  1. I had a K&N on the full race Micron System and the bike ran rich as hell because the stock map on the FI computer saw more air in the box and compensated with more fuel.

I rode like this for over a year and gas mileage did suffer as well as smelling like a rode through a gas shower after riding.

I put in the PC3 USB this summer and WOW what a difference. Gas mileage is back, carbon build up is cleaning up, and power feels AWESOME.

Placing this info notice here one time and in the garage where an admin will prolly sticky it. This is the 2005 Parts Unlimited catalog available for download. I only have 40 gb of bandwidth so get it while you can. Make copies for your buddies on CD if you can to help preserve the bandwidth.

THIS THING IS HUGE !!! If you can't find it in here than you need help or do not need it. The physical catalog is so big they had to break it up into two books.

Louie out. All pricing shown is full retail but any member of this forum can automatically take 10% off anything over $25. Most times when you email me for pricing and shipping the price will be more than 10% off but I wanted to give everyone a universal starting point. The smaller priced items we can figure when you email me for prices and shipping (I.E.- Oil filters, spark plugs, etc...)

I WILL TRY TO COMPETE WITH THE INFAMOUS SWMOTOTIRES.COM ON TIRE PRICES

I am still working on the www.partmonster.com/bird/xxpartspage.htm so stay tuned to that.

Louie out. I hope you like this and use it.

  3. MY EMAIL TO ELECTREX TONIGHT. SPOKE W/ DAREN. SENT HIM INFO TO HELP US NARROW DOWN WHY BOTH MY PARTS UNLIMITED BOOK AND HIS WEBSITE SITE 97-01.

    Daren,

Here are the links to help you do some research to see if their truly is a difference between the 97-98 vs the 99-01.

It looks like 97-98 uses one type and 99-00 and later use another type. Looking at the diagram

here for a 97-98, this is what I have:

    http://www.ronayers.com/fiche/200_0351/wir...rness_97-98.cfm

    and...

Looking at the wiring diagram here for 99-00, the regulator is different. It has a round connector

    hanging from the regulator:

The forum link which will give you some history and a picture of the OEM RR that I sold to one of the fellas on this post is also in this link to the forum post.

The post will help you define why we are all confused and would love to iron this issue out for good.

Picture below is of the OEM RR advertised in my parts unlimited book from Ricks Electric as 97-01. It is completely different than the one on my 2002 in my garage as it has 2 connectors going to it. Your page in Parts Unlimited book says the same thing as well as the website. Thanks for all of your help ahead of time.

    Thanks,

    Louie and Paula

  4. I called Ricks to verify the cooling fins issue when you asked me about it. He confirmed that it has cooling fins. It seems I have been given a very bad misrepresentation of his product. I just got off the phone with him and explained as professionally as I could how upset I was. He apologized for the confusion and cited that he must have mistaken what I was asking. Yeah okay whatever.

The price is cheap but if the design is not improved then I see no gain in saving the money. It seems the Electrex is the way to go. I will be ordering an Electrex model and will take pictures to post here so we can all iron out if it truly fits the 97-01 as stated in the book and on their website.

I do have confidence in Ricks ability to build quality parts and you will most likely get years of use out of the RR. Time will tell on this issue. If it fails within one year I want to know about it.

Stay tuned for Electrex pictures. Sorry for not posting sooner but I was not getting the emails for "TOPIC REPLY". Glad I checked.

    Louie.

  5. SOCKET TOOL CUT WITH DREMEL TO MAKE THE TEETH.

1- Use piece of cardboard cut the the diameter of the hole in the frame.

2- Press hard enough to make an impression onto the cardboard.

3- Set socket upside down onto cardboard and make the lines to cut with dremel. Use a permanent marker.

4- Cut lines about 1/4" in depth. (might be more but you can start at 1/4)

5- Use file to smooth away rough edges or to fine tune the fit into the castle nut.

6- If memory serves me correctly I used either a one inch or a 1 1/8" socket.

I used this trick that elixxer suggested when rebuilding my bird. It worked like a champ !!

  7. Thanks so much for the love. We try to please. To explain what happened yours truly failed to pay attention to the ACTUAL tire size of some Pirellis in the garage. Paula (Mrs. Partmonster asked me what size they were and I emphatically said 180. WOOPS ole louie was wrong.

So we sent him a full set of Metzler Sportecs to make up for it with no extra charge. Glad we could get you running up as soon as possible. Thanks for being so understanding. Enjoy the sticky rubber as those things are like riding on glue.

  8. 30 inch inseam here. Since I am putting my bird back together anyway

I purchased a lowering link from Pro Tek with a 1 inch and 3 inch drop. I will be making sure to drop the front forks through the trees in order to keep the angle of attack exactly the same. I was originally going to do a 3 inch drop but after thinking of dragging parts I am thinking more of only inch is necessary. I will post back here when done.

  9.

After reading that I need someone to hold me.

Man what a fabulous mind !!! I could not have constructed that fantasy any better if I was stoned, drunk, tipping cows, while riding my bird through a cow pasture.

  10. Andy was telling me that one can use a CBR900 shock. I searched for such information and only found a post for the spring.

Can anyone shed some light on this subject please. Hows about posting in the Mods section of homepage?

What year CBR900 and what spring to use?

Thanks ahead of time for your help. I weigh in at 220 so I would like the adjustability.

    Louie
