  1. Porcelain part on top, with a small threaded end for snapping the plug wire on. The bottom is metal, and threaded. There's a hex just above the threads to be used when installing the plug in the head. Does that help? ROTFLMFAO.... :lmao: Now that is some funny shit right there.... I didn't get the chance to pull them this weekend. my new plugs will be here tomorrow, and i will tear into her at that point and keep everyone abreast on the situation. yyyyyyyuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmm....breast.......
  2. That would be my first thought on it...
  3. I think that is what I am going to do. I am going to pull the plugs and check them all, but I hope to find all in working order. I figure if something is awry in one of the cylinders, the plugs will help tell the story. No. Could one of the o-rings been damaged by high rpm or high speed? I will give a quick check to those, too. It is a sick looking bike. It was the first picture i could find of the back of the bike to kind of visually explain what was going on. Thank you, 2wheeldeal, for the use of the picture. And thank you to all who posted. I know I shouldn't worry because it's a honda. It was just a little concerning when it happened.
  4. Ran great. I was running pretty hard at the higher elevations (9500+ ft at 140+) and i thought that might be what attributed to this. I just want to make sure there isn't anything wrong with it.
  5. no, it's more in the exhaust, not on the outside. it's almost like it's burning oil enternally on one of cylinders, but because of the 4:2:1:2, shouldn't both pipes show same build up? I borrowed this picture from the gallery. It was the first motorcycle i could find with dual exhaust. On the left side, the exhaust tip on the inside is very dark and has strong oil odor. Right side is normal...i hope this clarifies. Again, thank you for any advice. Maybe i should just ride until the thing blows up...
  6. It was in the exhaust...I don't think chain lube would get that far in it, but hey, I have been wrong before...
  7. K&N, Scorpion slip-ons, otherwise stock mechanically... Oooops....2001....
  8. No, not talking about Nexxt or what comes out of my ass after a night of drinking micro brews... Yesterday I did a 635 mile jaunt. Lots of twisties, a few 5+ straights, but nothing out of the ordinary. Elevations up to 11000 ft. When I get home, I walked around the back of the bike, and I kind of smelled oil... Right pipe exhaust tip was normal dry carbon look, light brown, nothing out of the ordinary. Smelled like a hot exhaust. Left pipe, dark black and REEKED of oil. I let it cool down, wiped it off with a towel. I also stuck my finger in the exhaust, didn't feel oily, so I am a wee bit concerned and slightly confused. My baby has 14k on her, oil changed every 3k, castrol actevo, no noticeable drop in oil level. K&N, Scorpion slip-ons, otherwise stock mechanically. I would assume that both sides of the exhaust should look the same? :?: Would the run of 5+ for over a minute straight have anything to do with this? Elevation? Or am I looking at something more serious like (gasp) rings, valves, or a seal? I really don't want to take it to a stealer and have them look at it. Labor rates are insanely fucking high. Thank you in advance. All advice taken seriously. Paul
  9. I put mine on the centerstand, get the WD-40, put the little red tube in the can, and go to town. Put a drain pan under her to catch the drips and spray away from the back tire...works good enough for me...
  10. Holy ass-raping batman... h7 bulbs can be had for under $10 a piece. as stated, silverstars are still cheaper than Fay Myers. you could go all out and get HID for $160. I can't believe they would want that much. Try performance cycle or tfog racing.... TFog Racing is a small shop in Golden. EXCELLENT service and reasonable price... guarantee they could beat that $20 for a light bulb.... ok, back to your regular scheduled programming.
  11. Try wiggling your starter button. It interrupts the flow from the light when you start it so more juice is available for the starter. http://www.cbr1100xxforums.org/forum/viewt...=starter+button it's happened to a few on here, sounds like the problem you are having.
  12. No rush. I have just been keeping an eye on this one...
  13. J-- Any new developments on this yet? :submissive:
  14. I, too, used wd40 to remove the old grips. very slick little trick. clean very well before putting on the new grips. hairspray works very well. never had any problem with it at all. should take about 5 minutes per side, but ymmv.
  15. I had the competitionwerks kit on my TLS. it wasn't the easiest install, but if you eyeball it, mark it with a pencil or white crayon on the undertray bottom, it should be pretty easy. My undertail was MUCH more difficult to put in...it wasn't cut exactly like it should have been, so i had to do a lot of dremel grinding to get it to fit properly. IMHO, YMMV.
  16. That is pretty slick.... can't wait for the pictures!
  17. Me too. I was just reading that thread the other day and was wondering if it just died out or there wasn't any interest... Just let me know the details! Thanks Jay!
  18. John, Is this the x11 cct? Thanks
  19. Tom--here is one solution from the folks at superbrightleds.com.... http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/sto...cgi?product=CAR scroll toward the bottom....6 ohm, 50 watt resistor with splicers...gold in color... I am pretty sure you could get the same thing from Radio Shack or some place like that. Two will cost approx $10 + s/h... And, fwiw, they do create heat, so keep that in mind when installing.
  20. I am glad you made it through ok. I hit a bolt in the highway, ripped a huge hole in the tire, but nothing that fierce. I had to do the crippled ride the shoulder at 2mph as well... It's most definitely time to play the lottery....
  21. G4XX

    Sprockets

    Where did you find them?
  22. well, welcome aboard. gotta love the bike! check the mid-pipe on the left side. if there isn't a small square bracket welded to it for the centerstand to rest against with a small rubber bumper, the previous owner probably removed the centerstand so it wouldn't rub on the chain(problem I had with my Scorpions). The second issue may have been for weight savings. it's not really heavy, but less weight = faster acceleration. Glad to have you, and enjoy!
  23. Oops.....  edited link above to fix..... thanks redbird.....
  24. would this work on the XX? linky anyone have this on their bike? *edited* because i am a dumbass.........
  25. would that be this by chance??? :?: http://cbr.geckobox.net/forum/viewtopic.ph...light=automatic
