  2. Before I get a new one, anyone have a fairing stay? I can get cheep one on ebay for 40 buck or a new one for 100 but I wanted to check here first. On a related note anyone ever successfully got a broken mirror bolt out? This is my 2nd XX and the second time Ive broken ez outs trying to remove it!

  3. Over the years I've acquired 3 right mirrors and no left ones...guess which one shattered? Anyone ever removed the glass from its housing? If so how? I was thinking if I can successfully get the glass out of one of the right ones I can just glue it in the left side

Not those...the two small screws on the top of the reservoir. Mine has been an indoor bike for about 1.5 years now

My bike must be special, it has windows to check the fluid through. :)

haven't been able to see through those "windows" since I got the bike 6 years ago, so yours is definitely special! :)

There are different grades of stainless and their corrosion resistance varies, but it seems very odd for them to be totally rusted.  I still have the factory steel ones and they're in decent shape.  Maybe there is something going on with the fluid attacking them, but I dunno why it would.  If corrosion were happening I'd expect the stainless to be fine and the aluminum to go to shit.

Is other stuff on your bike rusting like the screws are?

not the stainless bolts and other stuff...

  7. I think your gonna have a crap shoot...The ones on the bike in my signature were great but after about 3 years they became brittle and had to be replaced. Same with the following set. Both of them fit great with minimal adjustments needed (slightly opening holes for instance). My last two sets were SHIT!...I had to oblong almost all the holes and stretch and pull to get them mounted.  Good luck

  8. Anyone ever find screws that WONT rust? I have bought several over the years that were suppose to be stainless but after a few years they are totally rusted...Could they be real stainless but the brake fluid corrodes them and thats what I am seeing and not actually rust?

Completely incompatible, but they'll fit my '97.  Shipping is on you for the convenience of having someone else make use your junk.

I can't answer your question, but partsman is likely to be correct.

Since he don't want help and I'm sitting here ready to cry over my carbs. Have any of you ever had an issue not being able to get the carb off. I ve been trying for forever now. I lossened both the carb side and head side clamps with no luck I've damn near lifted the bike off the ground and shit my brains out at the same time. I've tried beating my head against for shits and giggles and I've even prayed for the bike and bowed down to see if it would let me worthy. My next option is going to be strapping c4 to it. But I'm pretty sure once the smoke clears everything will be fucked but the carb will still sitting there attached to the head please help this is kicking my ass and I had it off 6 months ago

hmm now that I think of it I wished I had C4 at the time I first took mine off...sorry no easy solution...I replied to your other post

I'm having the same exact problem as we speak. I had the carb of about 6 months ago and it came off easily. I had an aftermarket full exhaust that I installed at the same time I rebuilt and jetted the carbs. But now I can figure out what to do I have lossened the clamps on both sides but I am running out of ideas. If you figured it out please share cause I love my bird but right now I wana throw this bitch in to a lake and say fuck it. I've gone over my service manual 20 times to make sure I didn't over look anything or for something stupid.

Mine were hard as rock even in the height of summer...it was extremely hard to get them off...ultimately I bought some off of ebay that were not as hard and cut the old ones off

  13. I Found the software on a German Micron exhaust site now I just need MAPs

PS I am not worried about the port as I do have a laptop with serial port on it

  14. I just put a dual fan setup on my radiator with the main fan connected to the bird original fan source. now I am putting an adjustable fan relay on the second fan. I am searching for mounting advice. Due to the adjustability and the limited length of the temp probe it has to be somewhere under the front of the bike. I am thinking some sort of plate mounted on top of the horn but cant think of any other ways...looking for some input. I've attached some pics for reference
