well i just saw the part about the LCD display and i am very interested in that depending on price but cant commit as yet until i know the $$$ for it.

  2. I use the clear 3M stuff behind the front wheel dunno why cos you cant see it but i like to know that its protected i dont know how it would go on more exposed bodywork as it didnt stick real well on my bike and i preped it cleaned it stuck it on heated it etc etc and its still lifted a bit in places but like i said you cant see it under there so it doesnt worry me. as for the bug goo on rubber a little armour all cleaner and then armour all works a treat on mine towels for the dried bugs on paint etc

  3. i read this before i went to work today and thought i would give it a try it seems to crank over another couple of seconds before firing now could this be cos there is no fuel pressure etc, I am not real keen on cranking the engine for longer than it needs so ill go back to waiting till the fuel pump stops etc then pushing the button.

  4. Spent the best part of saturday cleaning the bird well 20 mins was to wash the bike the rest was removing chain lube!

Question. What are the better chain lubes out there that reduce the amount of crap that flicks off and covers everything else or is a pro oiler/scottoiler etc etc a better way to go i realise that there is always going to be some mess involved but the stuff i am using is covering everything and its so sticky it takes a lot of work to get it off. It sprays on like a foam and is clear but turns to a liquid in a few seconds and then starts to run.

I did a search for chain lube etc on here and didnt really find anything that answers my question did however see the possible group buy on pro oilers coming up would this be a better option?

    Any one got any suggestions?????

  5. Hi Everybody

I'm picking up an 03 BB tomorrow and aim looking at the doing this too...MarchyXX where did you order your kit from and what was the approximate cost of it?...I have already organised an alarm system, heated grips and this is the last thing before i tear the bike apart.

    Cheers,

    :icon_biggrin:

Everything you need is right here.

    Welcome to the board.

Yep thats what i was going to say I used the hose washers but i think i will need to look at another plan of attack as the clip only holds one side and i still get some movement i may just cut the spacers from the standard globes and use them.

  6. Looks like a nice install. I've heard other people sticking the ballast on the back of the digi dash like that. I'm just worried that they would get to hot and fry the dash. I don't recall anyone having issue though.

If anyone has issues with that, speak up!

    -Obby

Yeah that thought did cross my mind but i didnt see anything in the book and i figured they say to use the double sided tape it cant get too hot i guess ill have to wait and see

  7. Well after ordering my new HID kit friday just gone I was a little unsure how to install so i had some spare time at work tuesday and had a look once i was looking i thought stuff it ill just do it and away i went i did a very rough job as i still needed to tidy the wires etc up so today on my day off i pulled it all part again and put it all in nice and neat. I found it pretty easy apart from getting the nuts back on that hold the dash in place and then i had one of the small boxes in the way of the windscreen so when pushing it back in the rubber grommets would push out and id have to start again VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!!! so i cut the ties and moved them a bit they are in a much better spot now anyway so im happy. Thanks again for all the advice and a great forum! Here is a couple of pics.

Pic with the dash out for access

The extra bits that were fitted the 2 black ones that are partially hidden were moved

Cant even see anything different very happy with the lights and my handywork

  8. well it just keeps getting better and better well apart from the girlfriend telling me to go get F&%# and moving out Whole different story. I went to work today and well there was nothing to do so i came back home and grabbed my new lights went back to work and started looking around to see what i would need to do..... Ah bugger it ill do it now i said and soon after it was all done well nearly just need to take it apart and make sure its all ok no wires etc in harms way all insulated etc as i did it all just by removing the wind sheild and the two small side bits it was easy enough to do just very tight but ill make sure its all good tonight after footy training i noticed the difference riding home in daylight so i cant wait to see how it is at night. Thanks again everyone for your advice as for the spacers i went with the washers as i had some sitting around.

  11. well its done i emailed him tonight and had a reply in 30 mins so i got paypal sorted and sent the cash $200 US delivered to AUS i am pretty happy as i had a look at a few aussie sites today and it would have cost me $500+ AUD to get one here. I went for the 4300 kit so i will have to wait and see how they are to install. I may even have my pipes back by then and i can put them on at the same time that would be cool.

  13. Yeah l noticed it a little but only when idling in first as soon as i give it any gas its fine and damn fast! Mine is an 05 and only a week old so i hope its normal.

  14. Well i have had the bike for a week now and i love it its due for its first service now and i have 4 days off that would be right so i have to look at it till tuesday when the shop opens and i can get them to change my oil i tried all i could so that i could do it at home but no it has to be done at the shop. All that aside i love the new bike and the GF does as well she wants to go out riding more than i do so im not complaining at all. Thanks to you all for your advice and input about the running in do's and dont's and all the other bits and peices of useful info. I am still trying to find my camera and ill put up some pics for you all.

  15. Well i finally picked up the new bird on friday after a false start on the first try as there was a FI problem before i even picked the bike up. they grabbed another new bike off the floor and got it ready and i picked it up late arvo all was good. went for a lazy ride on saturday to put some ks on the clock and noticed a faint rattle between 3100 and 3600 rpm it went away after a while but today while riding around i noticed its back but louder this time and its starting at around 2700 rpm and dissapears around 3300 rpm. i cant really pinpoint where its coming from as yet just wondering if anyone has any ideas or should i just take it back to the dealer and get them to sort it out i have only done 350 ks so far and have taken it very easy so cant imagine its from abuse or worn out. on the up side i absolutley love the blackbird what an amazing machine to ride.

  18. I have ridden bikes before ive had various dirt bikes on the farm over the years owned a CBR900 1998 model for a while as well and loved it as well as spending a lot os time on an R6 that was not mine but i rode it more than my own lol. have been riding a Cagiva W16 for the last 12 - 18 months as it was great riding to work and i could hit the dirt on weekends but it was too much in the middle to be good at dirt or road so i am selling that for the new bird and may buy a cheap dirt bike one day soon. I live in australia just moved up to queensland from south aus and the climate is great for riding i cant wait to pick up my new toy. I will be getting more gear as time goes by and the minister of finance allows me to do so lol.

    thanks for all the replies

  19. Hi all firstly this place looks very impressive and i am sure ill find a lot of valuable info when i look closer.

Secondly i will be picking up my new toy next week a brand new 05 model having never owned a Blackbird before and no new bikes just looking for any do's and dont's for the running in process and any other info that may be usefull. I guess there will be some mention of it in the manual but first hand experience is so much better. Will i need to check any things before i start riding ie bearings or bolts or anything really, like i said i am very new to new bikes and dont know stuff all about running a bike in.

    Cheers
