erixx Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 Hi my bird doesn't stop stop adding km/miles to the counter  , at the end of this year i may reach the magical 100.000. I've never read a magazine with a 100.000 endurance test of the Blackbird... is there something on internet? Also, my mecanic is quite 'intuitive' and does more or less than the manual says. He hears if the valves are okay and that sort of things... I wonder if i should let him check some specific points when i reach those 100.000.... ?? thanks in advance Quote
XX4me Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 You should definitely post a picture of the speedo when it turns. Quote
birdie_xx Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 Here is one from Arnold's website ( http://www.superblackbird.info/ ) Cheers, Quote
JJP XX Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 That is what my odometer will look like by Spring '05. Then it'll be time for my ST 1300. I'll keep the XX as a beater.  Quote
BIG BOY Posted January 9, 2004 Posted January 9, 2004 I think there is someone on this board that has a '97 or '98 XX in their garage with close to 150,000 miles on it. I know who it is, but won't mention no names. If this person wants to come forward and talk about it, that's another story. Quote
erixx Posted January 9, 2004 Author Posted January 9, 2004 i'll write a little story of my bike at 100.000,... for a magazine that gives you a set of tyres, sprockets and chain and EBC HH pads.... so i really wanna know how to get there  Quote
Northman Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 Are you talking miles or km on your bike, erixx? Seems to be some confusion here, as there's a big difference between the two. I know of a guy in Colorado that had over 100k about a year and a half ago. Not sure if he still has the bike, but didn't mention any major issues with it. Quote
JJP XX Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 Let's see...75800 miles = 121962km. So 100,000 miles = 160900km. And 100,000km = 62150miles That's if 1mile = 1.609km. Been so long since high school.... Quote
erixx Posted January 10, 2004 Author Posted January 10, 2004 hehehe, thanks for pointing that out! Indeed, on a smaller scale it's insignificant, but when talking about 100.000's theres some difference!!! Ok, i'm mainly talking about KM'S because here the magazines give the 100.000 km prize. Now, 100.000 MILES is an excellent goal for a bike, isn't it! Back to the issue, i worry about how much 'fun' (speeding, dragging, wheelies, etc) the bike will still give me. Should i start to drive with more caution from certain point on? Or will a major mantaince just put the bike back in shape as usual? Quote
black black bird Posted January 26, 2004 Posted January 26, 2004 My bike is 4 yrs old abnd its the 99 version it has done a grand total of 172000 km anybody can beat taht... Quote
erixx Posted January 26, 2004 Author Posted January 26, 2004 What are the problems that arrive with such high milage? Are you doing revisions more frecuently? Oli consumption higher?... What did you see inside the engine (if you/they had to open it) ? Congrats!!! Quote
