  1. WC, did you just buy the Scottoiler Dual Injector and use it as-is without any special mount? I also like the modification of adding an in-line checkvalve - very nice touch...do you have a manufacturer name/part number for it still? Thanks! Jim
  2. Lance, check out the BIRD site in the UK...they have complete instructions, with photographs, on the VistaCruise installation. JAWS, or any number of others can give some supplementary, first-hand info on the installation and any quirks that may exist, if needed beyond what our folks here can help with. http://www.superblackbird.org/forum/showth...highlight=vista Jim
  3. Warchild, was just looking at your site and saw the Philips H780W Rallye bulbs mentioned...what's your experience with them? They are tough to find but I'd really like the advantages they seem to offer over the 55W bulbs. Thanks! Jim
  4. You might want to have a look at the VistaCruise throttle lock...AZ Motorsports has 'em for $21...I thought they looked a bit cheezy at first, and haven't used one, but the folks across the pond really swear by them and say they are extremely durable (the cheaper model is anyway...the more expensive model is junk, apparently) anyone have any experience with them here?
  5. How many miles do you have on your bike? I made an interesting discovery the other day...I commute on my '02, going 142 mi/day and was pulling into my driveway with the last bar blinking. After about 2500 mi., I was getting 165 mi/tank...last week, the clock ticked over to 4K miles, and I swear that between one day and the next, I went from 165 mi/tank to well over 200. I haven't filled it completely and the mileage has been consistent over a week of riding. I get home with between 1/3 and 1/2 tank remaining!! The first time this happened, I thought that the fuel guage had gone south, so was keeping good track of the mileage on the odometer...it was confirmed correct the next day when I filled up for $9 instead of the usual $13 for Super! Anyone else have a similar experience? Our brethren across the pond report that this is fairly typical. Jim
  6. TJ, what about raw milk that hasn't been pasteurized or homogenized? Or goat's milk for that matter? Are these as bad for you as the typical milk bought at the local grocery store? Jim
  7. Hey Good people...just an update on the situation with Mark. He did come through and get the funds to me. It was a while ago and I've been negligent in not posting this earlier...life kinda gets in the way sometimes and takes unexpected and consuming turns...Anyway, he was very gracious about it and apologetic regarding the misunderstandings and other things that ensued related to them. I feel that he was sincere and I much appreciated that effort on his part. I don't have any knowledge as to the situation with his Mom, his life, or any of the difficulties he's embroiled in, implied or known, as was evidenced by the nature of the interactions we had with him. I hope and pray that his life has at the very least started to be sorted out, and is headed in a positive direction. I also want to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the support you gave to me and on my behalf. It wasn't an amount of money that mattered, it was solely about integrity, which was ultimately proved in the end. You're a great group of folks and it's truly a privilege to be counted among you. Jim
  8. Dear fellow BlackBird Ambassadors and Diplomats, What a stir!! What a bunch of dingo's kidneys this has become... The "truth" as I am vehemently requested to tell, and is of very little relevance, but you decide. Mark sent me a check when we initially conducted our business, and I set it aside for depositing later that week. In the midst of the chaos that usually ensues when one is preparing to get a divorce, I misplaced the check in the mountains of paperwork I was going through and securing in my truck as it was a temporary "secure zone". I looked for it later, couldn't find it anywhere after dismantling my house and truck to find it. I waited a while hoping it would turn up unexpectedly, but it didn't. I sheepishly told Mark what was going on and requested another check and that I would void this one and send it back to him if it turned up. He graciously agreed and sent along another check...in the meantime, I found the original one when I was unloading my truck and all the doors were open and a breeze blew through the back and I noticed this bit of paper lodged way behind the back seat, behind the seatbelt mounts. It was the check :???: I emailed Mark and told him about it and we had a chuckle over it. Life happens. He requested that I deposit the new one instead, which I did and it subsequently bounced, also incurring a charge to me. I let him know, wasn't beligerent about it, just needed an explanation as to how he was going to resolve this. He dropped off the edge of the earth and after his previous reliability in communicating well and quickly, it seemed to portend undesireable things - I continued to send emails and PM's to him via his access from the board and personal emails over several weeks, it seems. No responses. :headscratch: So, this is my "sin" good people. I confess and invite your judgement. The only unpardonable sin I'm aware of is not trusting in the completed work on the cross at Calvary by my pal :worship: J.C. Jim
  9. The bike you've all been "admiring" has apparently a "donated" hugger on it, unfortunately courtesy of yours truly. After numerous emails and PM's to Mark, in an extension of good-faith, fairness and plenty of time and opportunity to make right by me, and nary one response - it seemed appropriate to give you all a heads-up lest you find yourself dealing with him in the future. The world's not going to come to a stop because of the money I'm out due to his bounced check and failure to do the honorable thing and demonstrate some integrity. I gave him a great deal and extended obviously too much trust to him, simply because he was from our board here, and was subsequently subjected to a betrayal of even that small measure of trust. Again, the money's not really the issue here, integrity is  I also would make known that he is the ONE negative exception to a wonderful group of folks in our community here, many of who I've had the pleasure of dealing with. Cheers, Jim
  10. Tim, no, didn't get the clear lenses and I've not washed it in the conventional sense like I would wash my truck, etc. I usually give the worse bugs/junk a liberal dousing with Windex, WD-40 for the difficult stuff... wipe away, then give it a couple of coats of good wax. Bike hasn't even been out in the rain!!! maybe heavy fog... :???: But, the stuff doesn't evaporate and it wipes away with a wet cloth, leading me to think it's coolant. The weather's been so bad and there have been so many distractions otherwise, that I've not been out for a ride in about two weeks. I want to grab a sample to check it out at work. Thanks for the suggestions, but it's really a mystery, isn't it...no easy explanations as I would have hoped from our esteemed XX-scholars here  Jim
  11. Obby, that's a good point, though ethylene glycol is seriously poisonous and why there's labels all over the stuff about leaving it out where kids and animals can get to it. It's very sweet like sugar - no, I'll pass and bring a bit of it in to the lab. A quick and dirty test or two will tell me the tale and I'll spare what few brain cells I've got left... :???: Jim
  12. You guys are a real laugh-riot  First-off, the NikMeister only waters HD's and not venerable blackbirds, unless he's experiencing incontinence and other assorted bladder-difficulties that he's been too self-conscious about to share with us. Lasting 30 minutes? I guess that WOULD be a good thing now, wouldn't it? Spooge, I doubt it, there's not nearly enough for that to account for it... Maxx, the bike is stored in my insulated garage, in absolutely dry conditions. I'm still thinking it's from the cooling system since I've just left it there without wiping it off and it doesn't evaporate, even after a couple of days - leading me to believe that it's ethylene glycol, or whatever stuff they use in antifreeze these days. I suppose that if I REALLLY wanted to approach this aggressively, I could collect a sample, bring it to work, and have it analyzed. Jim
  13. You lads ought to consider a career in stand-up comedy... Which turnip truck were you riding in that you think I fell off of, anyway? Actually guys, it IS black...and a 2002...long story...No, the bike is stored INSIDE and under cover. Rain??? Glad you were able to sort that one out for yourself, Rich, I've greatly benefitted from your astute powers of observation and personal experience. It's colorless and the only thing that makes sense is that it's coolant, but like I said, I've looked at the cooling system up front where it might blow back from and everything looks fine. Very small droplets exclusively on the right INSIDE of the windscreen, sometimes gets as far as the front of the fuel tank. Is there an overflow or cooling system vent pipe tucked away somewhere that's not easy to find that might be the culprit? Cheers, Jim
  14. I've not seen anyone comment about this before, but here's the mystery I'm trying to solve...After 30 minute or longer rides, I notice very small drops of liquid on the right inside of my screen and sometimes enough that it gets back on the tank and bleeder on the brake master cylinder. At first I was aghast  when I saw it because I thought it was brake fluid since I changed over to Galfer SS lines when I installed the VFR bars. It wiped right off and the paint stayed intact (Whew!!!!!). The stuff is water-soluble and wipes away easily. I've had the lowers off, looked all around the radiator, etc., and there is no trace of any cooling system leaks. Any insights? Jim
  15. Ya know, I was told that WD-40 works great on the sticker residue... Jim
