Soooooo........rear signals aren't working at all.......dash indicators aren't working at all (except for right one VERY infrequently).......front signals/running lights go dark when I hit turn signal switch for either side, and don't come back on 'til I release the button. Is there a concensus on what all this adds up to???
  3. No.......never tried the Silver Stars after Clear Alternatives sent me some replacements. Took them back in fact, but was definately thinking about picking a pair up again yesterday. Will try some of the other chrome bulbs CA sent as first step though. Actually......glad you reminded me rear bulbs don't come on as running lights. Why would they not be working at all, all the sudden now though???? Wasn't thinking the bulbs caused the overheating. Just the opposite.......was brainstorming if the hot day/longer ride/excessive engine heat yesterday may have fried something in the electrical system (though I can't really believe high 90's & 200 miles are very extreme, to have caused that)??? Negative terminal had just worked it's way loose IIRC Haven't checked the connections since lights were working OK before yesterday. When I say OK.......Left one worked perfectly fine, Right dash indicator would either flash normal, or fast.......but never not at all
  4. OK.........Week & half /400 miles since I put new battery in. Rode all afternoon yesterday, about 200 miles.....down to Honda dealer in Troy for shits & giggles. Very hot/humid here yesterday. Anyways........I'm almost home & going over a bouncy section of I-75, & notice that now my LEFT turn signal isn't working at all. Dash indicator is completely blank.......no fast flash like on the right side. Never had any problems with that one after switching to the chrome bulbs. Right side will work very sporadically now, though it had been working either normal, or giving me the fast flash all day. Now.....either the indicator stays dark, or works once in awhile. Front running lights are working fine, but go dark when I hit the turn signal button for whichever side. Not sure if this has any importance/relevance, but I noticed when I pulled in garage that the bike felt VERY hot. Temp guage was about halfway, which it hardly EVER strays off C on the bottom. Fans kicked on as I was shutting her down. Went out 'bout hour later, and could still feel the heat radiating off her.......especially around the fairing vents, and inside the gas tank/fork area. Yoke was still hot to the touch, even though she'd been in shade for 45 minutes to hour now??? Never had a lick of trouble in the last 2 years with my signals 'til I switched to the chrome bulbs. And if it does have to do with the chrome bulbs, why would the left one just now start acting up a month later??? Edited to add: Just went out to check 'em again this morning. Situation the same. Just noticed the rear running lights/turn signals aren't working at all. If it was the rear bulbs causing all this, I'd still get a fast flash, right??? Plus it'd be a major coincidence that both bulbs took a puke at the same time
  5. No. Haven't heard a work from Pual... in I believe 3-4 weeks. Don't know what happend to those guys... Especially considering I liked him, He was a very stand up guy. Well.......hopefully he didn't go outa business on 'ya Eric before he could validate his claims. At least you got a free set of pipes outa the deal that you really like & you think fixed your torque curve He may still be angry at "the peanut gallery"..........

  8. I was informed by the gurus on the list it was... it goes away immediately as I pull in the clutch lever, and only does it while idling in neutral. I think mine's just the opposite. I noticed yesterday it seemed to stop as I quit accelerating/started coasting. Is that the only way to tell the difference between clutch/CCT issues??

All this talk about CCT's & the grinding/scraping sound my bike's making from under the fairing & down by the front wheel has me wondering if mine's not going bad as well??? 23,500 miles on her........When do these CCT's usually start goin' bad? And am I reading Keith's post correctly that you can try adjusting it before replacing it?

  12. Well SHEEEYITE.......just picked the battery up from being tested at the shop...DEAD, which should be good news. Came home to put in the garage, & start tracking down prices on a new one so maybe Sam & I can still go ridin' yet today......rear tire's FLAT!! Big screw/nail broke off in it, stickin' out like a shank! Musta picked it up while riding on the shoulder the other night :icon_wall: I'm really thinkin' God don't want me ridin' today!!
  13. Checked the terminals while I was waiting for Sam to get there, 'cause I was thinkin' the same thing.....both were tight. I think it's at least 3 coats + clear Fucko!! Like I said......just brainstormin' trying to figure out what the hell's goin' on. BTW......What's YMMV?? Just put the R/R on brand new, 2 years ago. It's got about 9,000 miles on it. Battery was brand new at same time. Took battery out & in tonight for testing, but they were about to close, and it needed charged, so I'll find out in morning if it's shot or not
  14. Just curious what the normal/average, expected lifespan of a regulator/rectifier would/should be??? Also.......would/could it be possible that the chrome bulb issue in my other thread would have anything to do with the bike suddenly cutting out while running (needles dropped, dash lights dim, bike starts running REAL rough at highway speeds....spitting & sputtering, backfiring, lurching, etc) Just brainstorming here. Bike is completely dead once I turned off, and then turned back on again. And NO......I don't know anything about these vicious "trailer queen" allegations that are being spread around

  16. UPDATE: I had called Nikko @ Clear Alternatives on the direct line, right after I posted the above. Just got a box delivered this morning with 2 new sets each of chrome & amber!! :icon_thumbsup:

  18. It's funny you say that........I thought we had it figured out. I took Adam's suggestion & gapped the springs/contacts on the bottom & sides a bit more, put the bulb back in last night......and PRESTO!! She was working fine again.....no matter how much I moved it around/jiggled it. Took for a spin today ('bout 75 miles) and she's still working fine.......until she's not....WTF?!? Got about 20 miles, signals were working fine, then all the sudden, next time I go to change lanes, they start givin' me the 'ol fast blink. Then a little later, they start working OK again, then a bit later they start acting up again, etc, etc, etc I'm thinkin' at this point it's GOT to be those bulbs. NEVER had this problem with the stockers, and they never had the advantage of the contacts being pryed out farther. I'm confuzzled I picked up some chrome/iridium/rainbow lookin' Silver Star 1157's last night, 'cause the amber bulbs they sent me with the 2nd set of lenses are 1156's single filament, so those won't work either, and I'm tired of dicking around with it. Guess we'll see if the SS's fit any better. I've been trying to get ahold of Clear Alternatives for a week now, and all I ever get since the last time I spoke with them several weeks ago when they sent me 2 of the same side, is a busy signal, or an operator message. I got VM once, & that was during business hours, so not exactly sure what's goin' on. Inserted a note in the box when I sent their first set of lenses back asking them to call me. Hopefully I hear back from them or can find an email addy on their website EDIT: Found their website & direct #. Guess their 800#'s been on the fritz since last week and's supposed to get fixed today. They're sending out correct ambers & new set of chromes to try
  19. It'll only let me turn it to "lock" it one way, not the other.......so I know it's in correctly. And see, that's the flukey thing Adam, 'cause if the socket was the problem, why would the stock & amber bulbs fit snugly?? Yet I don't understand why both chrome bulbs seem to fit OK in the left socket if it were the bulb?? Weird
  20. Got a flukey situation that doesn't make any sense to me........ Anyone else had a problem with the chrome bulbs fitting sloppy in the turn signal socket?? My stock ones fit fine, the replacement amber ones fit fine (other than they sent me 1156 single filament rather than the 1157 dual filament), but the chrome ones are sloppy in just my right socket (left one seems to fit fine)??? This is causing it to flash fast, or go out completely. I would think it's the socket, except the other 2 sets fit fine. But then again.....both chrome bulbs seemed to fit fine in the left socket, which would indicate it's the socket, and not the bulb??? :icon_think:
  21. Well that's because of a number of things... one you guys are tough, He didn't seem to mind how "tough" we were when he was espousing the virtues of his pipes while trying to sell them to us?!? BTW....did he ever pay the board for his advertisement?? I know you said before, you were paying him for these pipes Eric........but I sincerely hope you changed your mind on that after all the "realworld" R&D you're providing him....not to mention the fact his pipes didn't do what he so adamantly said they would. But then again.......I still may be "guessing about what I don't understand"

  24. 'Nother question: the little brass colored bracket I've got leaning up against the mirror mount.......that's where that goes, right??? In other words......it goes between the mirror, and the side of the screen, right?? Not on the inside of the screen, right?? I'm 99.9% sure of this, but I just find it hard to believe there aren't more scratches against the screen part with that metal being there. For some reason, I keep drawing a blank about where this stuff was when we tore her down
