Guys, I need your advise. I just changed the front pads on my 97' with new EBC HH pads. I also cleaned each caliper including the pistons (slightly extended) with a tooth brush to remove any dirt that would prohibit the pistons from backing off when not on the brakes. Simple job no problems at all. Why do my brakes still rub up front? I can hear them rubbing...it's that familiar brake sound (whine) I'm sure we all know. While at rest on the center stand I can rotate the front wheel and the brakes rub but not excessively. What gives here? Am I trying to fix something that isn't broken? Is this a characteristic of the HH pads? I've bled the system several times and in the correct sequence.

Touching the rotors (fingers wet) after a short ride (no hard braking mostly off the brakes) will boil the water that drips on the rotor...this is NOT normal in my experience. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Any brake application will produce heat, and a lot of it.

I get minimal brake noise while riding, but barely audible. You should be able to rotate the front wheel freely, but still hear the pads touching.

Have the pads bedded in yet? Mine were noticeably noisy for the first few hundred miles, but got a lot quieter after that, and it's possible you are just hearing the normal rub of the pads for now.

Find a clear section of highway, and ride along for 1-2 miles, then coast to a stop without using any break. If the rotors are hot, then you definitely have a problem. If they're cool, or slightly warm, then everything is all right.

Hope it helps.

From your description, yes, you probably are.

When the front brakes are properly set up, there should be a slight amount of brake pad dragging that you can easily hear when rotating the front wheel. This is a normal characteristic of the floating disk design. Not to worry, IMO.

But if you're still concerned with it, do Northman's suggestion above... that's a good test.

Thank you all for your advise. When it finally F'ing stops raining here I will put your suggestions to good use. Thanks again.
