  1. This was kinda my thinking, I find that the birds, much like any IC engine runs much smoother, and stronger when the air is a little cooler. That has a direct correlation on how I turn the happy handle. I rode it yesterday, and it was in the 50s, and that is the happiest the XX has been in a long time. OMG it was unbelievable how it was running. I fall in love with this thing all over again everytime I ride it.
  2. Hmmmm so whatcha gonna do with your clear ones? BTW the smoked looks fucking hot on the black bike. Love it man! Rick

    HID Problems

So what is the verdict on this? Did you figure it out?
  4. I messed with it yesterday, and found that indeed the tire wan't true. Which was kinda what I thought. All is well now. Except I need to ride more.
  5. Okay folks a little update. I re-arranged the rear wheel a little bit to try to make sure it was perfectly straight. No Love. It did take alot of it out, but not completly like I think it should be. Rick, I tried the string method, and the string hit the center stand, so that woulnd't let me get an accurate measurement. So What I would like to know is a couple of points I can measure on the back of the bike to assure the rear wheel is straight. I have been using a caliper and measuring from different points but not sure I trust any of them for being perfect. I thought about from the rear of the 'indicator' to the swinger. Again, not sure I trust the consistency, and accuracy. So, I need another method to assure straightness of the rear wheel. Any ideas? This is really ridiculous, I have never had this much problems adjusting a chain. How do the rest of you do it?
  6. Well, the chain only has just shy of 10K miles on it. I normally am pretty good about lubing it every 3-600, just this time has been a little longer. Probably 1Kish, give or take. I geuss when I get home, I will give it a WD40 cleaning, and a good lubing, and see if that works. After that, I will then go to the alignment. I rode it in to work this morning to try to get a better feel for it, and pay very close attention to it, and at speed it isn't that bad, but when I start getting down 20-25mph and below is when I really really feel it. So, I am not sure. But will ride it around a little today (probably a total of 6 miles) and when I get home give it a quick cleaning, and lubing.
  7. Okay so, I haven't ridden the bird in a few weeks for more than a mile or 3. I knew it needed a chain adjustment. (and lube, which I still haven't done yet  ) But anyway, So I do a real quick chain adjustment, and take off to work. I take the long way (bout 10 miles)(Normally it is 1.1 miles 8) ) It is very smooth much like I remember it, UNTIL I close the throttle and get me a load of engine braking, or downshift. This I get a strange feeling through the pegs, and a little bit of vibration in the bars. But it feels like something like the chain is hitting something or something of that nature. My first thought is that the rear wheel isn't perfectly straight. So my first question is what is the best way to check and insure that it is straight? I just don't remember ever feeling this before. So, any ideas, comments, and input is welcome. TIA Rick
  8. So hey Dale seeings how you own both bikes, what would it take to get those handguards mounted on the XX? Is it as easy a mount as the FJR?
  9. Thanks Tim, and yeah, I just realized how much an automatic sucks, and I went with the not automatic. Right before you responded.
  10. What are the Torque Specs for the rear axle? I searched and couldn't find it. By the way, if anyone has a shop manual or a 2000 XX DO not burn me a copy and pm me for my address. Or DO not email me a pdf file or link to it. Please!! Seems like I NEVER saw a link on here for one.
  11. I know, I would love electrics, it just isn't in the cards this year. And, I am not sure how well those would work under a one piece leather suit.
  12. Okay, I have ballistics, and I also have a one piece leather suit which some of you have seen. Now the leather suit is BY FAR THE MOST comfortable thing I own for being on the bike. The Ballistics are okay, but I can never seem to get settled in on the bike in them. I normally wear hot weather Under Armour, under the leathers. They are fully perfed on the front, so they are good down to about 60-65* and then it started getting a little cool for my tastes. Obviously I know they won't be good for cold weather, but if I had something to wear under them that would cut some of the wind, and give me another 10* or so, that would be great. My first thought was the cold weather under armour, but I am not sure how much wind they block. I figure when it gets down around 55* and below, I am pretty well screwed, and have to go with the ballistics. Anyone have any other ideas? Buying another nonperfed suit, or aerostitch right now, is NOT an option.
  13. Thank, bookmarks added.
  14. I think I may pick up some of those too, BUT, I really am wanting the bolts that have the multi hole design on them for the fairing. isn't it like servicehonda.com or something like that
  15. I need to order a few parts for the XX, mainly fasteners for the fairing. Where have you found to be the fastest, cheapest, most reliable? TIA Rick
  16. This probably helps keep your bike a little warmer than most don'tcha think?
  17. What are the part numbers for different manufacturers oil filters for the XX. I know fram makes one, and Purolator, and many others. Fram is fine with me. Anyone have a list of correct filters for the XX?
  18. I don't understand how the chain would cause a vibration at the same RPM in every gear. The chain is rotating at a completely different speed than the engine.
  19. I have noticed a fairly large increase in vibration when I hit 5K rpm. It happens in all gears, and happens at whatever speed, it is consistent at 5K RPM. The only thing I haven't thought to do, is rev it to 5K in neutral. I am not sure if this has always been this way or has really come about recently. It is enough to notice the change in vibration but it isn't like it is going to come apart. Is this normal, or do I need to check a few things?
  20. Auto Zone, Pep boys, O'reilly's about any auto parts store. It is a silicone sealer.
  21. OKay folks, I know some of you are running these. I want pics info part #s, anything you can. I think it is time to add one to my bird. When all is said and done, I will have the following hooked up -GPS -Heated Grips -Sat Radio (auxiliry 12v plug) -Motolights 35w -Auxiliary 12v plug So I am thinking I will add the plug, and have a much nicer, cleaner, and safer install of my farkles. What do you all think? I was kinda thinking if I can find one that I can run a power, and a ground to, then have some openings for the fuses and such. GIVE ME FEEDBACK!
  22. Surely someone has one or two of these laying around.
  23. Anyone have any extra bolts laying around? I am looking for the allen head that goes in and holds the front part of the tailsection. It is one of them that has holes kinda drilled around it. It is above the footpeg. If anyone has one or 2 laying around let me know. I need a couple. I have never had a bike lose fasters like this thing does.
  24. Simple............................Replace them with aftermarket slip-ons For real, it isn't worth the trouble.
