  1. Sounds great, thanks! It's going to be next Friday (the 17th) before I can do anything, but I'll send you a PM then. If it's still available, I'll take it. And even at $70 or whatever Canada Post wants, it's still a lot cheaper than new. Aren't the "dings" based on stated value anyway? I mean, if you put $10, then it shouldn't be much if anything. Or "gift"... not sure what's possible, but I seem to remember there being ways around that stuff for non-commercial items.
  2. Preferably Mototech, but I'd be happy to see what else anyone has. Red would be awesome, but I know it's unlikely.
  3. Pasadena for another four days, but I'm moving to the westside Saturday. I actually don't have any time to even look at the bike right now and am waiting until after I move to work on it. I'm going to put it on a trickle charger and see if that helps with the battery. Weird thing, though, is that the problem got worse as I was riding, so it doesn't seem like it would be a low battery, more likely a charging or connectivity/wiring issue.
  4. Awesome, thanks. I'll start with the battery and go from there. One last question, any particular brand recommendations on the battery?
  5. Awesome, thanks. I'll start with the battery, move on to the PC if that doesn't fix it. One other suggestion from the PO was: a wiring loom connection that sometimes gives problems since it is not necessarily that well sealed from the elements. it is a giant plug that I think allows the motor to be removed from the rest of the bike. You will have to go on the foruns or Google to get the exact location of it. Thoughts? Do you know what/where he's talking about?
  6. Last night I was riding the Bird on the freeway and started to get "hiccups" of power loss while cruising at around 70-75mph. These are just slight drop offs in power, slight hesitations. On my way back home, though, they were worse and then the engine died completely. I pulled over and was able to get it started again, but it was running pretty rough. I had about 1/4 tank of gas, so I got it to a station and filled it up, thinking maybe it was something to do with that (and that being the only thing I might be able to "fix" while on the road). It ran a tiny bit better, but was still hesitating. If revved to 9000, it would shut off again, but it made it back at least just cruising at 65-70mph. Have you encountered this before? Where should I start looking? Bad fuel? Clogged injectors (and if so, Sea Foam?)? Electrical issues? I know sometimes what seems like a fuel issue ends up being fire. This is a '99, btw, with a PCIII and Microns (if that makes any difference). It also has a slew of other stuff the PO put on, but it was all done with great care by a professional.
  7. It's an aftermarket seat. Not sure which one, but it doesn't look like the Corbin. I guess I'll just order the new tail and then deal with it all at the same time. Thanks for the advice, I'll see if I can dig the cable out. When I was poking around earlier the Power Commander was blocking the hole pretty well.
  8. So, it looks like someone tried to steal my bike, or at least my helmet. I went to unlock my seat and found that the lock in the undertail was loose. It was late at night though, so I didn't take a closer look until the next day. When I went to check it, the lock was missing completely and the undertail was cracked at the area near the tail light. It had also been pulled down on one side near the front. It looks like someone was trying to get in there. So, in addition to having to replace it, I'm not sure how to unlock my seat. Any suggestions?
  9. I recently purchased a new (to me) red Blackbird. I'd like to get some hard bags for it, preferably Beetle bags, but Givis might work. I had a '99 Blackbird before, but only had tank and tail soft bags, so any suggestions on where to look or what to look for are appreciated.
  10. I'm wondering what the differences are in the frame between the three versions of the Blackbird (97 & 98, 99 & 00, 01-07). I was looking at pictures of an '02 frame online and it didn't appear to have the same fairing mounts as my '99. Is that the case or is it just a bad pic? Thanks, Gray '99 Blackbird '93 CB1100F
  11. I was planning on getting a set of your front ones anyway, can I get both at the same time? I'm 6'3" and my girlfriend is 5'8", so they would certainly be more comfortable for the both of us.
  12. Sorry if this has already been covered, but what are the lengths for the pants? I'm tall and skinny, so most pants don't fit (for some reason, manufacturers think if you need a 36" length, you must have a >40" waist. I'm 33-34"W x 36"L, can they accommodate those measurements? Also, I saw earlier where someone had asked about longer sleeve lengths, did you ever find out if that would be possible? I'm a 40" chest, but usually find the sleeves on those are short by about 1" - 1.5", can they do 36/37" on a 40? Thanks, Gray
  13. I'm looking for a CDI / ECU for my 99 Blackbird. I've found a used one in Texas, but the guy wants almost what a new one costs. Anyone have one or a lead on where to find one? Also, I know the 97-98 one is different, but are they the same for 99-07? Okay, so 99-00 are different from 01-03(7?), but what's the difference? Are they just detuned a bit? Can I use the one from 01-03 until I can find a 99-00? Thanks much, Gray
