I am in the same boat. AND I love the patriotic colors. My 21 year old son would pay to have a kidney harvested to buy this bike. Going to be a dick here as there was a 2016 for sale last night in Seattle for $6900 with 300 miles. My son corrected me and said the 2016s have fork issues. But, as another member said , just a "little" high. You may want to consider $11,499

That bike might be the most horrifyingly ugly thing that makes me want to keep looking at it.  It's like a hot horny redhead midget with a hunch back, I don't know what to do.

Please understand that I'm not dogging your bike at all, just trying to figure out why I'm attracted to it while also thinking it looks all wrong.  I poured my piggy bank into the Coinstar yesterday so Dave's got the best chances.

Y'all aren't wrong.  As far as looks, I'd say it grows on you and the face always reminded me of the Japanese robot cartoons from the 80's and 90's.

As far as value, there are couple of bikes in my area going for about the same price, but there are also a couple listed for around $9500.  Different years and such, but from what I've been able to ascertain is the 2017 model was the golden year.  The rest of the years all have there issues.  For example, the 2018/19/20 Adventure Sports models all have a fuel tank/fuel pump issue.  The issue appears to be with the welds.  The material used to coat the tank interacts with the fuel/ethanol in North America and is acerbated with 90+ degree heat to cause the material to "flake" off at the welds and clog the filter on the fuel pump. Evidently, Honda is aware of the issue, but hasn't issued a recall.  Anyway, I have a very clean bike that's been very well taken care of and, in my opinion, tastefully accessorized.  I'm in no rush to sell and will keep him (his name is Kevin) if no one bites.

I love the looks of it and the - OEM Panniers (w/One-Key system) adds a lot to the value.  What was the retail on the panniers?

I believe it was around $700 with the one-key system.  I had to buy all the parts and put it together myself.  The dealership was charging $100/hr and the quoted time was 3 hours.  So, yeah, I spent the three hours myself assembling the system and installing it.

As a side note, I know the cases aren't that rugged, but the convenience of the system, coupled with no external rack sticking off the bike when I don't want to carry them, makes them an excellent choice for most of my riding.  I've done 2 multi-day trips of 1500 and 3000 miles with those panniers and a soft top bag and couldn't have been happier with the way they performed.

  3. I'm selling my beloved Africa Twin.  The bike has been amazing. Hands down the most comfortable bike I've ever owned.  Looking to upgrade to the newer model with the electronic suspension and all the bells and whistles of modern adventure bikes.

    Extras Included/Installed After Purchase:
    - OEM Centerstand
    - OEM Panniers (w/One-Key system)
    - Eastern Beaver PC3 Fuse Block
    - 2 Port USB Charger w/Voltmeter
    - Hardwired Battery Tender Port

Bike is in excellent condition! Upon inspection, dealer remarked that all they'd have to do for resale is wipe it down & replace a sticker, see pic where front sticker is scratched from a close encounter with a tool chest. Never touched the ground.

    Clean Title in hand

Does it become uselessly mushy from just sitting or only while riding?  If only when riding it could be a warped rotor pushing the pads back, or maybe a caliper mounting issue.  If it does it just sitting I would start by checking to make sure there's not a vacuum in the reservoir.  Remove the fill cap and diaphragm, pump up the brake, close it up, then see.

Sitting.  It loses pressure with in 5 seconds or so.

I went thru this once... that was more than enough. I never was that impressed w/the linked brakes. The JAWS delink kit solved the issue ....

I have the delinking kit from Jaws, and will go that route, if all else fails.

    Craig,

I just developed 2 leaks that I caused while redoing some lines that were run improperly from when I had a shop install the braided lines.  The system was not leaking before this, so I have to fix those first before I can get into it any further.  I have a vacuum pump now and ordered a rear MC rebuild kit that will be here next week.  Since I'll have to take the lines that are leaking off anyway, I'll pull the MC and do the rebuild, then I'll use the vacuum bleeder to  bleed the system.

Thanks for all the replies on this.  I'd like to keep the linked system, but if I can't chase down the issue, I'll just delink and call it a day.

  5. Great advice all around.  In the next week or so, I'll try each of these recommendations.

Dave, I have steel braided lines.  I can't remember the manufacturer...it's been about 6 years or so.

I know I'm hijacking this thread, but NoOne65 hasn't piped in yet.  Sorry for the hijack.

Just to clarify, this issue popped up right after the lines were switched to steel braided lines. ( And yes, I know I'm a slacker for not tackling this problem sooner.)  I would say the rear worked as intended for about 3 months, then the rear began to get mushy. I've bled the system countless times and it doesn't seem to help.

  6. I wish a simple bleeding and/or flushing would do the trick.  I've bled the lines multiple times with zero results.  I'm leaning towards a bad rear master cylinder at this point.

  7. Well, a buddy laid down my baby today. He clipped the right mirror on a wall and broke the RH Mirror Stay. The force of the hit snapped the stay and broke the upper cowl. Fortunately, he only freaked out a little bit and gently laid her down on the left hand side. The only damage was to the upper cowl and the mirror. Anybody have an upper cowl and a RH mirror stay? I'm not concerned with the color as I will have to have it repainted any way. Thanks.

  8. Sprockets are 45 tooth rear stock in good condition and 45 tooth aluminum vortex shows wear the front sprockets are 17 tooth stock and 15 tooth not sure what brand but shows no wear.

I'll take the OEM/stock sprockets and the clutch kit for $80 shipped if you are okay with that. Send me a PM with your address, and I'll send you a check.

  9. This review isn't motorcycle related, but I know there are quite a few Ford owners on this site and I hope this may save them a few bucks.

As of today, this is the second time I've used SouthWest Ford Parts Department. On both occasions, I've had spectacular service.

My first experience with them was about 2 years ago when my drivers side window motor on my Ford F-150 gave out. My local dealer wanted ~$400 to replace the assembly, or around $200 for the part. The best price I could find online for the assembly was around $150. I called Southwest Ford and spoke with Charlie and he was able to get it to me shipped for $90.00.

Today, I had the passenger side window assembly go out. I called a local dealer, and again, they wanted ~$400 to replace the assembly or $200 for the part. I did a quick internet search for the assembly and was able to find an aftermarket replacement for $92 plus shipping. A quick call to Southwest Ford Parts Department (Charlie answered the call again...2 years after the first incident :icon_eek: ) and Charlie was able to get the assembly shipped out today for a whopping $90 including shipping.

Not only am I impressed with their prices, but their customer service is the best I've seen in a long time. Charlie was able to look up my order from 2 years ago and confirm the part I needed matched the old order. He also called me back after he had the tracking number and thanked me for being a repeat customer. In this day and age of the turn style employee, it is very comforting to see someone stay with a company and take pride in what they do.
