I'm working on some pages for the website including some tutorials on how to do some basic things as well as answering some of the questions we hear day in and day out. One of the things I'd like to help establish is a list of parts that are compatible between years. If you'll post which parts you know work on what i'll begin compiling the list. If you notice an error in someones previous post please let me know.

Post something like this...

Front Rotors - ( 97-03 ) ( tells me that 97-03 all use the same rotor )

Exahust Header - (97-98 99-03) ( tells me that 97s and 98s use the same, and 99 thru 03 use the same )

Thanks guys!

Front wheels are different from carb bikes to FI bikes.

97-98 fuel tanks do not fit FI bikes.

All body work can interchange, though the FI bikes do not have the mesh on the intakes under the headlamp.

This the kind of stuff you had in mind?

The Mesh that you are speaking of is aftermarket. My 01' didn't come with any such thing.

Exactly. The 97/98 have the screen, the FI models don't. Or are you saying that your 01 has mesh on the intake vents now? I sure hope not because I'm pretty sure they were removed to unrestrict the airflow for your ram-air.

Are we starting this now?

'97-'98 use the same rotor, '99-on use a different rotor, and they are not compatible.

Also we could put what parts are compatible from other models such as...

2002-2006 VFR bars fit the XX.

2001 R1 R/R can be retrofitted. Organ Donor has the details on this :icon_shifty:

The GL1800 and GL1500 (Goldwing and Valkyrie) oil filters fit the Blackbird.

Grips sized for the Goldwing will fit the Blackbird (any 7/8" grips will fit).

Buell XB9R pegs fit with modification.

Acctually, I have a few friends that have the xb9/12r models and the pegs are straight out. The xb9/12s models have the pegs that go down then out, giving you an extra 3/4 inch in lowering the peg.

I believe that the Goldwing Grips are considerably longer then the XX grips. Touring grips in general are much longer then Sportbike grips

Hey guys....I knew I had something to add here. (unusual, huh?)

The carbed XX had mesh screen protecting the intakes. The fuel injected models have a grillwork mounted on the intake. If you don't have it....somebody's removed it.

I recently bought myself a 02 blackbird that needed a little bit of love an nOw it's starting to look fairly good overall. But I'm still not completely happy with it. The rear tail just seems lil to bulky for my personal liking an so I've researched a lil bout doing a tail swap with a gsxr or r1 but can't find to much on it. Does anyone know if it's something I could do myself possibly??an also what is all needed by chance
