  2. I see that Lockhart Phillips & Targa each sell half-bras. Can anyone tell me which one will cover more (ie. which will get closest to covering the decals)? Anyone got pictures of each mounted? I did a search here and found some pictures of mounted tank bras, but don't know which ones they were. I'd prefer the carbon fiber pattern (LP only I think), but covering the dents is the biggest priority.

Here's a couple of pictures of a LP bra on a 99. Should give you an idea of what it will cover.

  3. I went this route 30K ago and have had no issues.

Of course mine is blue...To match the bike!

Another idea, maybe the CCT is supposed to unscrew a little bit?

At Yanmar, we had a cam chain tensioner that was spring loaded. Under large RPM changes, the tensioner actually moved quite a bit to allow for lash. Just a thought?

Of course, there's always this option.

    Linky poo to article.

  4. If you decide to go ahead with this, put up an offer to switch gauges with someone else. I'm sure there is a member with analog gauges more than willing to swap out.

I could be that member! :icon_pray:

Your speedo would read to 320 too! :icon_evilgrin:

  5. It has either been painted or is a Canadian Bike/Canadian Bodywork on it.

It would be rare to see one in the U.S., but not up here in the North. Maybe ours are just Blue because they're so cold? :icon_lol:

  6. ok semi-related question:

is it necessary to remove the lower cowling to change the filter? i'm lazy. :icon_razz:

Nope! I just did mine without removing any of the plastics. :icon_cool:

  7. Have you guys checked out the Veypor device?  I think it has a shift light.  It also has a bunch of other very cool tricks.

It has a gear indicator, a quarter mile timer, it can calculate horsepower and torque, indicate true speed and probably scratch your ass.   I'm thinking about getting one.  Does anyone know anything about them?

    Check it out at http://www.veypor.com.

I'll look into this and post what I find out. The company is right here in Ottawa. I'm suprised I hav'nt seen one yet on anyones bike around here.

    Stay tuned.

According to the address on the website, this guy must be selling them out of his home. It's only about 10 minutes from my place, so in the next week or so I'll try to get in touch with him.
