I think thats right fronts are 1157's and rears are 1156's. I think?
  2. I'll probibly just go with the 99% flat black. My next question would be what is the best way to support the XX while my swing arms is at the powdercoaters? Can I just put down the center stand and remove the swingarm or is there another better way? thanks!
  3. I pulled my factory plugs at 20,000 and they were still in excellent shape. I went ahead and replaced them with new NGK Iridiums.
  4. TeXXaSS. Awsome photo! I have never been to a track day yet but its great to see how hard you can push these machines! I think so many times people think that they can out ride these machines. that photo is proof that mr honda designed these bikes to handle way more then the average joe will throw at them! I am curious if you have the M1/Z6's on in the knee dragging photo?
  5. Just my .02 I used all top of the line DP brake pads and they were not nearly as good as the EBC's. Go with EBC!
  6. I have decided that this winter Dec- January. I am going to powdercoat the swingarm black. The pegs and sets will remain silver, but I want to match the swing arm as best I can to the frame color. I was hopeing someone here has done this before with great results and could share what finish best matches the frame.
  7. I had a guy this summer tell me this same scenareo this summer about his 98 or 99 superhawk. I powerwached that thing for 40 minutes and the thing never quit. I was unable to fix his problem. so while i know your frustration and have heard of this type of thing happening with hondas unfortunatly i can not offer any suggestios for a cure

    Dynojet

I would get an air/fuel reading before spending the money on a jet kit. If you a/f mixture is good there is really no reason for putting a jet kit in. Yes a jet kit will help with the flat spot, but I dont believe that it totally eliminates it. And unless you are going to install the kit by yourself this is a rather expensive mod for such little change. Thats just my .02

    XX barends

You may feel a little more vibration now, but as your tires wear out the vibrations may increase dramaticly due to the lighter bar ends.
  10. I have never run the M1 on the rear but I know that since I changed the gearing to 16/45 the Z6 has a hard time hooking up in first gear under hard acceleration. I run 42 lbs of air in it, and when I abruptly get on the gas in first the rear will just hop, the tire wont hook up enough to even smoke!
  11. Sorry I havn't posted any pictures of scans of the dyno sheet. I dont know how to use the scanenr so I will have to wait for my girlfriend to do that, and I think she has the camera with my pictures of it too
  12. There really isn't much reason to run anything but Metzler z6/m1, I am considering an M3 front next time, just to try it out. But my opinion is just run whats a proven winner and so far the z6/m1 combo is tops
  13. I honestly dont know about 03' XX black the only Blackbrid I have ever seen is mine, and one popping a wheelie from a stop light in Wichita Kansas about a year ago. It was a black XX with clear front signals is all I remember
  14. How about BLACK!!! Why ruin a good thing?
  15. Rotating problem sloved!!! I bought some Walker Muffler Acoustic Seal. I put one bead around the mid pipe. sliped on the exhaust and rode it 300 miles and no silencer rotation! I hope this trick will work for you. I wanted to try this and if it didn't work i would rivit them still. But the Walker Acoustic Seal seems to be cleaner
  16. I will post up a scan of my dyno sheet and some pictures asap. But I gained 4 hp this weekend and got my XX repainted. I have been running my 2Bros Carbon Fiber slip ons for a while now with out rejetting. So this weekend we hooked my otherwise stock 97' up to the dyno. Base line run was 131hp after changing the jetting with a Dynojet kit, Changing the air filter to a K&N and replacing the spark plugs with NGK Iridiums, we made another dyno run which turned 135hp. I also repainted the XX 2000 Mercedez-Benz black. And yes I know this post is worthless without pics. But I will get them posted as soon as I can.
  17. Honda's touch up paint is Colorite. I work at the local dealership and Honda's touch up paint is ordered from Colorite. Oh and as far as paint goes. Black is Black. Lincoln Navigator black will match 97' XX black and i imagine it would match any other black that doesnt have any sort of wierdo metallic
  18. I have CarbonFiber 2Brothers on my 1997 XX the sound is sweet it sounds really tuned and smooth. The fit and finish however is not the best. My left side silencer is always rotating itself. So about 80% of the time my left exhaust tip is facing in.
  19. I just picked up a brand new pair of Joe Rocket "Sport" Saddle Bags for the XX. I was wondering if anyone has used these and if they work well? just an FYI the Joe Rocket Sport line of luggage is being discontinued I picked up these $130.00 saddlebags for $70.00
  20. I believe that the Goldwing Grips are considerably longer then the XX grips. Touring grips in general are much longer then Sportbike grips
  21. The only reason an exhaust from one of the new GSXR's or R6's may not work would be that both have a valve to keep the appropriate back pressure. For instance I have a friend who has a new GSXR 600 and he installed a Yoshimura exhaust on it. The Yoshi exhaust snakes around under the bike a little ways and then comes up about twice as far as stock. The stock pipe barely cleared the rider peg and the Yohi exhaust is so long that it acutally mounts to the rear passenger peg. I am putting up this information as a just so you know. Because I am unsure if this will have any negitive effects on a blackbird. IMO if i had a new R6 or GSXR600 I would leave the stock pipe on and just Power Command the bike. The aftermarket cans do not seem to be as good as the factory exhaust
  22. Got back from my Colorado tour, it was beautiful and the riding was great! I will hopefully get to jetting and dynoing the XX in the next couple of weeks. I have a playdate set up for the drag strip in early September, me a zx12r, hayabusas, gsxr1000r K5, zzr1200, a 125hp Harley Davidson Road King. and a Yamaha R1. i need to work on my launches and such before then. I have a couple of questions about set up: What is the recommended tire pressure for drag racing. I run the Metzler M1/Z6 combo. Is there a prefered brand or certain type of strap for the front? Would it be worth the money to get a dog bone lowering link. Slam it at the track but be able to return it to its stock ( +6mm shimm) height when ready to actually ride the street again? Finally should I order a new set of clutch plates? how tough are the XX stock clutchs? i know for every day use many riders say their clutches last 50,000 miles but at the strip and practicing for the strip is not normal conditions. Approx. how many passes on a clutch before its smoked? Along with the clutch question how hard is it to repack a clutch? I have never done it myself and was wondering how difficult it actually is?
  23. You are probibly right. I ordered a new chain and sprockets today. 16T in the front this time. So even if my $700 exhaust and $125 jet kit dont make a difference at least the 16T front will make it feel like I'm faster!! Will I feel a difference with new plugs (20,000 on the stock plugs), exhaust, jet kit, and 16T front? i am hoping for a noticable difference in power, now I know the 16T doesnt add power but will all this shit actually make a noticable difference?
  24. After reading around on the forums a little I decided to go with the stock filter again. I will be leaving Saturday for a trip through the Rockie mountains. Unfortunatly I wont have a chance to jet and put my new plugs in. At least I am going with a bunch of Harley riders so even if the XX runs like crap I will still be able to keep up!
  25. I got a set of Two Brothers carbon fiber slip on's. Now I am ready to rejet the bike to get it running straight. I am thinking I will switch out my stock paper filter for a K&N to improve flow. This is still negotiable because I have heard both sides when it comes to K&N's. Do you think they will provide more POWER to the bike then the stock air filter? The other question I have concerns rejetting the carbs. i am planning on using a Stage 1 jet kit by Dynojet. unless of course there is a better kit, I should use? I will be having two very compitent motorcycle mechanics install the jet kit and I have the luxury of a dyno, for tuning. To top that off when installing the exhaust we pulled the header and welded in O2 bungs so each carb will be set individually. I was wondering if there are any tricks or hints when it comes to rejetting the XX. Or any quirks in the jet kit that i should be aware of. Thanks for any tips you guys have and I will post pictures and dyno sheets as soon as I get all of the work done.
