  1. Does this procedure cause any future problems for the engine? Do you have to replace or add other parts to strengthen the engine so that it will be able to handle the added pressure and/or stress? What about adding a turbo - in addition to over-boring?
  2. AlphaBird, Did anyone ever get the PCIII/Akra Map completed? I definately would buy a copy of the Map!
  3. I don't know if this helps, but... I thought that my forks were misaligned or something because it appeared that my handlebars pointed towards the right. I finally noticed that the clutch master cylinder is larger than the front brake master cylinder. After this discovery, the 'optical illusion' went away

    Magneto Cover

Does anyone know where to get touch-up paint for the 2002's Magneto Cover?

    K & N Filter?

Excellent input! Thanks guys! I think that I will keep my stock air filter for now

    K & N Filter?

THE OFFICIAL POLL: What provides more HP to the XX? A) K & N Air Filter Stock Air Filter C) Other Air Filter D) Hookers (riding the Bird and breathing hard) There.... Happy now?!

    K & N Filter?

I read somewhere in an earlier post that the XX actually loses horsepower with a K & N filter ...what is the general consensus?
  8. It might be a few weeks or so before I get my PCIII custom mapped. I'll have to check and see if my 2002 XX needs the O2 Plug... I was advised by Dakota that only the CA and European models use the plug (Can anyone else confirm this?). I'm still waiting for my Akrapovic full exhaust system (Sport Production Line) to come in, but I have received the PCIII and the O2 Plug (if needed) on Tuesday (06/10) which I will be installing this afternoon (06/11) ...stock map for now  Obviously the price for the buy in for the custom map will depend on the number of people interested. I'm planning to have it mapped/optimized for all out performance rather than fuel economy  Also, I read somewhere in an earlier post that the XX actually loses HP with a K & N filter ...what is the general consensus? If it helps in the long run, I will order one and install it before I have the custom map created.
  9. I contacted my local Power Commander Tuning Center who stated that it would cost about $270.00 for a custom MAP for the Akrapovic full exhaust and stock or aftermarket air filter  I'm still waiting for my full exhaust (Akrapovic Sport Production Line) and PCIII to come in. Anyone want to buy in for the custom MAP? P. S. I emailed DynoJet/Power Commander R&D who advised that Map 113-003 (Two Brothers Racing full exhaust and stock or aftermarket air filter) should get everything in the right direction

Maybe you guys can explain the ins and outs of 'set-up' to assist me with my re-education. :whip: But I'm still gonna run Pilots Sports (HPX)... so there :naughty:
  11. I live in Rapid City, SD. If you are familiar with this area then you no doubt have been in the Black Hills. There are many roads with tight twisties and beautiful scenery. I enjoy taking in this scenery… definitely at higher speeds than the typical cruiser rider. If I wanted to lug along on a cruiser… then I would have purchased a cruiser  I often ride with a semi-organized group of sport bike riders which consist of Honda’s, Suzuki’s, and Yamaha’s ranging from 600 – 1000cc. Many of the riders have complimented me for my ability to ‘throw’ the XX through the corners like a 600 and are downright amazed at the XX’s acceleration coming out of curves and on straight a ways. Some of the riders have also stated that they wish they had the XX’s horsepower as it ‘just walks away' from them. I currently have the stock Dunlop 205’s. I am extremely disappointed with their traction abilities for braking, acceleration, and cornering. Yes, I have ordered a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport HPX’s and cannot wait until they are on my beloved ‘Bird! In my opinion, traction is extremely important for the type of riding that I do - as I know riders who have high-sided due to traction problems (perhaps some rider error, too?). I prefer to have a performance edge – if it means that I only get 2 - 3K miles out of a tire… so be it… I enjoy riding more than I enjoy crashing! Pilot Roads may be good for your type of riding… maybe you should have bought a cruiser instead… so you can enjoy the scenery at a more leisurely, albeit grandfatherly, pace… chicken strips and all (friendly ‘jabs’… perhaps different riding styles?):kicknuts::poke: IMHO… The XX is a beautiful, heavy, and powerful predator… did I mention heavy… which demands that her talons be always sharp or she will eventually bite the hand that feeds her!
  12. Pete mentioned: 'If you have any binding with the rubber grip against the lock and/or bar weight cut out a plastic doughnut from a milk carton or what I found which was black, a microwave TV dinner tray.' After installing the throttle lock, I noticed that the grip was binding a little. As I didn't want to go through the trouble of removing and reinstalling the grip to put a 'donut' on... I rolled the grip back a little and cut off the rubber edge that goes over the ridge on the throttle tube. The modification is not noticeable and allows for more play between the grip and the throttle lock. Works fine now
  13. Too bad it won't fit :???: Do you know of any other fender eliminator kit that will fit the '02 :?:
  14. Fender Eliminator Kit: http://www.twobros.com/cgi-bin/shopper?pre...&key=013-1H1100 The product info states that it for '97-'98. Is the '02 that much different? Do you think that it will fit my '02 Bird :?: I'm looking for a decent fender mod to get rid of the 'mudflap'
  15. THANKS FOR THE INFO/INPUT! I checked the front tire for air pressure and/or wear probs... everything looks fine  It must be the roads, passenger, or GIVI bags that cause probs (or a combination of them)
