Those bikes are indestructible. Someone is going to be very happy with this bike.

It's ย been a great bike. Starts with only 2-3 kicks. Never had a mins problem with it. If I had the room I would keep it for a pit bike or just to putt around on but with Tyler getting another bike I don't ย have the room. There is already 10lbs of shit in my 3lbs bag. I need to take stuff out of my shed just so I can work on stuff.ย

  2. Tyler has out grown this bike. So we are selling it.

    Tires are good.

Brakes are good. Plus I have EBC front pads and stock rear shoes in a box with some extra spokes.ย

I am offering it up here for $1000ย

I entertained HID but this post just made me not want too put HID on my bird sounds like a bad Idea all the way around for what little you gain!

The HID headlights are fucking awesome. Just buy a good set. Mine have been in both high and low beam for 7yrs and about 40k miles. Only had to change 1 bulb. The make a huge difference in night riding as far as sight distance.

My electrical problem was a corroded ground that was not working as it should. After I cleaned all the connections the problem has not come back. Don't ย fear the HID embrace it. They are great.ย

    Do your research first though.ย

  4. I always try to shock the stuck bolt with a few love taps from a small hammer. 9 times out of 10 it will breake the tension of what is holding it and it will turn. For those times it doesn't work I try to apply a bit of heat and then tap. For all other times there is Mastercard. ... ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿ˜œ

  5. Mikey I am not sure how your ballasts are mounted and all the wiring is tied on your bike. I have mine tied to the fairing stay and the bulbs are accessible by removing the inner dash panel. They are still a bitch and many curse word fly when changing a bulb but I have done it twice and didn't take the nose fairing off.

As for the bulbs. If you have a 35w ballast you should go with a 35w bulb and you will have to match up the connectors. Whatever you do DON'T touch the bulb itself. Grab it by the base. The oils from your skin will create hotspots on the bulb and it will burn out prematurely. Same as with a halogen bulb.

  6. Well I think my gremlins have found a new home elsewhere. ..

The Bird ran flawlessly yesterday and at an average speed of about 5mph most of the day the charging system got 1 hellova workout. She stood fast and never faultered.

My next endeavor will be to adjust the air fuel mixture she has a Factory Pro Jet kit and was jetted for 800'above sea level which hear in Jersey I am clearly not that high above. She runs a tad rich but damn good. That is why I have not messed with it.

One of these days I will pull it apart and see what I can do. The rubber diaphragms scare me. The last time i took 1 out it took me over an hr to get it back into the right spot. I believe the main needles have clips on them that I can use to adjust the main mixture so maybe if I ever get adventurous I will give it a go.

Good to hear the electrical is sorted out. As for the mix, being at lower altitude than it was tuned for would make it run leaner, not richer. That said, a couple hundred feet makes little difference and would likely take a dyno and/or exhaust gas analyzer to detect.

If this is the case then I need to dig into it and see why I am running on the rich side. Because everyone that rides behinde me complains of the exhaust smelling like it is running rich. In the winter months as soon as the bike starts Incan turn the choke off and it will run fine without the choke. That tells me that it is running too rich. Summer time I don't even need the choke to start it. Maybe it is as simple as adjusting the air fuel mix screws just a smidgen.

    Thanks guys.

  7. Carb work, then a ride to the track...all interspersed with cold brewski's!

๐Ÿ‘ sounds like a kickass plan for sure.

Carb cleaners can also cause the diaphragm to swell and be a bitch. Avoid that, but if you do by accident I have heard tossing in freezer helps.

Glad you got it cleared up.

I got 49.2 mpg heading up Friday. That was with getting caught behind paving trucks, and through northern Virginia traffic.

Tank, tail, saddle bags and my goofy ass.

Damn you got some kickass mpg. I haven't seen anywhere near that. Best I have ever seen is 42. Not lately though. I am thinking it is time to tune the carbs.

  8. The rubber diaphragms scare me. The last time i took 1 out it took me over an hr to get it back into the right spot.

Just had mine apart this spring. The trick is to get them close and then place the cover on top just by hand (no screws). Then remove it. It seems to push the rubber where it needs to be.

Thanks I will keep that in mind and try it when I tear it apart. May wait till the fall so I don't miss any ridin time.

  10. My Bird came with the K&N filter. I don't have any dust on the inside of the airbox after the filter. Then again I keep it oiled. It does stop mice and their nest from entering the intake. .. ๐Ÿ˜€ ask me how I know this... go a head... lol

  11. XX has a facebook link?

    hmmmm

I go through spells and here lately my work bench was so cluttered I had another table next to it do work on crap because I was too lazy to organize the workbench. Got another toolbox for my birthday that is 11 drawers so I actually took time to organize my tools and clean the bench off.

Had a full washing machine load of terry cloth towels and shop rags, and probably 20 I threw away to avoid putting anything icky in the washing machine.

Yes search CBR1100XX Super Black Bird and a few pages will come up.

  12. Oh sure, he'll get the info for you. For me, he just says "got them from ebay". Sheesh. ;)

Hey you I told you what I spent on them and that I got them from ebay get it strait... ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿ˜œ

I honestly don't remember the link. I was on the XX Facebook page and someone posted the link. Not sure if my ebay history will go back that far. I'll have to look.

Dave if I put anything on my work bench I may very well loose it in the mess. I need to spend some quality time in my shop.. ๐Ÿ˜‰
