Intermittantly my center speedo light has been going out. I looked down last night and found that the bulbs on the left and right edges of the gauges were lit, but the two center ones are out. I though I had fixed it last week, but I was wrong.

When I took it off last week and fiddled with it, I discovered that the connection between the wiring harness and the circuit board backing of the gauges was not tight. The "socket" where the contact was made rocked back and forth a bit, causing the the end of the connecter not to make contact. Tracing the circuit board, it was evident that the farthest inboard connectors on that rightsided socket powered the two center bulbs.

Anyway I can make that connection more snug? When shoved in all the way, the center lights illuminate.. but after putting some miles on it the vibs cause it to back out a bit.

I had a similar thing happen to me with one of the tach lights. It would be on most of the time, but occasionally it would go out, then return. I didn't do anything about it since it would only be off every so often and for short periods of time.

Then, because of my accident, the clip portion of one of those sockets broke. Too cheap to replace the front harness, I just put short screws on each side through the plastic gauge cluster backing into the plastic that surrounds the the "socket". It seems to be more snug than the original connection since it won't rock back and forth like before. You need to be very careful and drill pilot holes, but it's not hard to do. Obviously you also need to make damn sure the screws are short enough to not get into the connections.

Kind of a ghetto fix, I know, but it worked for me.
