  1. I was at Ikea last night buying my kitchen table, chairs and bar stools and I ran into some laminate flooring they sell ther for $.99/sq ft. The best I can find at Home Depot or Menards is about $2.97/ sq ft. The Ikea stuff only has a 15 year warranty vs. the Home Depot stuff which is 20 - 25, but I am really thinking of buying it. I have about 230 sq ft. to do so the savings is significant. I have to buy all the finishing pieces at the Depot or Menards, but that is not a huge deal. Thoughts?

  2. Here are the pictures, starting with my foyer and entry doors. Straight ahead is the entry (of course), to the right is garage, left is closet.

Here is a shot of the bottom of the entry door. My cousins wife (I bought the house from my cousin) used to shut the door with her butt/hip (carrying groceries or kids....). Anyway, where the door and sidelight join, it has pushed the frame away from the floor.

Here is the door from outside and the brickmolding around the door up close.

Here is the picture of my backdoor out onto the deck and the tall windows on the side of the doors. All my windows and doors have to go.

Here are the other projects I am going to do. Kitchen floor is where I am going to do the laminate (as well as the foyer once I get the two doors replaced), the skylight/roof and here are what the rest of the windows look like in the house.

Once I get this house up to par, I have my lake place to work on. Can't wait!!

  3. I was looking at Home Depot online. I am going to measure my kitchen and foyer tonight and buy all the material I need for both. I think I am going to do my entry door and garage man-door, foyer floor and kitchen floor at the same time. Then it is onto the bathroom skylight, roof and gutters. I have a buddy who is a General Contractor so I think he gets a discount on materials. I am going to talk to him tonight.

  4. Yeah, thanks fella's. I will plan something in Spring. That would be awesome if I could get you, Tim and Jerry on or in a truck to party it up (bring the bikes???). Thanks fella's, I will post up the projects.

Tim, on another note, if we do the roof, can we just remove the skylight? I think I will tongue and grove the ceiling of the bathroom so with some insulation, I could just fill the skylight hole? Lets talk after I post the pics.

  5. Maxx, you can do all of your windows just like Nik did.

No, I can't. A couple of windows have rot and others are starting to get mold on them. I cleaned the moldy ones this year (just surface stuff) and re-stained them, but I am not doing that again. If I am going to replace windows, I am doing all of the window. This is seeming easier by the day. Thanks for the advice.

  6. I was in the attic and there is one sheet of plywood I know must be replaced. I would think we have to tear it off. The whole roof probably does not need it, but I would be game, particularly if it meant new gutters (the ones I have are shit, plastic). We will certainly talk. I just need to get ordering stuff. I need to figure out how to measure.... The roof, I will leave to you to help with.

  7. I have found that anything for my house I can find at Menards. It is a fucking Menards house!!!!!

With that, the doors are surround by brick molding (?) The windows are too. I had to replace some rotting shit around my man door to the garage. I think everything should be stanadard, but I would really like to see someone do one first. My entrance is a bit special as the bottom of the door has pushed away from the floor. I will take some pictures of the outside and inside tonight.

I would happily fly you up to help me out with the skylight, 1 door, 1 window in spring. I can buy everything over the winter and do them then? Thanks for the help.

P.S. BTW, I am going to start doing some work on my house here in MSP. Tim, I have to fix that fucking skylight, then I am going to tongue and groove the bathroom ceiling to cover the water damage. I then have to do all my windows and doors (front door, man door to garage and french door to deck). Will then need to do deck and by that time, it will need a new roof and gutters. Then carpet (which I will have someone do) and then I should be done. I am waiting on the carpet to keep Gus from making it old too fast. HELP!!

  9. I need a lesson on Windows and doors. I have to replace them ALL. My house is 10 years old and they really bought shitty windows and doors when they built my house. I hate that. I have never done one before and would love a tutorial. I am needing to replace everything (not just a pocket replacement). Thanks in advance boys!!

  10. I saw a drop of 2-5 MPG, but I don't really care, still look for gas around 180 Miles just like before. Anyway, if you buy the Factory kit, just change out the mains to match the European setting (up 1 size across the board) and then bump up the pilots. Move needles to Factory's advised setting and you will be set. This will also allow you to throw on slip-ons and not have to change anything. Just my $.02

  11. I've got a set of Avon AV45/46. they grip really well and I've got about 8000Km on them so far, back tire is about 50% and the front almost looks new.

Unfortunatly I've got a plug in the back tire so it will be getting replaced as soon as I can efford it.   I don't mind ridding around town with a plug, but no road trips with it.  I just don't trust it.....

How long is your riding season??

Fuck, Yellowknife, Northwest Territory just sounds WAY up NORD!!!

  12. If you are riding hard on the street, nothing beats the Metzeler M1 Sportecs. They wear pretty fast in city riding, but I would rather have the stick and they are cheap (here in the states anyway). If you are doing more touring, Avons seem to be the tire of choice here. I use Metzeler Rennsport race Takeoffs from my track bike (hey, aprilia mille, heard of it :lol: ) for touring, didn't work to well on this last trip though!!!

  13. I switched to Mobile 1 synthetic 15w50 on the first oil change at 500 miles. 23k miles later, every 3k change, no problems.

You change Synthetic every 3K miles!!! Wow.

I'll run a season on the XX with Synthetic in the spring, just change filters every other month.
