  1. Joe/Josh.......thanx....appreciate the advice So how do you guys think I ended up with an FI cowl?? Did some 'Birds come from the factory like that, or did one of the previous owners make the change???
  2. Thanx for takin' the time Jay! :icon_thumbsup: Much as I was lookin' forward to it........not sure if I'll be makin' RedNeXXt after what happened today
  3. OK........took the upper fairing & fender off the bike last month to have some cracks plastic welded before I have her resprayed. Picked them up tonight & started putting her back together in anticipation of going to Bowen's Bash next weekend. Question arises from this........the piece the ram air screens are mounted to that fits under the headlights, and rests on the bottom of the fairing. There is a vertical plastic pop rivet/push pin on each side of the piece (right of tank, left of tank), faces front to back. WTF does that thing snap to........I can't find anything they mate up to??? Hopefully these pictures do a better job of explaining WTH I'm talking about. Pushpin/pop rivet is in dead center of last 2 pics.......don't know how to do the arrow thingy to point it out. 1st shot is from farther out to show you general vicinity, 2nd one closer up to show exactly what I'm talkin' about. Also.......is the ram air duct supposed to just stop underneath where the upper & lower top covers come together, or was there something else running from there up to the screens at the bottom of the fairing??? It's only been a month, but I've apparently flushed my brain since then & can't remember shit Anyways....... may not be able to see/reply to anything/anybody until Sunday afternoon/night. Thanx in advance!! Oh yeah.......It's in my sig line, but.......she's a '98
  4. I'm assuming this is the place you guys are talkin' about??? http://www.cyclegear.com/index.cfm
  5. Do we really need 10 lines??? I just thought it'd be 2 or 3
  6. You and your midget girlfriend already had my keys........remember?!? You missed your chance bubba!! And I'll definately be more careful with them if I make RedNeXXt! (BTW.........took your advice and now carry a 2nd one on me) I could always use a longer nap Timmy!!
  7. WOW Thanx for that prophetic advice........You're a real sage after 87 posts Don't know how I got along in life before you decided to chide in with your advice?!? :icon_duh: Oh yeah........and Ase is spelled Ace last I knew :icon_duh: .......Not that I'm tryin' to tell 'ya how to handle your business or nothin' :icon_duh:
  8. Don't have time right now........gotta take my nap for work tonight........but I'll go out soon and snap some pix to post so you can hopefully see what I'm lookin' at. As far as chicken strips on the rear.........I don't think mine are too wide
  9. WOW.........that IS a generous offer Mike!! :icon_thumbsup: I appreciate you lookin' out for me with the intent of that offer. As I said in my reply to Tim above, I'm probably going to compromise and drop down to a 190 when I buy new tires this summer. Current ones have about 5,000 miles on them. Still think they've got some decent wear left in them, as I don't really do any burnouts (too cheap ), but that front one with the cracks in the treads kinda concerns me
  10. I've thought about doing just that.......dropping to a 190, cause yes, truth be told, the other reason I kept the 200 is that I've always thought one of the things that looked so kick ass about sport bikes was those big ass fatties on the rear!! However........Buddy has a 190 on his 'Busa, and it actually almost looks BIGGER than my 200?!? :icon_think: Question on a similar note.......Just bought my tires year & half ago after I bought bike. Think they've still got decent tread on them for part of this summer, but am planning on ordering new ones soon just to have ready. That's when I've been thinking of bumping back down to 190 on rear. Question is this.......front tire I noticed has "cracks" inside some of the tire/tread grooves. Is that normal wear & tear, or is that a symptom of dry rot already?? On a cage, wouldn't worry about it much, but on a bike I regularly push +10 over , kinda concerned me when I found it. Wanted your guy's opinions/advice
  11. I "get" what you're saying Mike. However........bear in mind I'm coming off my 1st bike, an '82 Yamaha Vision 550, to the 'Bird. So I already think the 'Bird handles (and does everything else for that matter)like a dream........even with the 200 on the rear. When I take the 'Bird on the MotoGP circuit to give Nicky a run for the title....I'll probably swap back to a stock 180 on the rear. 'Til then, I have no delusions my riding style is good enough that the tour will be recruiting me anytime soon
  12. Russ, Jaws sells a set but with the conversion it would be very pricey. Warchild is about to have a Group Buy on the Stainless lines with a whole bunch of color choices. Thanx John..........Is that over on the "other" site???
  13. This says a lot about you.... Do tell Confuscious Chris That's what it had on it already when I took it in after buying it........so that's what I left on it Edited: Also Tim........my comment was more aimed towards the fact I didn't modify/fabricate the swingarm, chain or anything else structurally
  14. Thought replacing the stock lines with these would look sweet. Anyone done it on theirs and got a line on approppriate suppliers?? Rick (Cossi) put blue Galfers on his as I recall???
  15. Ummmmmmm..........I've got a Dunlop 200 on my rear, and I didn't modify anything :icon_think:
  16. OK..........He's obviously pretty ripped, so who am I to argue with the finished product............But his form seems terrible. He's swinging/jerking those dumbells. Not controlled/isolated movements at all
  17. Isn't this the stuff Oprah said she had success with??
  18. Unbelieavable how much you've gotten done in such a short time!! Are you on vacation or something?? Looks awesome.......my dream basement/sports room! Maybe you should give up Krogers & do construction for a living
  19. Ridin' down to meet up with Jay & Josh tomorrow night for bike night, and wanted to hurry up & get it installed for the trip down. Any helpful hints for a quick/easy installation??
  20. Here's a link to the thread with the comparison pix................ http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forums/index.php?...t=0#entry424283
  21. Put the SilverStars in this morning before we left for the day. Drastic difference........just the low beam shoots quite a ways out. Dos & Joe.........you visual aids proved invaluable.......thanx again!! I took before & after pix just for the heck of it. If they came out worthwhile, I'll post 'em on here later

    XX barends

OK.........I finally broke down & just bought the CBR ones, as I can no longer find the XX ones & am tired of waiting. They came today. Put them on, & my question is this. They weigh quite a bit less than the stockers. Is the weight important for damping vibrations as someone told me before, or should I be alright with these???

    Vista vs. Nep

Called a couple of local shops, 'cause I was hoping to do this before tomorrows ride. When I ask if they have the Vista cruise, they immediately say "yeah", but when I ask if they've got the one for the dual throttle cable for our bike, they've both told me they only have the ones for cruisers, not sport bikes??? What the hell's that mean? They've both also asked about the handlebar diameter???
  24. VERY cool!! Thanx Dos & Joe!! :icon_clap: I was in the right vicinity then........just didn't "feel" anything I thought I should be. This helps a lot! :icon_thumbsup: P.S........nice carbon fiber fender Dos!!
  25. Tried looking/reaching around in there to get a feel for changing the bulb. Are they above or below the oiler cooler? I can't hardly get my hand up in there, and nothings feeling like the back of the bulbs so far. What's the white plastic oversize nut lookin' thing.......does that unscrew for the bulbs or something?? Anyone got a schematic or video or anything........headlights for dummies maybe???
