  1. I have an Akra exhaust and Alpha-Bird recommended raising the ride height and he is right. The Akra scapes easily, so this is a MUST. I posted the centerstand bracket # in another thread. I had to add a 1/4 inch piece of rubber to gain more clearance for the chain. Raising your ride height will require this addition. Oh, and for what it's worth, I only got 10.1 HP increase. Best part is--it showed up at 4200 rpm and stayed there to redline. Air/Fuel ratio maintined at 14:1 through-out. 98 Carbed Cal
  2. I paid 9.24 ea. and that was ordered through the local MC shop. Cal
  3. Rich, Here's a pic of the Akra. When I installed it, I thought it would be a good idea if I washed off the oily finger prints. I grabbed the closest can of cleaner on the shelf which was electric motor cleaner and with one spray, the Akra logo washed off leaving the chrome looking backing on the can. Oh well, I like it better without it. Closeup of can. Akra color print washed off the decal backing. For the hell of it. Check out the height of my bars. They are also further back. Later, Cal
  4. Yes, I've heard Alans pipes too, all the way from mid Oregon to the SF bay area. They sound sweet!! Like others have said it all depends on what you want. I've heard the D&D pipes also and yes, they are loud. My Akra 4-1 is somewhere in between. My ZX-10 has Vance-Hines 4-1 and it's loud. Ear plugs required for all day rides. Two-Bros pipes are great, there business pratices is not. My .02 cents, Cal
  5. Damn! The bracket fitment is nothin compared to what you went through. Cal
  6. Justin, I just remembered, I should tell you, since your buying an Akra and you will no-doubt be raising your ride height, the bracket won't be tall enough to keep the centerstand off the chain so I attached a 1/4 inch thick piece of hard rubber to the surface stop. That also stopped the nasty metal to metal clunking sound when taking the bike off the stand. Oh, one more thing, the weld was paper thin at the stop so I reworked and welded it. Cal
  7. Justin, Remember, the bolt probably wont fit. Matey Peeps, Sorry I side-tracked your post. Alan and Tom are correct, the slip-ons don't need it. If you have a 4-1 system, you don't have to lose your centerstand if you buy 2-Bozos bracket. David, What did lacyclesports tell you? Why did they give up? Cal
  8. Justin, you will need one for your AKRA. Cal
  9. David, The reason your dealer gave up, (I'm assuming) is because the socket cap head of the bolt they supply with the bracket is too large to fit the counter-bore in the anchor mount. I had to turn down the head approx .008 to get it in the counter-bore. THATS 2-BROS!!! Larry an Moe later, anonymous
  10. If you actually want to see the part, you have to got to the specific model year installation section. They don't list that part independently from their exhaust systems. Later, annonymous
  11. Ok, first of all, I am not advertising for Two-Fukin-Bros racin. I'm only trying to help you Justin or any other XX owner. If you ever get a wrong part, good luck gettin your credit in a timely manner!! I have that bracket on my 98. OK here goes--- the part # is 005-68-01-CB (fits all years) Don't thank me, GOOD LUCK!! Later, anonymous
  12. Thanks, Joe, We needed that. One of the most useful things to ever hit this forum. Cal
  13. Is the gas cap venting correctly? Does it hiss when opened? Cal
  14. Make sure they get it right the first time cause their "returned goods authorization" SUCKS!! As a return customer, "never again"!!! Cal
