  1. The UK site advises to put at least a 6mm washer above the rear shock, has anyone tried this??? I was wondering because they advise that it makes the XX handle so much better in curves. Anyone??
  2. Just rolled 19,000 yesterday. I also run it on Honda oil.
  3. Is this noise at 4000-4500 the CCT? if it is, the modified one from Honda will do the job? or should I get one of those after market ones made for our bikes? Phil.
  4. The guy that bought all my XX parts (including the engine) runs it on 17 Front and 37 rear, he claims that it does 240mph (not digital speedo) The rear sprocket was made by a unknown Co.
  5. http://www.bikersoracle.com/jaws/intro.htm http://www.gdlcycles.com/HondaBikes/CBR1100XX.htm ENJOY....................... Phil.
  6. Pete! I do car servicing on the side, mmmmmmmmmm! for about 20 years now, Tranny fluid works wonders, even more so GM top engine cleaner/choke cleaner (NOT TO BE MIXED IN TANK) But if you really want to ponder on something wacky, The #1 way of really truly decoking an engine is water...... NOT a bucket full, a spray mist threw the intake will clean EVERY OUNCE of crap in ANY engine.
  7. Try about 1/4 of a quart of normal transmission (red) fluid on a full tank, and yes!!! it does work.
  8. I really don't want to change out the standard pipes as they look good and it's quiet, I have my GS1000 for noise.
  9. I have a 2002 XX and was wondering on spending $300+ on a power commander? My XX runs amazing, will the P/Commander make it any better? Phil.
  10. I agree with OBBY! I did the same thing on a GS1000 years ago, I over revved it and bent the conrods/valves, completely messed everything up,
  11. Thanxx Lexxus, I believe you are correct.
  12. I thought 130 miles to the tank was too low, but I shall find out this week if it's better. They checked the air filter and they said that it needed changing. The service manual states that at approx every 16000 miles the plugs should be changed.
  13. Actually, not going to get raped at the dealers, most of them I know on a personal level, so instead of $60hr they are only charging me $40 and the parts are at cost plus 10% I told them about my 130 miles to a tankful, they said once it's got it's 17K service I should get a lot more than that.
  14. It looks extremely close, and probably will fit but, on the 02 fender it has stick up slots with screw holes for part of the injection electical items to bolt to, the 97 doesn't have them. So if someone has an 02 rear fender complete fairly cheap let me know, I have a 97 in perfect condition with a rear sub frame.
  15. I sold my 97 XX engine to a guy in New Orleans, So I went down there and fitted the engine within his frame (his XX had been under water) anyway, I asked him how fast was his xx, (not digital instruments) he told me about 230MPH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I said NO WAY, then he showed me his gearing, 16 front 37 rear!!!! He had the 37 tooth rear specially made, so I guess he maybe telling the truth!
  16. I live down here in humid Louisiana, like today was t-shirt weather, and it's always bloody hot. It was so so nice when I drove to Colorado, NOT USING THE A/C in my truck! When I got back toward La, I had to use the A/C again! I'll keep a close eye on it, as today was my 1st ride out on it, will post my ride "in the pub" Phil.
  17. WOW! quick responses! The Honda dealership of whom I am very friendly with says that they sell this stuff which sells for around $20 for qt, will keep the temp down and give me extra HP! What you think??
  18. 02 XX, what should the average digital temp reading gauge read? Mine is most of the time above 200F and then the fan kicks in about 220F It runs great, if on the interstate it reads about 180-185. Is this normal?
  19. Thanks, when winter is fully here, I will attempt to change it.
  20. I have a 1997 rear fender (#101446-001) (bike bandit part #) and I want to put it on a 2002 model (1473510-001) Will it fit??????? they look simular!!!!!!
  21. I have the hook up at the local Chevy dealers, I was a mechanic there for 2 years prior to going with the police. PM me on waht you need and I'll get you a price at 10% above cost. Phil.
  22. If anyone out there has never heard of this product let me give you a brief note on them. It's a automatic chain oiler, which has a tube from your intake area (carb or injection) which travels to a oil storage area, which in turn pumps drops of oil to your chain. I had one of these on my Kawasaki 1000RX and it worked wonders, no messy chain oil all over my rear wheel... I will be getting one very soon when my 02 xx arrives. http://www.riderstation.com/oiler.php
  23. I e-mailed them 3 times about parts for my 97 xx, as of today (2 months later) I am still awaiting a response from them! Great business ethics!
