  3. I have the prototype already but need to final fit it. I did not get much interest in this so I never pressed the issue to get it done. If there is more interest I can have it done and installed then some pictures out within a week or so. I do need any suggestions on powder coat or some other reflection material for the final coat.

  4. Tonight I took my side faring off because of high temp and excess Engine Ice after I ride on the ground.

    1. I have a question about Wrapping the Headers with heat wraps like we use on cars to reduce the heat near the Radiator. Has anyone tried this yet?

    2. Also has anyone had luck in adding a large cooling fan? I thought I could add 1 in front of the Radiator but not sure if it would help.

    3. Last one and not sure. Above the radiator there is a smaller size cooling radiator what is that for?

  5. I am looking into making a heat shield for my Bird so that the exhaust heat is deflected from the radiator while sitting. It would be factory looking and a bolt on if I get my sheet metal guy to do it.

Is anyone interested in one of these?

One of reasons is that if you wrap the headers then you take the risk if actually increasing the engine temo slightly. I would prefer deflecting.

If you are interested I will be getting pictures when he gets done.

    Just post up here.

  6. If you don't want to pop for the Traxxion cartridges, I'd strongly recommend you send them off to someone like Dan Kyle or Jim Lindemann and have them revalved as well as sprung for your weight. A lot will depend on how much you weigh. Personally I didn't see much difference fron simply changing oil and springs, probably because I'm close to the weight the bike seemed to like already. The fork rework, OTOH, is like night and day.

Maybe I am behind the curve on this but do you have more information on Dan Kyle or Jim Lindemann? Whom are they and where can I find them and check out what they can do?

  7. I have a questions about the front shocks...(corrected just for tomek springs/cartridges) :icon_biggrin:

When do you no that it is time to change them?

Do they have oil or what is in side?

Also have noticed that there is a little greasy mess sometimes from the fork seals is that the replce me sign?

I have noticed that the front shocks when hitting bumps feels like the bike is bottoming out or hitting with a thud??? :icon_wall:

  8. I had a heated discussion with others today about how a streched chain and if it can change your 1/4 mile time.

Does anyone think a loose chain can change your times? :icon_duh: :icon_dance:

    How about tight chain? :icon_duh:

My opinion is that a loose chain can cause you to have a small amount of lose in the time. Slop in the chain creates a lag when shifting from gears. :icon_duh:

  9. I am not sure but my bike seems to be running hot. What is the average temp that it should be running in AZ?

Most of the time its 215 but sometimes I have seen 235. Is this normal?

And are there anyways to reduce this high heat?

  10. Sorry if this is a repost or similar to other posts. I did review the older posts but did not find much in regards to Front Sprocket versus Rear Sprocket. I have the Excel Spread and it appears that there is no difference.

I want more from my bike at the low end. So either I go up on the back or down on the front.

I have had a hard time finding a 48T rear but I have found some. They are a little higher in price.

Does anyone know any reason why not to go down a tooth on the Front to a 16T?

    PROs & CONs to either?

Also if I go up a tooth I have to spend more on the Chain since I will need a 120 link cut down.

    Any recommendations or this issue?

I also posted a group buy option for the ZVM2 Chain for $128 which by my research is best the price in the country right now. This is a newer chain and shows to be better than the ZVM. The T rating is around 10500.

Please let me know your thoughts about changing???

  11. I just purchased an XX and went to clean the under carraige and noticed that the center stand is rubbing on the chain. It appears that the exhaust needs a rubber bushing that keeps the stand off the chain. Is this correct? If so does anyone have any or is this dealer item only? IDEAS?

I inspected the chain and all looks good. to include the adjustment. Are there any other things to look for? What are good chain lubes?
