  2. Not an option...theres a good reason I dont have anything but a bike!! not to mention 400+ for a new radiator...anyone know if a 2001 would fit?
  3. A Friggin truck ran over a piece of metal and I couldnt avoid hitting it. It bounced off my tire and punctured the radiator. I dont have any way to get to work! Anyone have a radiator to sell or one I can borrow til I can find one? Of course I want to overnight it if possible? J
  4. I mounted mine dead center as far in as possible on top of the guage cluster. I used a small piece of velcro and its fine. I was extremely disapointed in the quality tho. mine is cheap with glue everywhere..even covering the daylight sensor. but it wasnt worth returning as long as it measure voltage.

  6. Thanks Mike! I meant I only had one key and thats the only one for the bike since I purchased it back in 03... Checked it with cap open and also with full tank and still runs like a turd I should have this moved to the for sale section!! I always had success tuning holley carbs and then rochester in my rodding days but damn I cant figure this one out. I think the next step might be to swap out the engine? lol
  7. A vacuum leak is the only thing I could figure...but the cap thing is something else...umm gonna have to get a key made!! By venting do you mean a clog in a vent tube? I do need to install vent lines because while I have been trying to figure this out I have left them off completely. as for the diaphragm, the old one was intact but I replaced it anyway. It appears that it may be leaking from the filter/O-ring. Thats all I can see from the fiche. I have some replacement intake boots I am going to try as well.
  8. New Diaphram...valve itself leaks but I have that replacement in the works but I wouldnt think that would have much of an effect. Before the current state idle and top end were great but midrange it fell flat.. J

  10. I hope someone here can help with some carb expertise. I have MIGs and K&N filter. Using factory pro jets with the following: 148 mains in the 4th clip from the top +1 on the pilot, screw totally seated at 0, and drilled slides...7/64 if I recall...or is that the stock size? Anyway it was what I read on this site. My original problem was bad surging from 4-7k. I had gone to the 5th slot from the top and 4.5 turns out and it got way better but not right. A call to factory pro suggested I need to get out of the 5th position as thats a special test slot and that I should go up one on the pilot and lean in the screw. Well I did and now the mid is gotten better but still not perfect but thats not the problem. The problem now is idle. The bike will idle from about 900 to 2k and I know thats not right. If I richen it up it gets worse as does the midrange. but if I lean it out by going to leaned pilot with richer mixture then its as bad in the other direction! I hope this is making sense to you all. Think maybe theres a vacumm leak or a leaking float needle? or some internal gasket leak? By the way carbs are synched J

  12. Doesnt seem Hank is around at the moment. Anyone else have a valve? It is for a 97 carbed bird. Its leaking more now and I am afraid it might catch fire!

  14. Anyone have a fuel valve laying about? Turns out my leak wasnt from the diaphram but from the casing/valve itself and it doesnt look like it can be torn down.

  19. Do these have tabs by any chance? Sharkskins dont have em (yeah I know they are race skins). I tried to fiberglass my own tabs but they keep breaking off J
  20. My fuel petcock is leaking at the bottum nub that a lot of people mistakenly put there vacuum hose. Parts fiche shows it as one assembly. I assume theres a gasket behind the cover attached with the four phillips screws? J
  21. Well I took the plunge and picked up the KBC Retro helmet and love the fir so I am selling my XL Nolan N102 modular helmet. I am asking 200.00. Its in great condition with only a couple of nicks. Included is the clear shield, tinted shield, and first generation (Outside) Nolan VPS visor. Also I have a Teknic Lightning red\white\black jacket. I wear a size 46 or 48 depending on the jacket maker. This is a 52 and fits tight over gerbing heated jacket or the liner. Without either its a little loose but not so much to make it flap in the wind. It shows heavy usage but maybe some leather dye or shoe polish might brighten it up. I am asking 50.00 for it

Huh, I was told by quite a few folks just to tape the black R/R wire up so it DOESN'T ground to the frame... :icon_think: Yes, I've heard that when putting a FI bike's R/R into a carbed Bird, you need to tie that black wire into the taillight circuit or something (and only at a specific spot?), but for my situtation; not anything beyond "leave it hang and ignore it" re: what to do w/ the black wire on an FI bike when going to the R1 R/R... well I "think" thats correct but I sure could be wrong! As for using it on my 97 i tried grounding the wire first then put volts on it and finally taped it off resulting in way more voltage that it was suppose to put out. something above 17v in all cases. I am gonna try and find where I got my info from and get back to you J

Hey man if you put R1 reg on FI 'bird then I think your suppose to ground out the left over black wire (I think thats what color it is) I tried to put a 99 in my 97 and the 99 needs that extra wire. never did figure out way it wouldnt work. I am on my 3rd unit. 1 failed and my stator took out the other two before I figured out the issue oh and if you are electrically challenged just get a 12v test light makes it a little easier IMO
