  1. Yes, I had an accident with my love, with my CBRXX and this is some pics of the result:

    And now.....What fuck can I do??? :icon_mad::icon_mad::icon_mad:

Ajo y agua my friend. Knowing what I know about insurance in Spain you only have liability (a terceros).

I'd check motostion en Madrid and see how they fare compared to e-bay. If you need any help gestionando algo around here pm me. I'll be glad to help.

Be it as it may, fairing pieces are abundant in ebay and chapistas in Spain still don't make doctor's wages like they do here so as long as you have patience you should be able to be on your way rather inexpensively as long as frame and forks are in good shape.

Desmantela el tinglao first and like I said, if you need any help at all with logistics or whatever let me know.

    Saludos,

    Javier (in Philadelphia, PA)

  2. I'm looking for a Corbin and more up right handlebars for my '03 XX. Stock VTech VFR are over $300 so they are out of the question. I was debating whether to get Heli for the XX or step it up a notch anf go for the Heli VFR. Does anyone know if they'll fit with stock cable/wire set up?

  3. What does Howard Stern have to do with my reply ? So I can't make a joke without it being related to Howard Stern.

Guess you don't listen to comedy and don't laugh much.

    Howard Stern = Comedy.

    George Carlin = Comedy.

    Jamie Foxx - Comedy.

    etc....

My sincere apologies for making humor.

As for morons...do they get any more stupid than Clint Eastwood ?

    Howard Stern = moron

    George Carlin = THE MAN

    Jamie Foxx = so so

    Dirty Harry... priceless

BTW, if you watched Dirty Harry from a movie making stand point (not just look at the screen), you'd have noticed that even Clint Eastwood's face on some takes is trying VERY hard not to laugh at the role he's playing. That's how much of "I can't believe I'm playing this tough wise ass role" stupid he is.

As for making humor, so was I. I suppose unless I use those idiotic slilies... some people don't get it. I did get yours and that's why I was busting your balls.

    Oooops!

First the turd now Howard! Nothing personal or premediated about my comments on your choice of avatar dude! I didn't realized it was you until I went to check the dinner post...

Just the luck of the draw... Didn't mean anything by it....

  4. I removed my bikes brain. I hated that she was smarter than me. So I got a GPS so I would know where I was going. Turned out that....both of us didn't know where we were going.

That figures. Outta quit listening to that moron on your avatar. And you'll be aaaaaalll right. Hopefuly it's not too late.

  5. I've always had bikes where the I've changed the chip (aka EPROM), adjust CO and off I went. What's with PC? Is there a Power Commander for dummies site? Is the PC installed on top of the bike's brain or is it in lue of the bike's brain?

    Any clarification would be appreciated...

  6. I don't know about Electrosport. My advice (its free) is to have either a spare Honda regulator or an R1 regulator made ready to plug in.

Check prices at ronayers.com. I think about $105 for the regulator, and $180 for the stator.

New name for electrx. same company. Hey those prices are quite reasonable. no reason not to carry a spare r/r in the toolkit....

  7. Electrex is a popular supplier of hi-output electrics for many motorcycles. The XX is NOT one of them, and Electrex has a spotty history with us as not really being up to speed on this motorcycle.

No shit! I bought one for the 85 Elefant and went up in smoke with 0 miles. Bought one on e-bay from a Honda CM400T for $15 and it works like a charm. It's just that if you search their site they do have some interesting general info and testing.

  8. Check starter and ground cables.

    Check your regulator wires/connections.

Good point. Make sure you check the basics first. Kind of like ... bike dead...call tow truck...take to dealer...get a phone call... you run out of gas you... dumb fuck! We donĀ“t want that... :icon_doh:

  9. Dude! Why the stator? Why not the regulator?

    This is how it works.

The flywheel is spinning next to the stator. That creates current. Don't know the value on the XX but I know on the Ducs is about 60V AC max depending on the rpms. Usually 2 or 3 wires come out of the engine case carrying that current. Go into the regulator rectifier. Once it gets there, the r/r rectifies to DC and regulates to about 14V.

The only way to check is by eliminating.

With the rpms at say.... 4-5k check the v on the battery poles.. Should be around 14. THen pull the wires coming out of the engine into the regulator (from the regulator, not the engine!). Check the output. Should be ~60v. Please keep in mind I don't have a manual. I'm guessing what V values should be reasonable for an engine. Don't have a manual for the XX. Perhaps someone with a service manual can give you exact values...

  10. The stuff you learn here...ok so is there any way to stay ahead of the curve on the battery and possibly save or add lifespan to the reg/rec? Would a voltmeter be sufficient, or by the time the voltmeter starts showing problems it's already too late?

Kindda! If you install a voltmeter on your dash and that'll allow you to monitor charging. Or dischrarging while using a lot of heat clothes/farkles. If you see the system can't keep up you can decide what to turn off before you blow it...

Depending on the system, the stator will start charging at a certain rpm range. I suppose if you keep a close eye on it and get used to its ways you could determine if anything is going awol prior to running out of juice....

Adding to lifespan of R/R? Keep it grounded good, cooled and hooked to a battery in good shape. No guarantees though... It can happen at any time.

    BTW,

1/ what's the XX charging system output?

2/ Any reason for buying a '99 vs. '02? And I'm not refering to electrical issues.

  11. approachin 75k now and only had the normal problems...regulator/rectifier, tires, chain, brakes...oh and the stator...thats it, nothing else...I ride my bike every day to work about 175 miles round trip roughly depending on which location I actually have to go to...If I ever sell the XX it will be to get another XX

Please! Not again! regulator/rectifier? Even stator? Is that YOU or everyones? I thought (hoped) going from Ducati to Honda (easy now girls! I'm keeping the Ducs!) would take me away from those issues...........What's the average milage/lifespan of the charging system?

  12. I did 5mm up front. It was good. Then I made it 10 and the bike seemed somewhat nervous, needing constant attention. I went back to 7mm and it was fine. (Correct springs in the forks). I added a Penske shock a year later that was slightly longer that raised the rear about 10mm and it quickend the steering a tad but did NOT make it nervous feeling.

Ditto. There is no "this much and you'll be fine". How much do you weight? Depending on that along with the spring rate you have, you bike rides at a certain height. I'm 170. If I ride your bike and you weight 130 I'm already riding lower than you. If your 220 lb cousin borrows it, it'll be pretty dam low. I really think it's a trial and error deal. When I get a new (to me) bike I always experiment and try to find the spot that suits my riding style on the bike.

I have a bike I use mostly for track. Spring rates and preload are set towards the stiffer end. That causes the bike to ride with the suspension extended more than a regular street bike so I have to make up for it by lowering the triples so that the geometry is still confident inspiring. If I lower it too much too twitchy and nervous. If not enough, the bike will tend to go straight no matter how much I try to dive into the turn. So the forks stick out of the yokes substantially more than a regular street bike. But the suspension is still functioning where it's suposed to be and and chasis has a somewhat good geometry set up.

Try different set ups and see what suits you.

    Did I make sense?

  13. You know how boxer beemers have this "reputation" of not being broken in until 30k miles and lasting for another 100k. Be it as it may (I'm not getting into the truth of that statement) I was wondering what the case may be with XXs. Any real high miles out there? Trouble free? I suppose it's sort of a newbee question since I'm looking for one... Are certain years better than others? I'm pretty much set oon F.I....

I'm sort of wondering if there is a number of miles after which I better "not go in there"....

I do realize that following maintenance and giving it TLC is a big part of a long happy life...

Cheers and nice board you all have here.
