorts of trouble. You want the spark to fire the cylinder and not the heat remaining in the cylinder from the last cycle. +1000 on the unforgiving nature of small components. Detonation overloads components terrifically. It will knock out the oil film between a bearing and the crankshaft and you have instant metal on metal....not good! Broken ring lands are often the result also. You should not lug an engine but you may have a problem besides being in too high a gear. Good luck
  2. I think I am going to try one of these.... http://www.brandsplace.com/0002-ccs100.html
  3. Howdy, My 99 XX also had a 200 series tire on it when I bought it, an almost new Michelin HPX. It had no clearance problem with the chain or swingarm but I suspect that the centerstand was removed to prevent interference. I hated to replace an almost new tire but I was tired of feeling that I owned an ill handling POS and put the proper size tire back on it. Don't bother with a 190 tire either, put the 180 back on it. You will be pleased with the results. No happy faces in my driveway, but I did smoke up the neighborhood with what was left of that 200 tire. Good luck, Mark
  4. I could use one as well for a 99. Thanks for your efforts. Mark
