  1. I just love these oil threads. The problem with the CBX filters is a well documented issue and it’s flow. The filters for the CB750s fit OK but a Honda Service Bulletin warns against using them in the CBXs. Mike
  2. Of those who use Shell Rotella® T Synthetic SAE 5W-40: How long have you used it in the Bird? Noticed any adverse symptoms?
  3. If it operates smoothly leave it alone. If it catches, smooth out both surfaces with 0000 steel wool If you feel you must lubricate it then use powdered graphite.
  4. Hi Scated, Had the same situation earlier this year and replaced the OEM battery with one from AutoZone. Since then no problems in 3K miles (Rocky Mountains (cold as hell) or Death Valley (hot as hell)). However: the AutoZone battery comes with some specific directions to follow prior to initial use. Harlan (sort of a stepson, and a Bird owner himself) has worked at AutoZone for several years cautioned me that they had a high incidence of early failures in batteries not started up according to the directions. Good luck, Michael Pavlick
  5. Just put one on the 02XX. You will have to trim the locating tab on the Vista-Cruise to fit between the cables on the switch/cable assembly. To get the Vista-Cruise as close to the switch/cable assembly as possible I removed the rivet at the Vista-Cruise pivot point and fastened it to the switch/cable assembly through the pivot point with a small screw (countersunk brass wood screw). Solves two problems: fastens the Vista-Cruise rigidly to the switch/cable assembly and reduces the space taken up by the rivet head. Looks better too. Cautions: tightening the screw too tight will not allow the Vista-Cruise to pivot and using a long screw will interfere with the throttle operation. {The head of the rivet faces the switch/cable assembly and forces a space between the assembly and the Vista-Cruise mechanism. Replacing it lets you put the Vista-Cruise right up against the switch/cable assembly. Room is at a premium here. Someone suggested trimming off the ridge on the throttle assembly plastic sleeve assembly to improve response and smoothness. I did not find this necessary.} Take your time and do it right. Michael Pavlick
  6. Dock's Motel in Townsend is very clean, prices are low and it's close to Foothills Parkway, a nice warmup ride enroute Deal's Gap. Stayed there many times and recommend it. 865-448-2234 Michael
