Easy Redbird..you totally misread it....my comment is as good natured a joke as yours, please don't perceive hostility into my statement. There are thousands of posts here to support the "tongue in cheek" nature of the active members here.

and in reponse to my initial question...I came across the answer...having removed my side panels for the first time since acquiring the bike. The "very slight" rattling is coming from the cooling fan. There's a very small amount of play around the fan bearings...probably normal..but when going through 3500-4000 rpms...that frequency just gets that thing rattling.

does more H.P. always mean faster?
More horsepower allows more energy to work with...what engineers do with that power is what keeps them busy year after year. All other things being equal, more power will accelerate you faster, and it will move you to a higher top speed.....all other things being equal.

Anybody out there test their speedo? If so, what's you're percentage error? I'm looking at getting a speedo healer and curious as to how well they perform. The principle is sound enough. Now if you're one of those who actually believe you've ever been over 185 mph on your unmodified blackbird, then move on to another forum post!

CC noise could definitely show up around 4000...3800-4000 is the resonant frequency of the XX engine..the rpm at which it vibrates most. ...and whatever's loose...will make the most noise around this rpm. The noise usually shows up more when the engine gets hotter and the cam chain has a chance to warm up a bit, expand and loosen...it's just damn annyoing. I can't wait to get to TeXXT and let some others hear it and see what they think.
