  1. What about wrapping the collector pipes with heat tape? Has anyone done that? My only real concern is tranfering extra heat energy back to the exhaust valves.
  2. what do the plugs look like?
  3. Im on my second set of 208's and love them... not regrets except the rear eats through in 4-6k miles. Stick like white on rice though...
  4. I just put my Micron Stainless slip-ons on tonight and I have to admit that I need a smoke... They are AWESOME!!! I loved my 2 Bro's system - It was just plain nasty. It really woke my bike up and it performed significantly different than these slip-ons, but none the less the Microns have everything I was originally looking for. Good looks, great sound, and a little extra umph everywhere. The 2 Bros system turned my 'bird into an Open Class Racer. It lost some power down low, but made every bit of it and more up above 5k. When I went back to the stock exhaust I found all that low rpm torque that I didnt even know I was missing. I ride two-up with my sons very often and the 2 Bro's was a little bit of a handful. On the other hand, I think the Microns sound even better at idle. They have a really deep bass note. The motor sounds a couple of hundred cc's bigger below 5k. The difference between the two set-up is that the Microns help make a little bit more power everywhere and the powerband is flatter, more like stock only a little bigger. Here's my analysis of system characteristics... 4:1 Systems = peaky horsepower and torque curve. Need to be wound up to get best performance, but man do they make performance! In two-stroke terms it's called "the hit". Also these systems dont make as much torque down low as other types of systems. 4:2:1:2 system (stock) = Nice linear power curve with a gentle kick up high. Not as much horsepower potential as a 4:1, but it makes up for it in freight train torque that starts at 0 rpms. 4:2:1:2 systems (aftermarket - free flowing mufflers) = A nice combination of the two previous systems. Good torque, relatively linear horsepower and torque only not as peaky as 4:1 systems. Im gonna miss my 2 Bro's shotgun setup, but my wife and my neighbors wont... When I get my second 'bird (which I will have at some point!) it will have a nasty 4:1 system.
  5. not only will it hit, but it can (mine did...) crack your rear tail fairing too. I wont do a motech again. Plus, the tail lights get filthy and are next to impossible to clean. I went back to pseudo-stock (shortened turn signals, next Im going to integrated tail light).
  6. Does anyone here stateside have these? Can they be ordered???! Damn, I like those alot better than the Beetle bags!
  7. Dowco is a good cover. Mine lives indoors, but I like the cloth lining over the windshield and that it fits "right" on the bike. No sags or obvious issues. Priced good too.
  8. Labor is ~$50 to spoon it on leaving $90 for the tire. I'd say that's a good deal. That's wht I paid for my Dunlop front.
  9. I just replaced BOTH front and rear Dunlop 208's at 3500 miles because the rear showed through, and the front was "starting to" cup... I value my ass way more than the cost of a front tire anyday. Fess up pup. you're riding with the big boys now. Spend a kilo-buck for the right tire at the right time.
  10. Turns out the great guy (Mike) that I got the 2 bros from has the centerstand stop and is gonna ship it to me. So, I'll take a pass on another one until I can see mine. I'll be watching the thread though, sound like they are gonna be cool.
  11. I put an eBay R1 rectifier on mine for ~$40. It was a lot cheaper than the Honda unit. Looks like the new Honda one with big fins.
  12. I suggest going throught the charging system check. Put a volt meter on the battery, and start the bike you should get between 12 and 13 volts on idle. Now slowly increase the rpms to until volts increase to about 14. This should happen around 3500rpm. If it doesnt, then you probably have a bad regulator, if it does, then do a load check on the battery. I also think the advise of checking/cleaning your connections is a good one. Something is definately funky if the tach died, then the bike coughed and the FI came on... Normally when the tach dies that indicates a serious electric problem.
  13. There are more pictures on my website: http://wariosgarage.com/warios%20garage%20...bird/index.html I'm hoping the sun comes out sometime soon and I can get it outside for more pictures...
  14. Look at you Mr. CAD drawing!!! Nice! I'm not worried about 10th of a gram... but I would like it to be sexy - Sign me up. Any gross estimate on the price? 0->$100, $100-> $1000...?
  15. And, it sounds BAD ASS too!!! Took it out today and went to get Chinese Food. I parked it and went in, and as I looked out at the lot I see this 70+ year old guy come over and circle it for a good ten minutes... So I come out and with my food and he asks me if the bike could "do one of those stand up on the rear wheel things like he saw on tv...?" I said "yup" with as much modesty and "jethro" as I could and asked him if he wanted to throw a leg over... He looked at me, then the bike for a long second, then back at me, grinned and said - "nope". He then continued to gaze at it from all angles for another ten minutes. He just kept walking around the bike, looking and smiling - He did say that he believed Honda made "good stuff" and that this bike looked like it would probably ran real good. I told him it did... I didnt have the heart to start it and make him waste a Depends - no disrespect intended. For all I know he could have been an ex-board racer with balls that could make mine look like mesquito nuts... I love bikes for this reason, among many. I am pretty confident that he went home with a solid woodie -
  16. I'd explain what it looks like, but I'll just snap a photo of the TiForce one I got. There, there. I'm gonna build them, so no worries. now, all my exhaust hardware is on one side (right)... We're still talking centerstand stop with nothing (no mufflers or pipe) on the left, correct? :?: :?:
  17. How bad is the "dip"? Does it fall on it's face, or is it a slight hesitation?
  18. I think I want one - what do they look like? I google'd TiForce centersand and didnt get nutt'in I called 2 Bro's today also and they said then dont make anything like this...
  19. Thanks to Mike in Connecticut, I am the new proud owner of a of 2 Bros Shotgun set I cant see how a centerstand would ever look good with a set-up like this. I think I am just going to keep the centerstand available and put it on when I need to do maintenance.
  20. Ok, so if one doesnt have a left can to stop the centerstand, then what does one do? I'm getting a 2Bros full shotgun system (two cans on the right) and I am wondering what I am I supposed to do to stop the centerstand from hitting the chain?
  21. My bird get ~35mpg with a k&n and punched mufflers. It gets marginally better mileage if I run between 4k and 7k rpm's. My issue is that as soon as I go past 7k rpm's everything gets blurry... I was wondering if anyone else has this same problem?! Oh, by the way, you're having a milage problem because your sparkplugs are cupped...
  22. Dunlop D208's are the best rubber I've ever had... very sticky, very predictable. I dont care if they wear out fast, I want performance. I should get 5k out of them.
