  1. I think it probably has to do with the bags and will remove them and try again as soon as weather permits. Don't think it's wheel/head bearings as everything was fine when I put her away last fall. It wasn't just a little wobble...the longer I kept from touching the bars the worse the oscillations got...into the very uncomfortable zone. At 70 plus this didn't occur... Thanks for all the input. J
  2. Finally got the 'Bird out for short ride today and discovered that anytime I let go of the bars at any speed between 40 and 60 she started to oscillate like a metronome. Just the lightest touch on the bars stopped the head shake but if I let it go it would have become a full on tank slapper. I'venever experienced anything like this before on this bike. Only changes are the addition of VFR bars and Givi bags,(bags empty.) Any thoughts? Thanks, Jon
  3. I'm getting ready to finish the inside of my shop and was planning to just insulate and sheetrock...then I remembered that I had a stack of metal roofing material left over from another project and thought it might look kinda cool/industrial to finish out the shop in a metal/metal or metal/sheetrock fashion. Just curious how the metal siding might effect accoustics. I like my music and generally loud and am curious from those in the know how the metal "in" siding might effect my music... TIA J
  4. You'd have to call me daddy  J
  5. If I really believed Honda was going to give us a new 'Bird next year I would save it...but I quit believing in such things as this and Santa, and the Easter Bunny... J
  6. Look at me "savin' money already" The rear shock is already shimmed. Thanks for the input! J
  7. You know I have. Would pretty much wipe out the budget though...and then some. J
  8. I'm pretty sure I have my 954 sold and I'm thinking about spending up to maybe three large on my '01 'Bird. I may have a line on a Wilbers shock/spring set-up or I can get Penske goods at dealer cost...so other than deciding which way to go...I still may spend another 2 large after suspension. The bike is 100% stock right now with the exception of VFR bars, thanks Wario, and Givi bags, thanks Juxxtin. I need to figure new tires into the budget. Looking at "bang for the buck" for sport orientated touring/canyon carving. Your thoughts? Thanks. J
  9. Nik, Here's a motion detector you can add to your current light fixture. http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.j...oductId=1820154 This one has a wire that hooks the receiver and transmitter together. The model 6024 (search) is wireless between the receiver/transmitter but is dependent on a 9V battery to power transmitter. J
  10. One key opens and removes the case...I "think" monokey is referring to a single case...ie; your top case whereas monolock is my last name misspelled...and it refers to multiple cases using the same key to both lock and remove. J
  11. Monolock is my last name mispelled???? Sore dude trying to help... J
  12. Pour the acid in...let it set an hour or so then refill to full marks...then charge...less than two amps would be nice...wire in a couple of lightbulbs between the charger and battery if need be... J
  13. Well since Honda failed to come through with a lighter, more advanced, and faster 'Bird...I'ma gonna spend the money I was saving to give to Mother Honda with someone else! I'm wishing now I got in on the Wilbur buy...but no looking back only forward. I need some suggestions on upgrading the boingy thingys on my '01. I'm asking for input from a cost vs performance standpoint. I'm also looking for more performance out of the brakes...rotors and pads? Just pads? SS lines are already planned...suggestiosn? I'd like to save some coin for a few upcoming performance upgrades but I want the suspension set up correctly the first time. TIA Jon
  14. FWIW... Last weekend I was in the middle of BFWashington with a buddy who's alternator took a hike...new battery no charge and no start. We borrowed a pair of jumper cables from the local diner/gas station and a friendly couple from Montana let us use their 3/4T Chevy as a charging station... We had some 45 miles to go to meet up with the rest of the group and the crash truck...while I wouldn't charge the 'Bird off a running cage(by choice) ..we let his ZedX10 charge for close to thirty minutes then made a high speed dash for the crash truck... We made it and I have my second best ever canyon straffing memory as a reminder. J
  15. hm.. wouldn't that essentially 'clean it'? What is the base color of a 98 header's metal? maybe after i get it out' date=' i should just soak the whole thing in WD 40 to make it look pretty.. thanks.[/quote'] Be a DICK...that ought to help
