  1. Tires. They are good quality but they wear strange on the front. Put a new front tire on and I bet the problem goes away. Is the aggrivation worth a $100 bill and some change? It is to me.

  2. The guy running Carbotex had moved to the DFW area from Houston, shortly after that his small son came down with a VERY serious illness (life threatening) he stepped away to take care of that and I guess he never made it back. The guy was a really nice and helpful guy. I guess he just got dealt a raw deal with the kid, I hope everything has gotten better for him I can't imagine having a son or daughter with a life threatening illness. That scares the shit out of me just thinking about it.

IT IS SO WRONG THAT KIDS GET SICK. THAT IS ONE OF THE WORST THINGS I CAN THINK OF!

  3. My buddy is bringing his '01 cbr600f4i over tonight for me to help him with an electrical prob he had last night

He was riding at night and the bike died when he hit the high beams It restarted, the front blinkers would light up solid (both at the same time) when he hit the signals and the back worked fine. every time he hit the high beam it died. The battery was replaced about 6months ago but that is where I'm going to start. I'm not sure if it is going to be it but I know a bad battery can do strange things.

  4. Have you pulled and examined your coolant pump yet? You say the coolant looks a little "dirty." Could it be debris fdrom a fragged pump?

Good thought, I'll pull it apart tonight. The dirty look was just a little cloudy off colored green, thats all, not like a bunch of sediment or anything.

  5. OK

    Pulled the thermostat (fine)

Drained and flushed the coolant (a little dirty)

Refilled with water and water wetter.

    Cooling fins are fine

no short in electrical (it really gets hot I can barely touch the bottom of the tank)

    Fan comes on

    SONOFAF-NBITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What the hell. I am lost. I don't know what to do other than trade it in for a new bird. I really don't want to do that, but shit.

Does anyone make aftermarket cooling pump blades or cooling fans???

  6. Thermostats very seldomly fail, and almost never fail in the closed position.

Are you sure your stat is at fault? What are your symptoms?

The thing runs on the warm side at speed but if you stop at a light, it starts heading toward the red!! The other day, I was stopped at a light for a long period (granted it is 100 degrees here) and it shot up past the red. You couldn't hardly touch the tank. This was happening before and the cap was found to be faulty but that was just last year.

  7. I have called ALL of the dealerships in the area and nobody keeps them in stock!! I really would like to ride. Does anyone know if there is an automotive thermostat that would cross over? I noticed the honda dealers want anywhere from$32 to $49 depending on which one I ask. Seems that all of the auto parts are under $5.

HELP!!!! My scoot is a '99 XX

  8. Sorry I have been out a while, I got to go thru a divorce....yea. You know why divorces are so expensive ?? Because theyr'e worth it !!!

Anyway, I have butt loads of these sliders. I make three different ones, polished and brushed aluminum and black delrin.

  9. The first ones will be aluminum and I'll get to the black ones. And yes, I'll try to discount them.

Right on....btw, I pissed off some Harley doodes this weekend getting off a ferry....everyone starts them up and fuggin potatoe potatoe everywhere bellowing throughout the deck....crap, I look over at my bud and put my feet up on your frame sliders and put my arms up like I was holdin onto a set of ape hangers right up front surrounded by about 20 hardley bastards...fug mang, thought they were all about to kick my arse but it was funnier than hell

    Laters-

    Sanch

    :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

  10. I have a story of a different tale. I'll NEVER EVEN MUTTER that name again. Those bastards (I'm being nice) I placed and order for spark plugs and a filter, waited...............waited............waited, I heard or saw no confirmation of my order. One full week later I call them, the scrotum breathed ape snatch snot bastards, and the leisurely say that they will have to go find my order and call me back.........4 fucking hours later (4:00 on friday afternoon) I call back..........oh yea, the cockknocker bitch that has a 4week old loaf of bread bubbling out from between her legs, we haven't ordered it yet........silence as the viens in my forehead grow so large you could pass a german shepard with rabies and a raging case of doggie VD thru them.......well, I said (unbelievably calmly) I am in need of those parts by Wednesday, what needs to happen to complete that task. She says, well I guess you need to bump your shipping to next day air.

HMMM. How much will that cost, I ask....Let me check and call you back.....No, I don't mind waiting on the phone..........Few minutes later she comes back with (by the way the parts are cheaper because the shipping and handling makes up for it my order was going to be $26 for shipping, ground I know better) well UPS next day air will run you an extra $96 plus the $26 that you have already paid......    .....So I mention that she said that they haven't ordered it yet so what about the time to get to them.........more steam..... well, I guess the filter can drop ship to you from the warehouse (Chaparral I bet) but the plugs are coming from another warehouse that won't direct ship so we will fax the order tonight and we will probably see it sometime mid-week then we willnext day it to you, of course that is another next day charge but we won't charge you our other shipping fee since we seemed to have messed up....................UNFUCKING BELIEVABLE... I am now at $218 for shipping $64 worth of parts that won't be here in time. I told her thank you but cancel the whole order please.

I hung up, got online with Dennis Kirk ordered the parts $84 later (that is $52 for the parts and $32 for Red shipping) and the box was merrily waiting on my doorstep on Monday when I arrived home.

    No offence but

    FUCK PARTS 411

But I'm glad for your enjoyable shopping experience.

Please do not take offence to this, unless you work for those rat bastards.

  11. Are you talking about sliders like the ones here from R&G Racing?

You need to cut your fairing to install these, too.....

    blackbird3.jpg

Those are similar to my idea. That seems to be about the placement of them. There is definately tricks to getting the placement right before you cut. The best is to use play-doh or something simular on the inside of the fairing, install the frame slider, and press the fairing up where it would mount and presto, a template.

  12. I was tinkering with the idea of building some race type frame sliders. For you guys that are afraid of the fairing mount bending.

These will involve cutting a 2" diameter hole in each lower fairing and replacing two of the motor mount bolts with the ones provided in the kit. My plan is to make them out of polished aluminum (since that seems to be the most popular).

It just makes my butt pucker to go cutting on a perfectly good fairing but I'm working on the first set and I can post some pics when they are done.

  13. By the term "half set" do you mean a shorter piece that would go on the bottom of the fairing?

I think yours would look better if they were shorter....didn't look like traditional frame knobs.  How did you decide the length?  Is the length designed around what you felt was optimal crash protection, and if so, based on what parameters? Or did that just look right to you?

Actually the one in the pictures above are 1/2" longer than these, the current ones that I am making. (I'll get a little better picure tonight)

  14. That said, RikRad here on our forum make a similar product that members have raved about.  I'm sure he'll have info available here soon as we get back up to speed.

Here is some pics of what I have available.(I have brushed aluminum also just can't get the damn picture to load)

BTW, on the way to Houston this weekend we were able to "TEST" a set, not intentionally mind you, a buddy that went with me has the silver 02 bird on my website and he went down at a repectable speed (about 30 or so) on a road that was under construction on gravel. The lower fairing was toast but it did save the upper, the engine case is fine and it seemed to minimize the damage. The big question was answered though, the fairing mount was not bent. That is a good idea about the lower mount, I never thought about that. I'm going to crunch some numbers and see if I can cut enough cost to do a "full" and a "half" set if any are interested (those that have already bought some would get the same deal and I'll send the other pair for the difference in price.
