  1. I agree. Although I have the 2000 with the needle gauge, my temp rises to about the same level as it always has. But I think it might cool a bit quicker as I bring it back up to speed. Or maybe it's just me "hoping" to see some improvement. But the bottom line is, it hasn't hurt my performance, and the bike is still running great. Jay
  2. There have been some pretty good posts here explaining this process, and here's a link to a pretty good write up that explains how to do it. http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/howto/rsuspshim/ The reason to shim a bike is to alter the geometry of it. By putting more weight up front, you'll get some better handling. However, you don't want to go too drastic, 6mm should be the max, otherwise you're going to experience some difficulty in handling. I haven't yet done this myself, but I plan on doing it as soon as I get some time. I'm not going to be ordering any parts for this, I'm just going to go to Home Depot and get some washers that will fit my bolt. I'm also probably going to be testing this in increments, maybe 2mm at a time until I get it to a point I like, and am comfortable with. Jay
  3. Thanks Guys for all the great info! Peter- the website to motonation is great. Looks like I know where I'm riding to doing this weekend I used newenough to buy a pair of Joe Rocket Revolution boots, but they don't fit that well, and I'm exchanging them actually. The bitch of it is, I even went to a local stealer that carries Joe Rocket, tired on the boot, and it fit ok. The ones I got in the mail were just slightly different, maybe different model year at the stealer, and they didn't fit as nice. Steve- I was considering the Vertebra II, but I understand they squeek a lot...what's your opinion after they've been broken in some on how squeeky they are? Jay
  4. Hey Folks, I need a new pair of boots, and I'm pretty sold on the Sidi Strada, but I'm curious as to your experience with sizing them. I also ride bicycles, and I have a pair of Sidi bike shoes, and I take a size 47 for those...which is like a 12 according to their sizing chart. But I only take a 10.5-11 in a typical street shoe. I'm having a hard time finding a "stealer" in my area that carries them to try them on, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Thanks for all the feedback....Before Iain's post, I was still torn between Pilot Roads and a pair of Avons, but that settles it. PR's for my bird. Now all I have to do is decide on weather or not to get the Harbor Freight tire changer
  6. Who carries the "B" model? I can't seem to find them online anywhere...This is really starting to get annoying, it's probably just a marketing gimmick anyway if the only difference is $$$. Thanks for the help.
  7. Hey Folks, Anyone running Avon 49/50 yet? If so any opinons? Also, if you go to Avons website, and use their "fitments" link (l love UK-speak) to size a tire to the XX, you get a recommendation of a 49B/50B. I checked the specs of the 49/50 vs. the 49B/50B, and everything seems to be the same. I also checked the usual tire websites, (swmototires, tiresunlimited) and I haven't been able to find any "B" designations for sale. Any thoughts on this "B" product? Is this something I should be concerned about? Thanks, Jay
