  1. I wont sell the stock cans off the bike. At my local bike night a Honda Inc. rep says the stock cans help the bike go 190 mph because the extra six holes create a vortex stream inside the muffler. That is why I dont put aftermarket cans on the bike.

    SERIOUS BUYERS ONLYYYY!

But I thought a pipe, power commander and a jet kit would make it faster?

Anyhow I'll give you $4,000 for it just because it is a very low mileage XX. I'd go $5,000 if it didn't need paint.

$4200 if he peels the decals off and puts a tank bra on - final offer!!!!

    :icon_whistle:

  2. For sale is my ultra-CUSTOM 2000 blackbird. My new house forces me to sell it. Asking $9000 this includes a custom badass paint job over $3000 MY loss YOUR gain. I will not sell the custom paint sperate don't even ask. 11500 miles but I ride alot so it might go up alittle by the time I sell it. Thats more than most people ride their whole lifes. Its called THE PUNISHER and you can see why. It punises other bikes expecially the busa!!!! Know this bike is a busa killer. At bike night the MOB do not even look at the busas when I brings this bike. RIght now it will go 190mph put on a pipe, power commander and jet kit it will do 200 mph easy.

    Piece Out

90% super maxxis road compound. ultra low resistance

you should really be ak-sking mo' dough fo' dis bike, see??? It's full-on whack!!!

You sound like a safe dude - does it come wit' lotsa gear (helmet, jacket, armored pants.... Oakleys, muscle shirt n' shit)????

    "Piece" out!!

    :icon_rolleyes:

  3. I'm curious how the more ex$pen$sive PR 2 will stack up to some of the other "standard" XX tires (Road, Z6, Strada) and also the new Bridgestone BT-021, from a grip and mileage to $$ standpoint...

In my case, I loved the Z6 for grip/mileage, and am loving the even cheaper BT-021 right now. Z6 would get me ~6K miles, 021 looks like it'll last roughly the same..

For me, the PR 2 will have to grip very well AND last like 7500 miles on the XX to justify the cost...

  4. Yip, the bike looked to have been laid down by an incompetent rider, I forgot to post the blog - all the details on condition are here:

    blackbird1100xxforsale.blogspot.com

Anyway, the bike looks to be in perfect mechanical shape, (I've seen it w/ fairings off, any damage from the lay-over was limited to the fairing/engine covers only).

I've known the seller for quite a long time and the bike is just as represented. Hell, I was even with him when he bought the bike!

  5. $3. It will allow super-fast-spacial-awareness. Wow, wonder if that's in wiki.

    mirrors.jpg

+1 - Got so used to 'em that I HATE riding/driving vehicles without convex mirrors. Blows my mind that people complain about blind spots on their cars bikes and don't spend the $3 to correct it (and EVERY vehicle has a blind spot!)...

Makes combat commuting simple - no craning your neck to see, just glance down with your eyes and blast ahead if the coast is clear!

  6. After having been run over while sitting at a stoplight, I'd like some suggestions on gear to increase visibility. Mainly I'm thinking Headlight modulator and LED taillights with various patterns. What am I missing? I'd just like retarded cagers on their cellphones to see me before they feel the bike under their wheels.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Byron

I run a Kisan headlight modulator - this and heated grips will go on EVERY bike I own in the future! Not only makes you noticeable in town/at intersections, but also really clears the left lane of an interstate out for ya when you roll up on grandma with the lights a-flashing! :icon_biggrin:

Works good on old farts clogging twisty 2-lanes as well - they're more than happy to pull over!!

  7. :icon_rolleyes:

Use a decent wheel chock (around $20), some 2" rachet straps (around $15), and run the strap around the front fender mount/fork on either side and draw that sucker in tight.

It will NOT budge one bit, and no worries about scratched fairings, over-compressed forks, having the "S"-hooks on the ends of the straps bounce out of the attachment point on large bumps, etc.

    Just good, solid, and no-nonsense.

  8. I've put about 1500 miles on the rear BT-021 so far, about 500 of which were in the extreme twisties of the western NC mountains.

As far as grip - I like!!! You can really tell that the softer sides have some serious bite, and can even see/feel on the tire where it transitions to the harder middle portion. Perfect for my needs.

FWIW, I am running the BT-021 rear with a new Metz M1 front, just because I can consistently get ~10K from M1's on the Bird, and have had nothing but praise for their grip.

So, if the BT-021 (@$123) last as long or longer than the rear Z6 that I usually run (@$150), I'm a Bridgestone fan!!

  9. At 46K+ miles, it's time to replace my original rear shock. Due to a small budget (and the fact that I only weigh ~170) I'll be happy with a low mile stocker (maybe throw a Hyperpro spring at it in the future). :icon_think:

Let me know what you have and what the shipped price would be (zip = 28227)

Also, depending on price I'm possibly interested in a decent used re-sprung CBR900RR rear shock, mainly for the EZ pre-load adjustability (Often switch from solo to heavy touring mode and back).

    Let me know!

  10. place something solid behind the link, hold a flat screwdriver centered on the rivet, and whack the screwdriver w/ a hammer to make a crease in the rivet. Turn the screwdriver 90 degrees and repeat, to form a cross-shaped indentation on the rivet.

Oh yeah, :icon_whistle: the secret is not to make the crease too deep or too shallow! (i.e. making the link too tight or too loose)

  11. I'm using a plug I got on eBay, it has a magnetic tip on the end which is supposed to catch any metal shavings that float by. It also has a rubber coating on the inside of the washer. It is supposed to be reusable. I've only had it on for a few hundred miles. So I haven't seen yet if the magnet is picking up anything. But I figure it can't hurt. Next oil change I'll post a picture of it before I clean it off.

    It hasn't leaked yet.

Isn't that's what the oil filter is for?

    and gravity... :icon_whistle:

  12. Latest news:

Bridgestone agrees with complaining customers that the BT021 will not last long on heavier bikes. They are now refunding part of the selling-price to the customers. We have reports that the front will last about 50% less compaired to the old BT020 when riding agressively on heavy bikes like the Pan Europe (ST1100 & 1300), ZZR1400, FJR1300, Blackbird and others....

Most users like the tire, but are not pleased with the longitivety. Lighter bikes have no problems to speak of.....

Well, hopefully it's just a case of European vs. US roads - I know several Duc ST3 riders that ride pretty aggressively that got 7K+ miles from the BT-021... All I can do is try 'em and see, and don't mind doing so for the price.

FWIW, the PR2's in the states are ridiculous - over $50USD more than the BT-021 ($170USD vs $120USD)

  13. Well, I finally just said "screw it" and ordered a rear BT-021 and another Metz M1 for the front hoop..

    On paper, the benefits are:

    - Rear BT021's are significantly less expensive than a Z6 - and MUCH less than a PR2!

    - supposedly more rear tire milage (versus the Z6 I used before)

    - supposedly, with a sticky tire up front, will have the same grip as the M1/Z6 combo.

We'll see what the real world says about those last 2 points... :icon_think:

    :icon_cool:

  14. Aah, I see. Yes the BT021 are very cheap, like 65% of the price for Michelin so it is a factor to consider. I believe your idea of concept is sound, to achieve both grip and economy. I'm not really updated on Bridgestones tyre program but you could look for information about the BT002 front tyre that have minimum thread and is much more track oriented. I wouldn't fear mixing brands though, like using ultra grippy Metzeler Racetech front and BT021 rear. If one can have the front planted under any situation and just get a little rear slide at occasions one will still do fine compared to loose the front.

:icon_biggrin: Yip - myself and many others in the States run the M1/Z6 for just the reasons you mentioned. Maybe I'll try the rear BT-021 rear and M1 front for now while I research a comparable Bridgestone front - might even love it!

As far as finding the right "softer" Bridgestone front, something similar to a Pilot Power or Metz M1 would be preferable to something truly track-oriented.. Just need a "Sport" front Bridgestone, between "Track" and "Sport-touring".

Thanks for your responses - very helpful!!

  15. I have got the impression that Z6's are slightly grippier than BT021 even though none of them have failed to me. I've got minor slides both on Z6 and BT021. Z6's rubber compound is reported to be almost as soft as the better sport tyres. BT021 handles better in turns to me but I can't say they grip better than Z6.

Oops, should have made it clear - I'm looking at the BT021 for the rear only - I wonder how your impression would be if you ran a softer tire up front and the BT021 in the rear..

For instance, I currently run the Metz M1 front/Z6 rear combo... Never, ever slips (my chicken strips are about 1/16" wide)... I'm guessing that a BT-021 with a softer Bridgestone up front would bring the overall combo's grip close to or surpassing the Z6/M1 combo, with better rear tire mileage? And for a helluva lot cheaper as well...

With that out there, what is the next softest Bridgestone compared to a BT021 (i.e., something comparable to a Metz M-1)?

  16. Any feedback on how long the BT021 lasts on a Bird compared to the Z6?? thx! :icon_biggrin:

I have used them used them for about 6000 km's now and both the rear and front appears to be about half-worn. They will do a full 7 month season for my daily commuting including two track days.

According to a recent test in the Swedish Bike magazine the BT021 front will last almost 50% longer than the Z6 and the BT021 rear will go 70% of the distance vs. Z6 rear.

FWIW; How do the 021's feel/grip in the real tight turns (feelers and fairing scraping)??

A lot of my weekend riding is in the mountains of western North Carolina - been more than happy with the grip the Z6 provides there.. So, if the 021 will grip as well as the Z6 in ultra-tight twistie conditions, I may be sold!

    thx!

  17. Any feedback on how long the BT021 lasts on a Bird compared to the Z6?? thx! :icon_biggrin:

Hmmm - I get about 6-6.5K miles (~10K Km) currently out of my Z6 rear... So if these last ~12K Km and grip as well as/better than a Z-6, might be another contender - along with the Pilot Road 2..

Too many damn good choices that came out this year, LOL! :icon_wall:

    :icon_angel:

  18. I've been running on a new set of BT021 today. As always with new tyres, the bike feels real fine but I can definitely say they are more turn willing than the Metzeler Z6 that I have used before even when they where new. The grip is good, no problems to go airborne front and the rear has dual compound so it should hold the bike well during leans. The front tyre is not dual compound that I'm aware of, but it has softer rubber. I was able to do full leans directly, without pushing the bike of course with the new tyres. The same lean angle on the heavily worn Z6 front and an odd worn Michelin Power 2CT, 190 wide..., was directly scaring and to be avoided. I've got a new bike now with the BT021 :icon_biggrin:
