  1. I have the old switch assembly off of my 97 if you want it.  The locator pin in the bottom (I think that is where it is) broke so I replaced the switch.  The top half should be ok if you want it.  Let me know.

Thanks for the offer. I'm pretty sure it's not the switch. If I leave the high beam on with the low beam and turn the ignition on, they will both cut out as expected during startup, but then the high beam is the only one that turns back on. I think it's a faulty ballast.

Also keep in mind that the ballasts have protection circuits on them to prevent damage to the bulb. If for some reason it thinks that it might damage the bulb it wont light back up. So if you turn your key on the bulb gets to full warm and then hit start it and it flickers on and off for even a split second the ballast will cut power to the bulb.

Let the bike sit for a while, then hold the starter button in and start the bike. See if it comes on then.

  2. This is a strange one. My 97 has developed an intermittent knock. No, it's not the clucth, and I don't think it's the CCT. It's most noticable at idle. I've tried to get a few ppl to listen to it but everytime I do, it's gone. I've finally figured out that it's most prominent after a hard ride. It's never there just after firing it up.

I first noticed it on the way back from Mikey's place in Hamilton a few weeks ago. We had changed the oil there and put in Castrol M/C 10-40 I think. This is the first time for this oil. Is it possible that the engine just doesn't like it? What else could it be?

My 98 does the same thing. When its cool its quiet as can be, but if it gets decently hot you can barely hear this "thud thud thud" in the bottom of the engine. Sounds loudest on the right hand side ( if you're on the bike ) towards the bottom of the faring. As soon as the bike cools off it goes away. I've chalked it up as normal since it has been doing it for well over a year now.

Its not loud, and can only really be noticed if you are specifically listening for it. You can also "kinda" feel it in the footpegs I noticed. But for what its worth, I do believe it has since gone away or been severely decreased as a result of switching to a 50/50 synthetic blend.

  3. I just switched from Dunlop D208's to Pilot Roads - I have 200 miles on them and totally respect them! I can honestly say that they stick! I've hustled through many of my favorite corners at same or better speeds than my 208's and feel every bit, or even more confident than on the Dunlops..

This is almost exactly what I was going to post, except I just switched the old 220's off the bird instead of the 208s.

  4. Bohmen and McCullogh are the same company. Bohem Lighting products owns McCullogh now. Tensorlight is a restamped McCullogh product under the new Bohem product line.

So yes, they're all the same thing.

  5. When we launch the new webpage after going back to the cbr1100xx.org domain the forum will see some asthetic upgrades. We can't really use the "plug and play" themes that are out there due to alot of the custom work I've done.

Well, we could - but it would require a good deal of energy to modify everything. Just wait.. I promise :D

  6. I really liked 2equis tail, its very clean looking and not far from stock. I personally don't like to change things too radically from stock, so I'm not a Moto undertail fan. But the LED brake light and turn signals on 2equis looked fantastic. Very clean and professional looking - looked stock!

Perhaps he could upload a pic?

  7. .. I would assume that changing the subframe would mean that none of the plastics are going to fit, so why you would want to do that I am not sure. If you're looking for a new tail kit, those don't require changing the subframe.
