    NBL, gayboy!

    ROTFLMAO,

That's what I though too at first. My wife and kids do the Pilates. I haven't got up the nerve yet.

  2. I went from 285 to 250 at a fairly constant rate of 2-3 lbs. per week. Then for the past month, I've been bouncing around between 250 and 253. I've been doing the low carb thing and going on 1/2 hr stationary bike rides at the gym twice a week. I can't figure out anything I've changed in the past month. WTF do I need to do to get this thing kickstarted again. Its fucking pissing me off...

    Steve

I would put real money that you're doing fine. On the South Beach Diet, they say that you will lose alot the first few weeks quick, then stop. It's you body adjusting. Don't give up they say. Even if you cheat and eat something you know you shouldn't, it's ok. Just keep in mind you're goals and eat moderately several times a day. That's my 2 cents anyways.

Keep up the good work. You'll love the end results.

    -Obby

Ps. I'm down 38lbs in 7/8 months. 8 pounds came off in the first 2 weeks, the rest took some time.

  3. Uhh. I'm kinda off the South Beach Diet, but I'm still losing weight. When I say that, I mean, I'm cheating with some 'bad carbs' and 'take out food' from time to time. I'm down to 197 now.

It's been slow going, like about a pound a week at best. I'm really not exercising much, unless you consider running around at work 24/7 exercise.

Anyways, I noticed I'm eating less (at least my wife did), and I feel fuller faster.

I still miss the NY steaks, filet minion, prime rib, tri-tip, baked potato's, all on the barbi :icon_drool: ect... but I can live with the alternatives for a while.

Anywho, How is everyone else doing? Any updates?

  4. An update since I decided to really loose some weight

On the 3rd week of June I went up to 232, pants were getting really tight and I did not want to spend $$ on new clothes, you never know what will motivate you to do something.

LOL, that's what inspired me too, being cheap and refusing to go up to a 42 inch dress pants size. People ask me how I have the disipline too keep losing weight (started at 235 - now 195), I tell them that it all started with refusing to go up another size in pants, then I just couldn't go back to the way I use to eat. I do miss some of the things I use to eat, but I cheat here and there, just not everyday. Balance.

I like you're bike riding idea, sounds fun. I hate running too. I've been doing long distance walking during my lunch hour at work and a sh't load of chores at home.

  5. When I shift into first from neutral, there is a significant "clunk" as shifts. I bought the bike 3 years ago and it had 11k on it and hasn't improved/deteriorated since. I also changed the oil to mobil 1 synthetic, hoping it would help/eliminate the phenomena. I figure it's probably normal for this model, but I keep hearing others on the board talk about how smooth thier bikes shifts so now I'm starting to wonder. Is this normal, or should I be concerned?

What year is you're bird? My '97 would clunk alot through 2nd, but I never had any issue with it. As I got to know where to shift it was quieter. My '01 has less clunking, but more whining through 3rd. Go figure. What ever, it's still not missing any gears or falling out, so no worries IMO.

I suggest slap some nice clutch-up 2nd's and break that damn thing in. The Honda tranny is very strong. As well as the clutch.

That may smooth things out for you.

    My 2 cents.

  6. I don't care what the service manual recommends. I set it to where I like it -- which is almost no play (other than as necessary to avoid the handle bar position binding that Bob mentioned). For me, it's easier to smoothly roll throttle on and off (esp. with two fingers on the brake lever) from a fully closed position when adjusted that way. Not suggesting anyone else do that, and it could feel way too sensitive to someone unused to that, but that's what I've always liked and am used to.

I like NO PLAY too. At least hardly noticeable. Turning the handlebars is always a good idea too. Don't ask me how I found out :icon_redface: .

  7. Just a quick update. I brought the bird back for an adjustment at the installers. It turns out they had the sag setting off. Something about the forks being upright, rather than inverted. They are use to adjusting for inverted forks. I knew something was wrong when the forks bottomed out on a hard stop this last weekend.

In any case, they re-adjusted the settings with me/my gear and full pack. It took them 3 tries to get it dialed in at 34 (whatever that means).

One my ride home, I noticed the difference immediately. So sweet now.

If anyone want a nice set of gold pre-adjusters, PM me. I'll send them out to ya for half price (25 bucks to you're door).

  8. Gotta agree with MileHi, I did the DIY kit for my Traxxion order (same everything as yours) and there is NO adjustment screw visible or accessible on the lower part of fork. Only thing there is the allen head screw that holds the cartridges in place.

    Kinley

I wonder if my installer had me mixed up with another customer? :icon_think: They do tons of bikes there every week.

When I have them do the rear shock I will see if he can make sure it's setup right for me. For now I'll just start playing with the preload adjusters.

    Thanks for the help!

    -Obby

  9. Definatly don't have to remove the cartridge. My installer said that I could just back out the screw down there to help take out harshness. I may run back over to the shop with the bike and see what he's talking about.

Unless your guy did something special with your fork lowers (or you have the "special" '02 lowers :icon_lol: ) There doesn't appear to be ANY adjustment screws (visible) on my bike...

I did see holes under there. I'm guessing that those are stock though?

  10. The installer told me that there was an adjustment that could be made at the underneath bottom part of the fork legs? Would that be the compression dampening? I haven't look there yet.

Yeah, that'd be where you'd find it, but unlike my FJR, where such an adjuster actually is accessible as an adjuster protruding out of the lower fork leg, no such modification exists on the Bird's lower leg. Maybe it's a part of the cartridge mounting bolt that you access from the bottom after removing the axle??? Or maybe it requires the cartridge to be removed from the lower leg and allows some adjustment before reinstalling???

It's news to me, but maybe I need to read more about all the features on this thing.

  11. Get a book Steve. :icon_biggrin:

If you have the sag set, there's nothing to change there -- and the spring rate isn't changed by adjusting preload anyway. There are no compression damping adjusters on the forks, even with the Traxxion kit -- you got what you got when you specified weight and riding style as part of your order, though that can be reworked if you wanted to go that far. Less compression damping would soften the ride when you hit bumps (as would less stiff springs). You can adjust rebound damping (silver slotted screw in the middle of your black preload adjuster sticking out of the top of your fork caps), but it's really a fine tuning adjuster -- the rebound damping valving you got (again per your order specs) gave you the range of rebound damping you're going to be within. Rebound damping controls how fast the forks are allowed to return to extension (by the force of the compressed spring) after being compressed on a bump. It may not solve the problem you feel (desire for a plusher ride), but note the initial setting and play with them from there to see what feels best.

I knew it, BOOK comment LOL.

Anyways, I did play with that touchy rebound damping screw. I'm carrying a shorty standard screwdriver with me now for quick adjustments. I gave it a half turn to get rid of a rolling, sea sickening bounce on the hwy I was getting. Then that was too rigid, so I backed it off to a quarter turn, then a bit less even. Now it feels pretty good, but still a little harsh when hitting bumps.

I haven't touched the preload adjuster yet (the adjusment that have the anodised knobs available [attachmentid=1804]). I just got the preload adjuster knobs, so I can start playing with those next. Maybe back it off a quarter turn and see what it does on my ride home today.

  12. I would like to dial in the new Traxxion kit a little better. It's Sag should already be set pretty well from the installers. I would just like to know what all the adjustments do. I have fully adjustable rebound, compression damping and spring preload (which is where I don't know :icon_redface: ). Can anyone tell me what each does? ...and I know, get a book, but I thought I'd ask a few of you first.

My goal is to get a smoother, less harsh ride that eats up the bumps, but stays tracking in tight turns. It's pretty good now, but a little harsh.

    Thanks,

    Obby

  13. Obby,

Keep us up to speed with this one. I too have an 01' ( non Cali ) that desperately needs a PC, an I'd prefer a PCIII VS a PCII from all the headaches I have heard about the PCII's. It sounds like some bullpoopy though that you'd need to interface at each injector, the MAP sensor, and the TPS. I have never heard of an offset computer needing to be connected in that fashion. It would make more sense to me that the connection point would be right between the ECU and the harness. ANyway, let the rest of us know what you find.

    Adam

The correct PCIIIUSB is part # 113-411. It connects to the wiring harness on under the tank on the left side righ t by the fuel rail. I can't give you any #'s about performance as the one I bought off the asshat on Ebay doesn't work :icon_slap: . Lesson learned the hard way again :icon_banghead: .

  14. I can reach the lever pretty well in the #1 position, especially if I don't let it go and just keep it in just before it engages the clutch. I do need grips though. Like you said Krypty about the pencil thing. My hands are way too big for those little bars. I have to wear huge winter gloves just to be able to ride the bike right.

  15. I hit my goal of 215.

Officially I'm down 34 pounds since the start of the year.

My new goal is 210 and cut up a bit.

I have NO clothes that fit anymore. What a fat fuck I was. Dammit...

This has been a complete life style change for me. Exercise almost every day, eat lots of fruits and veggies, stopped drinking soda, don't eat my weekly bag of doritos or peanut butter M&Ms.... very low sugar intake, high protein intake.

This week the wife has been out of town and I have eaten like shit... there is no food in the house so I have been ordering pizza and eating subway. Gawd, i can't wait til she comes home and starts taking care of my eating habits again.

Congrats! Great work there. I know it's not easy.

My total loss is 25lbs. All my jeans fall right off. Only some of my dress pants fit.

Dieting is expensive. No wonder the poor are fat. If I was broke, I would be.

A big bag of Cheeto's and twinkies are 2~3 bucks. Fills you up for most the day.

A healthy breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner costs me 5 time that at least. But do I look and feel better? Oh yeah!

    My 2 cents...

  16. Question for all you Pazzo Lever guys...

I have my clutch adjusted all the way in (setting 1). I would still like it closer, is there any further adjustment that can be made?

    Obby

    Get thicker handgrips :icon_whistle:

LOL, I do need those. I'm still using the stockers and hate them. The little dimple ones are way better. This time I'm going to try out the BMW Touring one's.

    Thanks for the reminder :icon_wink:

  18. Thanks Obby,

Those bulbs work fine for the front mirror-mounted lenses. The rear signal housing uses a 1156A(or NA) configuration, which is not interchangeable (1156 have even retention pins, 1157/use a staggered retention pin).

The rears are what I currently need.

BTW, a pair of Philips Crystal Vision 1157NA/2057NA costs under $10.00 retail at Meijers (Michigan retail store chain).

My bad. I was working my ass off and posting alot too today (4 monitors :icon_biggrin: ). I didn't notice you needed rears. Can't help you there off the top of my head. I like the stockers personally in the rear . I hope that didn't come out wrong HERE :icon_eek: !

  19. Obby,

Didnt you sell your carbed bird?

Anyone try this with an FI XX?

    BTW, nice use of

    QUOTES

    :icon_biggrin:

Yep, carb'd baby's gone. I think Pete said his WAS an FI bike. Yes?

    :icon_dance: Well I'm back! WOW! I love it! :icon_dance:

The install went easy, only problem is it comes with the wrong gasket ($12 from Honda). It's close but not quite. I used it by cutting it and using about 1 inch of RTV to join 2 sections. I have the correct one on order.

I took it out listening for pinging and there's slightly more in higher gears at full throttle between 3 and 4k rpm. I was almost out of gas so I filled up with the 89 mid-grade and after 5 miles to empty the float bowls no more pinging.

I think 60 cents a tank is worth the performance increase. (I've always used 87 till now)

What it does for part throttle is amazing! You know that feeling you have when you're cruizing down the highway at 70 with a 20 mph tailwind? It's like that all the time. The amount of throttle required to maintain speed is so small it's barely off closed throttle. It's got to improve MPG because of this. (I'll let you know)

Throttle response and power is better everywhere, but the biggest improvement is in part throttle.

    Well worth the $72!

This applies to 97 and 98 only. I can't comment on 99 and newer. Since they're FI, and have a knock sensor.

    Forget it, my bad!

    I can't read for shit.

Great :icon_confused: , thanks Pete... There goes another 70 bones for me :icon_rolleyes::icon_wink:

  21. Down another 2.5lbs. I had to go buy new work clothes. My pants were falling off and shirts look like circus tents on me :icon_dance: .

I was down 3.5, but gained a pound back over the long weekend. Damn barbeque!

Oh well, very happy with my progress.

    Is the 30-Days up? :icon_eh:

I've finally hit my goal of 210lbs. Took me a bit, but the TBME sure helped. When I got back, the first thing she said is... Did you lose more weight :icon_razz: . I weight in at the 210lbs I mentioned. I said it must have been all those twistied and wheelies that did it :icon_rolleyes: . I had too much fun on the roller coaster section :icon_rolleyes: .
