  1. Yeah.........I changed my mind & have pretty well decided on doing both at the same time (my check for Steeler's tickets got returned for the 2nd time today :icon_frown: so I've got a little more $$$ than I thought)

Back to the GE/Cyber White lights........anybody tried either of these before?? The Cypber Whites were Xenons as well, at less than half the price (and ya know I have a hard time passin' up a deal like that :icon_wink: )

  2. I remembered Tim talking about that adapter in a different thread, and thought maybe that might factor into why the kid's 'puter was tellin' him H4 or 9003.....does it take those sizes if you leave the 'dapter on?? What exactly is the purpose of that adapter then??

In all fairness to him, he did show me the screen, so I can't blame him for the misinformation their system was givin' him

  3. OK.........just went to buy some of these, but that just brought up some more questions. Several people on this thread and my other one about xenon bulbs have said we take the H7's.

Guy at Advance Auto store just looked it up on his 'puter while we were talking, and he's showin' the XX takes H4's or 9003........not H7???? :icon_think:

Also...........aside from the silver stars, I found GE has these ones I've not seen before......Nighthawks?? They were $10 cheaper per pair than the Philips.

There were also these Xenon Quartz Cyber Whites by Navigator. They were $20 cheaper than the SilverStars. Are these by chance the ones you were talking about Charlie that you had gotten & said were just as bright for half the price??

Fonz - The Bird takes the H7 Bulbs. I had Sylvania Silverstar's before I installed the HID's. They were a vast improvement over stock but I think they were about $15 each at the time. I got some bulbs from the local auto parts store for my truck that were $6 each and the improvement was exactly like if I installed Silverstars, but were an off brand. Like MileHi says, stay away from the "tinted" bulbs and go with white or as some call them "super whites". They are fairly inexpensive and the improvement is impressive.
  4. If I'm only going to replace one of the bulbs right now with those xenons or silver stars, am I correct in assuming the better one to change would be the low beam, since it will be used in both settings?

I guess I'm wondering if the new bulb in the low beam will still help make the high beam brighter

  5. Both are within $5 of each other at most places. Just curious if anything better on one over the other as far as use/installation etc.????

Not interested in Throttlemeisters........neat, but too much dough ray me for my wallet

  6. Baby wipes work well for this also. Just FYI.

I'll have to give those a try next time.........Lord knows I got enough of 'em around here now!! :icon_wink:

  7. I've been using it the last couple times to clean my rims with. Works great to get all the road grime/grease/brake dust off. Wipes right off like butter.

My only concern is having it that close to the tires & brakes. I spray it directly onto the rag, then wipe........NOT spraying it all over down there, then wiping.

Anyone else clean their rims this way. I've done it a few times, and so far, haven't noticed any slippage with the brakes/tires or anything. Does the lubricant part evaporate??? (Of course now I've just jinxed myself by saying this out loud)

  8. That's funny..........I just tightened those bolts 'cause the mirror felt a little wiggly to me. Never in a million years did I think I was gonna have to take the whole friggin' mirror off just to change the damn bulb??? :icon_duh: I just figured the lense snapped/fitted in there..........Sure glad I asked you guys & didn't muscle it after all. To think........I almost stuck a flat blade screwdriver along the edge to see if I could pop it out :icon_eek:

Thanx for the responses guys!! And Adam.........Your's definately wins funniest/most creative (albeit least helpful :icon_wink: )!! :icon_razz::icon_dance:

BTW.........so what size replacement bulb do I need? Clear, not amber I'm assuming? Thanx

  9. OK..........dumb question, I know. Just went out to pop the lense cover to see what size bulb I need, as I have to keep smacking my mirror housing right now to get the bulb to work.

Don't see any screws that need removed. Tried popping it out, but don't want to take a chance on breaking some tabs or the whole lense.......I have a habit of muscling things when they should be finessed :icon_redface:

  10. Had this thread in the Pub few weeks ago. Thought I'd try here too... little different crowd.............

Looking for chrome/polished barends with "XX" engraved on them. Closest I've found so far are "CBR" ones on ebay.

I swear I saw XX ones within last year, but can't find them now when I'm ready to buy.

    Little help :icon_sos::icon_wink:

  11. Glad to hear so many are using 87.......now I feel a whole lot less guilty! As far as the lean/rich thing......that was something else in the back of my mind........if I've been using 93/94 this whole time, could it be contributing to my running rich/fouled plugs problems I'd been having???

  12. I believe that owner's manual calls for 87; that's what I use and have never had any

sort of problem, i.e. no pinging. Why pay for the premium spread, when the cheap

    stuff will do? :icon_biggrin:

My thoughts exactly!! I'm a tightass on consumeable stuff like that :icon_naughty:

  13. What's everyone use..........the cheapy 87 octane, or the higher end 92-94 stuff. I don't know why I'm thinking I read somewhere that we're supposed to use the higher end stuff (thought I saw a tag inside the tank or something??) but now I can't find that, and wonder if I was hallucinating.

Anyways.........been using the 87 octane the last few tanks, and so far, haven't noticed any discernable differences. I know Sam says he uses regular in his 'Busa

  14. Anyone got any advice on this? Think I'm gonna clean the first "new" set I bought back in October & pull the 2nd "new" set I just got last month since she won't start again.

Ruled out sandblasting based on some feedback I got. Just plain 'ol gas, kerosene, brake cleaner, some specialty cleaner...........what do you/would you guys use????

  15. Helped my dicky back immensely, and gave me much more flexibility and stamina. OK......I'll give.....is this being lost in translation??? What the hell's a "dicky back" Brian??? :icon_wink:

Also developed quite a decent sixpack - the core excercises work the gut area bigtime.

Yeah........that's something I've noticed about it too. Never had a 6 pak before.......and I'm a long way from there now brutha!! :icon_redface:

  16. Ok...I'm kinda giving up...Me too!!!

I'll still play along and continue to weigh in, but I'm losing hope of beating anyone...

You'll beat me Melissa!! Just weighed myself.........UP 10 lbs from last Friday!!!! :icon_eek:

Played basketball for couple hours with my nephew & son on Sunday, and have run/walked couple times this week for at least 1/2 hour per. I give up.......with that kinda weight gain I may as well just become some fat sloth sitting on the couch continually eating a bucket of chicken :icon_rolleyes:
