    Gas grade???

    Owner's manual calls for a minimum 87 octane.... that's all I use.
  2. Is that a problem oh great one :icon_lmao: I went 5K on my last one... :icon_doh: WTF! You have to change the oil!!? I never read anything in the owner's manual about changing oil..... :icon_shifty: That's because you've never owned a bike long enough to have to change the oil Mike hA! That's because you sell the bike before you have a chance to crack open the owner's manual. EDIT: Dammit, Mike -- beat me to it. ha ha

    Chain Oilers

Did this fall through the cracks? I want in!
  6. actually, yeah they did live on a gravel road. Lots of dust and shit. Looked like they never washed their cars either, both were a really light brown color from all the dirt. Inside of their house was pretty nice though. I will look in the service manual for how to spec these bolts. Good info.. I'll check it shortly. Went out this morning to check and there was no oil on the ground so we'll see how things turn out.
  7. Well, I wiped down all the oily parts, drained the oil, swapped the filter and filled it back up with oil. Left the panels off and put it on a dry, unmarked spot in the garage to see what shows up tomorrow morning. I'll keep ya posted.
  8. I came out to take the bike and clean it up a little but I found a spot of what looks like oil leaking from the right side and possibly the left side around the stator cover..... I snapped a few shots ... perhaps someone can tell me exactly what I'm looking at here? The bike sat for basically 2 years before I picked it up yesterday and rode it 150 miles... Bad gaskets? Normal because it has been sitting and will cure itself? Thanks.... Joel These first 3 are right side pics....looks like it's coming out around the right most gold colored bolt or at the seam behind that bolt???? These last 2 are left side pics....
  9. It's a weakness but it has very little illeffect on the bike as a result of going bad... it's just damn annoying to hear the rattling when it does go bad. Trust me when I tell you, you will KNOW when it goes bad. Until it does(if it does) just ride that bike and forget about the CCT. But like Brett said, it's cheap and very easy to replace if/when you get to that point. I'm about the least mechanical person in the world and I managed to swap mine out on my last bike(10000 miles)

    CCT

When I got my redbird early this year it developed the broken dish noise shortly thereafter. Ordered my new CCT from John, got it and pulled mine out. Sure as shit it had the double green dots on it. I was a bit nervous that with the "most up to date CCT" could that really be my problem... ah, to hell with it... I swapped it out and the problem was fixed. Was it sold that way from the dealer with the green dot CCT, I don't know but at least you know you're not alone with having the green dot and replacing it.
  11. uh! bitch! :icon_slap: :icon_noshare:
  12. I'd have to disagree with you on that.... They look great on all the colors imo. Figures, a fag riding that ugly ass color would disagree! :icon_nana:
  13. redbird is the only color I like the clears on.... :icon_clap: Does that bike have HIDs? Damn thing is BRIGHT!!!
  14. What the hell. I thought the '01 used PCII..... I passed a killer deal on a PCIII when I had my redbird for that same reason. "Fuck me runnin!"
  15. New Triump? What did I miss?????
  16. take me down another pound..... they sure do get harder to drop the closer you get to your goal.
  17. Most likely, multiple personality disorder with erectile dysfunction. Friggin newbs coming out of the woodwork.... that JohnS reply looks like advertising.... :icon_think:
  18. take me down another 4.... WHOOOO!!! only a few more to go!
  19. I'd say replace them too... yeah it's expensive but creating a potentially more corrosive situation could prove a bad move on a longer ride..... But what's more imporant than that is figuring out WHY this keeps happening to your plugs.....
  20. Actually, I thought my '97 was a lot smoother than my '01 or '02... the FI just seems very snatchy to me. But what the hell do I know, I just ride.
  21. cough cough... hold out for an FI http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=32889 :icon_shhh:
  22. Everyone all together now.... "HOW EASY IS IT?" Sooooooooo easy, that Bowen did it at RedNexxt this weekend... and only needed help for 80% of it! :icon_lmao: :icon_lmao: :icon_lmao: :icon_lmao: :icon_lmao:
  23. Taking the panels off is pretty simple... getting them back on(especially the first time requires some patience)... There are two pop tabs on the bottom of the fairing.... I think 3 inside the wheel well area then all the obvious screws on the outer part of the fairing..... comes off relatively easily but getting it back on requires eyeballing the panel into place while aligning the screws....it should come apart very easily so if it doesn't don't pull on it, look for a screw some place that you missed. Check out the service manual listed in the FAQ for explicit instructions for taking off the panels or look in your owner's manual. Service Manual here
  24. It's not immediately evident if you've not done the job. Under normal conditions, there is room between the engine case and the sprocket for one chain, not two or three. Basically, the chain packed itself into the case and cracked the metal surrounding the front sprocket. This in itself is not that big a deal, but the sprocket cover also mounts the clutch slave cylinder, so even if I'd have put it back together, I would not have had a clutch. Plus the waterpump was also cracked (directly in front of the sprocket). Such was the need for the U-Haul. This is the view from the topside, looking down from underneath the tank. Normally, in this view you cannot see the chain. It didn't violate the engine/transmission sump, but it did require either: The replacement of the engine cases. or The repair of the engine cases, which would have required the disassembly of (at least) the transmission I replaced the cases, since the repair was going to cost plenty. After it was all said and done, I should have rather parted the bike out, or bought a complete engine. I ended up buying an engine from a board member which had an internal problem. I used the cases, and swapped my internals into it. That sounds like a mess that would have made me sit on the side of the road and cry til I got struck by lightening. Thanks for the detailed info...I surely hope I don't ever have to see the inside of my bike that way.
  25. Sorry man.. forgive my ignorance here. Since I don't ever take my bike apart I'm not sure what I'm looking at there other than a busted chain. Am I reading correctly that there was more damage there than just to the chain? Something in the engine/tranny busted too?
