    Clutch Question?

I do hear a different sound at 4000 rpm, too hard to explain. It starts at about 3,800 rpm and ends at 4,500 rpm (weird sound). It doesn't seem to affect anything noticeable though. I know that sound (marbles in the crankcase). My Turbo has that one for sure, but that's not happening with the bird. It is definately comming from inside the clutch cover when at idle in neutral only. (only when engine is warmed up, quiet when cold). :???: Ps. I run Spectro Golden 4 (10-40w), and the rattle noise is subtle but annoying.
  2. I have a '97 bird with 21,000 mi. (stock clutch). Once the bird warms up, I hear a clutch chatter/rattle. If I hold the clutch lever in, the sound goes away. Any ideas what's going on :?:
  3. .I'm currently still running my BT-45's. Now it's time to replace them. I don't really want to go the Avon route, heard a few bad things about them. How do you like the BT-020's? I was thinking of going the 010-020 route. Your thoughts?

    Micron's

I love my Micron's (dualies). Deep, smooth sound when crusing... Loud, throaty growl when opened up. When she start growling look out for a floater... You can visit the UK site for a comparison on exhaust sounds at: http://www.superblackbird.co.uk/downloads.htm
  5. My girl didn't like the bird ride (you're going too fast...). So i slowed down to 70 or so. BORING! After a while we pulled over for a break. She said that her seat was up to high and the wind was blowing her too hard. JOY! Now I ride alone... (that why i started the poll).
  6. Time for the "Age Old Question?" Girl or Bird? Here's the dilemma... Your "Wifee" wants to spend "Quality Time" with you ALL...weekend long... The weather is "TITS!". What do You do??? Do You... A) "Hang out with the the Wifee", and give her a good long...deep...f'ing? or... Take the "Bird" out for a long beautiful Spring ride (for mechanical testing of course)? C and D are optional...
  7. That shit happens to me all the time. By now i should be able to build a motorcycle from the missing parts.
  8. Since i just changed my windscreen recently, i will fess up. All but the two rubber mounted lower bolts/nuts are easy, just turn-and-go. To remove the two lower rubber mounted bolts/nuts, first unscrew them ((all the way)), until they come out. Then, lube up the rubbers with WD-40 (love that stuff) and twist them off from underneath the windscreen. Do it gently, like you did with your first girl () One at a time they will slip in and out easily (no kidding). Put the lowers in your new windscreen, there you go...
  9. Ok... I've done my homework now... Product ID: CR9EHIX-9 Category: Electrical NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUG Description: It may be time to invest in precious metal futures. NGK Iridium Spark Plugs represent the ultimate evolution of spark plug technology and performance. Iridium allows for a center electrode 75 percent the size of a platinum electrode and 24 percent the size of a conventional nickel electrode. The fine electrode tip is engineered for greater ignitability. And it's in the design of the iridium tip that makes Iridium IX a better spark plug. The electrode is not too thin and not too thick. It's just the right size to reduce the voltage required for spark and to maximize the overall longer life qualities of iridium. Price: $9.75 Here's where I found the info. http://www.motorcycleproshop.com/detail.as...ct_id=CR9EHIX-9 ...
  10. This may sound funny, but TASTE it. Anti-freeze tastes sweet (i know because i use to have a drinking problem ).

    Corbin Smuggler

    Second that NH-359 M I have a '97 though...
  13. damn... thanks guys. i needed to know if it could be possible. i never heard of a plug that cost that much before.
  14. I was quoted $15.00 ea. for the iridium plugs. Does that sound right?
  15. I've have the 1/8 throttle delay issue too. It's right when i just begin to open open throttle...then surging power ('97 carb cal. model with dyno jet kit and dual micron exhaust). It wouldn't be such a big deal if the big bird didn't have so much torque.

    Sprocket Changes

Pretty sure. I am the second owner though. It must be the jetting and exhaust helping out. Either that or I just hit it right.

    Sprocket Changes

Here's a story about one unexpected wheelie i got in second (44 teeth in rear). I was crusing along at 35-40mph (in third gear) on a city street. As i'm coming up to a street light, it turns yellow. I downshift to 2nd gear and hammer it. Micron's get loud, birds starts taking off. Mid-way through the intersection (at about 4500rpm's) the front wheel comes off the ground (completely unexpected) and start lifting up, up, up. It was a beautiful thing . Needed a cigarette after that one  .

170 miles... that's still great! What's wrong with mine? How can that be... I pay $2.20 /avg. a gallon here. It's starting to hurt.

 Damn.... that's what i'm talking about! What's wrong with mine? How can that be...
  21. Ray (aka RDosdorian), quit shooting you mouth off. You don't even own a Blackbird. You own an '02 BMW K1200RS... so let the BBird owner's help me out here. I'm trying to get an answer on the Beasts gas mileage. When I want your opinion, i will scape it off my zipper. 25-30 mph doesn't sound right. _________________________ :whip: My Bitch! _________________________ Ps. Guys, this is my riding buddy. Only he can put up with me.
  22. Yep, just ran down to the garage and verified it. Why do you ask?

Swampnut, That was me...I clicked the wrong answer by mistake and couldn't fix it. I meant to click the 26-30. Can you fix it?
  24. Not sure when the plugs were changed last as this is a faily new bike to me (5 weeks old). Like i said though, it's idling great and runs clean and powerfull throughout the powerband. I'm only getting about 30 mpg on average though (25 when riding hard). Maybe this is average for this size bike. The rear sproket has been dropped by 1 tooth. Maybe that's what's causing the problem. I'll be doing my first service as soon as my manual arrives. When i do the oil, i'll check the air filter and maybe the plugs (what a bitch it is getting to them). Hopefully i will find something wrong. As it is now... I feel like i'm chasing gas stations on long rides.
