  1. Thanks for the positive words but I wasn't getting discouraged at all. Like I said, I'm in no hurry and it's a great bike at a great price. Same with my Valkyrie I'm trying to sell. I'd rather wait for the right buyer who understands the value than give it away out of desperation. Fortunately I don't have to at this time.

  2. Yeah I know, bad time of year but I figured I would put it out there anyhow. I'm not in a hurry to sell. I'll probably pull it in a couple weeks and re-list right before Spring at the original price.

I am also considering putting the stock pipes back on, reducing the price and selling the pipes separately.

However, this time of year did not stop me from buying a new FJR so there might be one or two people looking for a special "end of season" bargain.

Honestly if I had a bigger garage I would just keep it but I have no room to work with four bikes in there. :icon_confused:

  3. Beside my three bikes, I have stored cars for over 30 years that some don't get started for months on end. I do use Sta-Bil but have found that if I also add SeaFoam (not a lot) the gas in the carbs stay better after long term storage.

+1 for Seafoam. Use it in all the bikes (FI and Carbed) The Valk has six carbs and I have never had a problem come Spring. I also take the batteries out, store them inside and keep them on a trickle charger.

  4. How many switches do you need? You could use something like this if you need three:

Or if you only need one, this works well and I just put one on my Valk for driving lights:

I also have one of these velcro'd under my tank on the VTX:

It's a good idea to add an auxiliary fuse panel and relay. I have the Centech AP-1 on the Bird and the AP-2 on the Valk. I like these because they have both power and ground connections where most fuse blocks just have power and you have to put in a separate ground block or connect all the wires to a separate ground somewhere.

Don't buy the relay kits from them though as they are a rip-off and you can get a relay and holder for less than half what they charge from just about any autoparts store.

    Have fun!

  5. So here's my 2 cents based on input from two different friends who are contractors when I had a similar situation. I was told that before vapor barriers, mositure and mold was not as big of a problem (in general) because the whole house breathed. Since the use of vapor barriers and house wrap to really seal up a house tight, any significant breach in the barrier can be a welcome mat to mosture problems and mold because the outside moisture wants to get in and concentrate at the breach. It's almost as if your house is a vacuum and you poke a hole in it. All the outside air wants to rush in through that opening.

So, for all I know, this could be total BS and barstool logic but as I said, it was told to me my two different people in the house building and contracting trades. Also with that said, I would imagine if you simply sealed up the wire entrance on the outisde wall you shouldn't have a big problem, one would think but again, I'm not an expert.

Sorry about your problem. I can't stand the knuckleheads they send to install stuff like telephone, cable etc. They're generally a bunch of butchers.

  6. The $40.00 a foot price was quoted to me last weekend by a good friend who owns his own successful construction business. Andy is a General Contractor and did my inspection for me at no cost also.

Cool, it's good to know people. BTW you and DBLXX are twisted :icon_rolleyes: .

  7. Wow, well if you can get it for $40 a square foot installed and it's good quality that's a super price. Up here it goes for between $60-$120 per square foot installed and that doesn't include a backsplash or any fancy edging. My next door neighbor runs the CNC machine for a local granite dealer and even he can't get it at that price installed.

  8. John, sounds like you have already made a wise decision about NOT using the HomeDirect club but just to emphasize the point, my neighbor and I both did kitchen remodels around the same time. She joined the buyers club and I did not. Both renovations were equal in size and scope (kitchens were taken down to the bones and counters, appliances, cabinets, floors and fixtures were all replaced). I shopped around, found the best deals locally and did a lot of the work myself but even not including the savings on labor I still overall paid less (about $2900 less) than she did AFTER she paid the membership fee. So overall I think she paid about $7000 more with being a member of the club. The quality of the stuff I bought was equal.

Are you going to be living in the house or are you flipping it? The reason I ask is that Formica or any laminate counters are so much less than granite that you could start with Formica and then upgrade down the road to save some money at the start if you are just going to live there. Just my 2 cents.

    Good luck with the deal.
