  1. Yeah, Aurora Suzuki by Greenlake. I'll hopefully swing by tomorrow and take some pics.
  2. For about a month now the Suzuki dealer near me (206.783.2323 - Seattle) has had an 03 bird sitting out front. I called the sales guy today and he says it has just under 7k miles and is mint. They want $6995. If anyone is interested I can swing by and take some pictures. I have no affiliation with the dealership, I just want to see a good looking bird go to a good home. And they're probably open to negotiation.
  3. For sale: 1 Tourmaster Saber jacket in size XXL/48. Jacket has been used 1 season and is in very good used condition. No holes, tears, stains, etc. Sold.
  4. Thanks for the replies. Any trick on getting a torque wrench in that small of a space to finish the job? Taking off the fender doesn't cut it, and it appears that the ram air duct will be in the way no matter how much other body work I remove.
  5. I was riding less than 5 mph in a parking lot and was surprised by a car backing out in front of me. I steered right and braked. I didn't see the dip in the asphalt and went down. It was more of a drop than anything else; I had my right foot down but with a full tank of gas I just couldn't keep it upright. After I pulled it back up and swore a bunch I assessed the damage. Minor paint damage to the right side factory hard bag, lower right fairing and right mirror. The front of the right side stock exhaust, brake pedal, and peg feeler all got a light kiss. NO contact by the right bar end. After cooling off, I rode home. I noticed the front end tracking was off; my right bar was much closer than my left when riding a straight line. I got home and convinced myself that I must have torqued (or bent) the clip-ons when I lifted her off the pavement. I have Genmar risers which allow a little play either way. I adjusted the right side so that they're even when on the centerstand and the front end is pointed straight ahead. I rode today, the first time after I thought I got everything straightened. My hands are equidistant to my body, but when I look at the fork tops, the right is further away from the dash. Looking further down the forks is looks like the may not be parallel. There is no wobble at highway speed, but it does want to pull slightly to the left. Could I have bent a fork tube on what was essentially dropping the bike at almost no speed? Any other ideas?
  6. Not to hijack the thread, but the newer VFR peg feelers match the stock bird look and are about 2/3 the length. Part # 90176-MCW-D00.
  7. I think you are misreading the column. I'm guessing that an "x" will be added under the "shipped" column once the brackets have shipped. I'm also guessing that machining and finishing these takes time.
  8. I recently installed some LED turn signals on the rear. I would like to put some LEDs up front as well. I found what I think is a good quality 32 LED 1156 bulb (thanks TuffguyF4i) here about a third of the way down the page. Am I correct in assuming that the 1156 is a plug and play replacement for the 1073? I already have the LED flash rate adjuster (tip from kiwimack - works like a charm). Any comments pro or con?
  9. Here's some pics with the seat off. The extra wiring is my garage door opener. Hope this helps.
  10. Without taking my rear cowl off and checking, is it possible to push anything aside to make the room you need? I think I remember needing to make a bit room. I also think I may have slid it in from the front. Try sliding it in and twisting it into position once it's behind the subframe.
  11. I can not figure out how the left mounting bracket goes on the sub frame. the right side has a hole in the metal making it easy but the left side I have no clue. I'm guessing you're asking about the two-piece support bracket that bolts together and sandwiches the subframe? If so, the inner piece took some wiggling to allow it to slide in next to the subframe. But by saying there is no hole there, I'm wondering if you mean on the plate welded between the upper and lower subframe struts. PM me if you want.
  12. I've done it. What's your question?
  13. Ordered one of these today for my birthday.
  14. I use 303 Protectant for unpainted plastic surfaces. Found this stuff for my Jeep. It works great on unpainted plastics. It's made for marine applications; I figure they know about protecting plastic in the sun. Available in boat stores.
  15. Read about it in a bike rag. They really liked it. Anyone here used it? Seems like a better cosmetic match to the XX than a throttlemeister, and you only have to fiddle with one bar end. And the photo they have uses the same BMW grips as I have. Would like opinions before I buy. http://www.kaoko.com/cruisecontrol.html
  16. I am curious where you got your information. Page 141 of my owner's manual (Drive Chain Adjustment) states: 1. Place the motorcycle on its center stand... It goes on to say when you are done adjusting, refer to page 138 for inspection. No where on that page or the previous does it say anything about lowering the bike on the side stand.
  17. Got any pics? And where did you get the VFR bags?
  18. My '03 bird stalled in hot stop-and-go traffic a few days ago. I got the side of the road and tried to start it. It turned over twice then nothing. All lights off on console and the clock reset itself as did both tripmeters. Temp was about 225. Waited a few minutes and tried again. Same thing. Waited a few more minutes and then bumpstarted it. Appears to be running and starting fine now. Do I need to be concerned with and any damage to the electrical system? Is this a normal hot weather thing? Thanks
  19. Wow. I ask a question that the answer is lacking in the shop manual and I must be an idiot. I guess wanting to get it right the first time means I have no business working on this aspect of the bike in the first place. As far as the wrench size, I meant to type 8.5mm, not 3.5 mm. I have eliminated the freeplay only when the steering head is turned completely to the left (without revving), but there is still 1/8" of play in all other steering positions. I guess I should take it to the dealer, right?
  20. Which way should the adjuster be turned to tighten the freeplay? Also, does it take goofy size wrench, like 8.5mm? Thanks
  21. Had a rude awakening while inspecting my rear - a nice shiny screw fully implanted. It seems to be maintaining pressure enough for a 3 mile city ride to the dealer for a new one. It's an '03 with Dunlop Sportmax's and 1700 miles. I'm not all that pissed off because I probably needed a new one just cuz of age. Anyway, I'm going to keep the front on. The Sportmax is no longer made; I was recommended a Qualifier - is this the correct Dunlop to get? Thanks
  22. Thanks for the replies; I'm pretty sure I have no reason to worry.
  23. I've had my new bird for almost a month, and twice I have upshifted at speed only to have it miss the next gear. The last time was shifting from 5th to 6th. I upshifted, let the clutch out and the revs dropped to idle. Clutched again, gave it a another tap up and it engaged. Am I not being forceful enough or do I have a tranny issue? Anyone else experience this?
  24. New owner of an '03 XX here. What do you folks recommend as the best maintainance manual?
