  1. Will, I'm sure you've alread done the adjustment in two hours now....

    2 Hours??? :icon_wtf:

    20 mins max :icon_cool:

Loosen the axel, in small increments turn each side adjuster til the desired slack is reached, I measure from the center of the axel to the back edge of the swingarm to make sure its equal length, torque axel back to 60ft.lbs.Get friend or relative to sit on the bike while you check for proper slack under load. If all is good go ride.

    Never failed me yet. :icon_wink:

My bad. I just skimmed through the posts :icon_redface: . I thought it was you that was having the problem. The 2 hours thing was from when the post was made 'till when I replied. Anyways, nothing to see here... move along.

Disolut, Lot's of good info here if you can skim through my bullshit :icon_biggrin: .

Y'all are rock stars! This is great info. Very clear. Today the chain, tomorrow the world.

    N.

    Another Hero born!

  2. Well get moving on it. :icon_lol:

Oh and better stock up on Bandaids :icon_razz:

Already changed the oil and filter there Will :icon_wink: . Got myself one of those Honda filter remover's now, So no more of this anymore...

Sounds easier to buy a new bike. :icon_biggrin:

I've tried buying a new bike. They just don't make one that fits me like the XX. Maybe the ZX-14, but that's still an unknown for now.

Jeeze, Steve, sounds like you've been in on every group buy I've been in on and have similarly gotten it all jammed up against the same deadline.

Today, my Traxxion front suspension arrived and I got a few free hours. So, now the forks are on, the Carozzerria wheels are on, the Superbrace is on (bastards don't tell you that the right rear won't fit between the lower right fork and the delay valve for the LBS unless you do a little grinding on the back of the brace). This, on top of already having had to sand the spacer in the hub for the rear Carozzerria down with emery cloth maybe 1/16" to get it to fit. For that kind of money, you'd think the manufacturers would get even the details right. Thank God I've got a lot of tools and a compressor.

Micron header goes on next, but I expect an issue with the length of the lower radiator mount and the need to improvise there. Radiator grill goes on after that -- hoping no issues. Not sure I'll even attempt the HID or the Speedo Healer or the frame sliders or the right hand light pod (wrong one -- too short), or the Power Commander before the meet. At some point, Murphy raises his head and tells you that you've pushed your luck far enough and that the next mod is going to require some serious bojacking you don't have time for. I wanna ride the bird to a Blackbird meet, and lord knows that if I get too ambitious, Murphy is going to have me riding the FJR.

Yep, group buys and more... I forgot to mention what else is on order, flash to pass (hope that works with HID, whatever), hugger, fairing bolt kit, sliders, and few other things :icon_think: . UPS guy told me he thinks he's blowing out his clutch getting up the hill to delivery my packages, about busted out in tears on that comment :icon_twisted:.

  3. Here's the best depiction I can find of that situation.

Not to but in... but do you know where that top hose (looks like vacuum) going over the top of the tranny in you're pic? Mine just lays around there, connected to nothing. Just didn't look right to me??? :icon_eh:

PM me if you know... I think I'm hi-jacking again, but inquiring minds need to know...

  4. I'm sure you've alread done the adjustment in two hours now, but here's how I've done it quite a few times...

First, the axcel should be going in from left to right.

Use you're socket's to get it loose first, then kick it up on the centerstand. Loosen/tighten the two adjuster nuts on either side of the swingarm to get to the ~1" slack (keeping the markers on each side equal) when you put you're big ass down the bird. Of course, re-tighten the axel a bit before testing for proper slack. Exact torque is not neccessary at this point IMO. Once you've got the right slack, torque it to the right spec's (I just do it by hand, my bad...wheel should move freely)

Lastly, make sure to ride it around the block to make sure you don't hear a grrrr'ing noise (too tight) or a banging noise (too loose, hitting the centerstand).

Good luck with that :icon_biggrin::icon_wink: .

  5. So I am a little behind in my prep for the TBME. Parts still left to install...

Chain, sprockets, K&N, HID, Euro light switch, winscreen, Traxxion & Penske suspension, Clear Alternatives fronts, radar detector, and perhaps a new set or rubber.... Oh damn, where's the tylenol!

  6. Down another 2.5lbs. I had to go buy new work clothes. My pants were falling off and shirts look like circus tents on me :icon_dance: .

I was down 3.5, but gained a pound back over the long weekend. Damn barbeque!

Oh well, very happy with my progress.

    Is the 30-Days up? :icon_eh:

  7. I would definately say no on the FI model do to their anti-knock sensors. My '97 did ping on 87 octane gas when the weather was hot. Some other member say they didn't have a problem though (shrug)...

  8. I've been in email correspondence with the tech support sales manager at Dynojet/Powercommander.com. After some checking, he said that the Power Commander III USB model #113-411 will work on '01-'06 Blackbirds. Anybody here know that to be accurate? I read many threads here that only the PCII will work on the '98-'01's.

    113-411

    Thanks in advace,

    Obby

i use the 113-410 on my o2xx. works fine. plugged right in and can do adjustments while it is running with my laptop. i have an issue though with going rich and staying rich untill i turn the bike off and on once, but only after i have run boost for a few seconds.

Thanks, but the 01 is apparently a different setup than the 02. Still trying to find a PCIIIUSB for the '01.

  9. I just purchased one plus a DID chain from White Buffalo Racing.

Geez, I was all over that website. I didn't see model that model # sproket listed.

    Try going to this page:

    AFAM Sprockets

Then, click on Honda and at the bottom of the Honda tables is a row for the CBR1100XX.

On the right side of that row is the entry for the front sprocket. Click on it and you'll be

taken to a page on which you can place your order after filling in the number of teeth you

    want.

    HTH

THanks guys. I finally got the order in. 18T and a DIDZVMG chain.

  10. Looks like a nice install. I've heard other people sticking the ballast on the back of the digi dash like that. I'm just worried that they would get to hot and fry the dash. I don't recall anyone having issue though.

If anyone has issues with that, speak up!

  11. I just installed 2 Philips VisionPlus H7 55w on my 97 XX. Here are some pictures:

    http://www.pbase.com/motorcyclist/lightnings

I salute those who could replace the bulbs without removing the upper fairing :-)

Even though I removed the 2 upper fairings, it was a pain to reinstall those clips!

Yeah, I had those on my XX before upgrading to HID. They are great bulbs. Very noticable, but not near the HID. Just the same, phillips is a fraction of the cost.

  12. well its done i emailed him tonight and had a reply in 30 mins so i got paypal sorted and sent the cash $200 US delivered to AUS i am pretty happy as i had a look at a few aussie sites today and it would have cost me $500+ AUD to get one here. I went for the 4300 kit so i will have to wait and see how they are to install. I may even have my pipes back by then and i can put them on at the same time that would be cool.

    Cheers

    Marchy

You'll love them, install is a snap. Even I didn't screw it up. Here's some pics of the install I did on my '97.

Ps.. I just used the packing material as a spacer between the base of the bulb and headlight housing. Some folks used rubber washer and stuff. You'll see.

  13. Yes. Like Will said, it Corbin displaces the weight off your tailbone. My lower back/tailbone is especially sensitive, so for me it's like night and day. The Corbin is not especially soft though, but you get use to it. I like the GF and Lady with raised padding personally :icon_wink:

  14. Just weighed in this morning. 213.5lbs :icon_dance: . I've started exercising more. Mostly cardio seems to be doing the trick. That and portion size, lean meat, less eating out, ect. 10lbs lost since we started this thread.

    -Obby

Redd... Redd... Where are you? I'm not kidding. I lost 10 big.

    Nothing but silence :icon_sad:

  15. Well i will be sending off an email tonight about the HID lights and was just wondering if im on the right track? I am not too concerned about the colour of the light i just want bang for my buck or light for my buck. i want to do both the hi and lo beam so do i go for a 4300 5300 6000 ???? so many options to choose from i have read this thread a few times now and i think i want to go for the 4300 if i want more light am i correct? I will probably ask these questions again to the seller tonight but i just want to know what im talking about before i start any info would be great.

    Cheers

    Marchy

I actually had the 5300k on my '97XX. It had just hint of bluish/purple. This time I'm going with the more OEM style 4300k. They are just pure bright white. Either way, it will be night and day from what the stockers are offering.

  16. Andy ( anchiu35@hotmail.com ) is still selling the kits. I bought another H7 4300K kit for $195 shipped. If you email him, he will send you back the pricing options available.

IMHO, the HID and modified suspension are two of the buy $ for $ mod's you can get for the birds.
