To measure steering head bearing pre-load, the manual says to use a spring scale.

Where do you find a spring scale that measures within the range of 1.0 to 1.5 kilograms of force?

... is seemingly assumed. For those who'd like a little help, try www.joshmadison.com for the trickest conversion software.. even NASA uses it... and it's FREE..! Use his site's search engine for "convert".

Guess that I should have been more clear with my posting.

Does anyone know where to buy a good spring scale that I could use to measure the steering head bearing pre-load on my XX?

Pretty certain a scale used for weighing fish (hooks through the gill) will do the trick. 1Kilogram=2.2046lb and 1.5 Kilogram=3.3069. So, I would think if you got the scale and then calibrated it with a know weight--you will have your needed tool. Happy trails kel

Your looking for just shy of 3 pounds. Try to find a light fish scale. I hard a hard time finding one. everything started at 2 pounds and was every 2 pounds. A bit of a pain. Use it for a reference, because it's difficult to get accurate with your cables etc rubbing against it.
