  2. Silverbird1100: how was it a pain. was installation difficult?
  3. Sorry I am not much help with the jet kit, but i am curious as to what happened that you fouled your plugs?
  4. Thanks for the info. I will go ahead and order the enire STAR kit. Probibly be a month before I can review since it has been so cold here
  5. One final question, Its squidly I know! but will this kit make it more difficult to shift gears while riding wheelies or would it make it easier?? I like the idea of never missing a 1 to 2 shift but a stiff spring could make things more difficult??
  6. rockmeupto125: Which kit do you have?
  7. Here is a link to the product http://www.solomotoparts.com/product.php?productid=23972 Here is the factory pro website link http://www.factorypro.com/ Click on the red bok in the upperleft corner that says catalog and search for the XX There are two shift kits available the one linked above for $90 and one for $200 they call a Shift STAR kit. I am totally willing to drop the coin on either kit if they are actually worth the money.
  8. I am looking at purchasing the Factory "Pro Shift Kit" the kit is only like $90 so it sounds like a pretty good deal. Anyone have one mountd up on their XX? Parts Unlimited only shows this kit available for 97-98 XX's (I dont know why it wouldn't fit an FI bike) I am looking for a little guidance in if this shift kit is worth getting. I posted this topic over on cbrxx while .org was down and still have not gotten any feedback so i hope you guys can be of better help. Thanks
  9. are you talking about the holes on the front of the cowl? where the pad would go? I'd think it would be pretty simple to just body fill the holes and repaint it, the pyramid cowls are crappy anyways. i have one and never put it on.
  10. type tires in the search bar i imagine you will find the answer to any tire question you have about your XX.
  11. I have a Dyno Jet, I also have a slight bog off idle. the flat spot in mid range is eliminated but i do have a slight bog off the bottom

    Sag settings

What is the best way to measure sag? I have heard that this is importnt but have honestly never done it because I dont really understand
  13. I was just curious if you replaced the head bearing while you were at it. are the stock head bearing the best replacements or is there a better aftermarket bearing?
  14. when do you really tuck in enough to need to look through the windscreen? i never race my xx and so i never tuck in hard enough to look through my windscreen. so for me at least the screen being opaque would be no big deal. I have actually thought about painting my windscreen to match the paint on my XX.
  15. It looks good i am anxious to see it back on the bike. but please dont put a maltese cross in it!!! Are you going to powder coat the clip ons or will they be getting polished also? how hard was it to get the top triple off? something i could do in 15 minutes?
  16. My opinion would be that a car muffler has no place on a motorcycle especially a XX. The blackbird is known as "the gentlemans super bike" its not some piece of crap squid bike. and in all honesty attaching a car muffler would look awful om short this idea is just ghetto as all hell. your stock exhaust is much much better then a car muffler. if you want it louder then just take the whole damn silencer off and run headers that would atleast look better then some sort of crap job like attaching a car muffler. you know it is entirely possible that you will LOSE power by attaching a car muffler. the reason after market cans are so expensive is because there is a good amount of engeneering that goes into them so they gain power. but as it has already been said, its your bike do what you want. but i think this is a pitful idea and a total waste of money and time in fabricating it. if you do go throught with your idea i would like to see photos AND dyno charts from before and after

  18. My XX is fitted with dual carbon fiber 2 bros slip ons. K&N air filter, & Dyno Jet Stage 1 jet kit. At this time it had factory 17T counter shaft sprocket and tires were inflated to 38psi. With this set up my 97' XX turned 135 hp, and 78 lb of torque. on a Dynojet 250 Dyno I switched to a 16T sprocket bumped the air pressure to my usual 42psi, and filled the tank with fresh cool 89 octaine gasoline and turned 137 hp, 79 lb of torque. Both runs were within 2 hours of each other on the same dyno. First run was at about 8:00pm Dyno room was 89 degrees, Second run was at around 10:00pm Dyno room was 86 degrees. My stock dyno run was done 1 week before the others on the same dyno the dyno room was 93 degrees during my baseline run. Baseline results were 131 hp and 75 lbs of torque.
  19. my girlfriend rides her own F4i and has a strict no passanger policy for me on the XX. so I figure the only time i will have to switch the cowl back to stock would be when i put the saddlebags on. But i switch the countershaft sprocket and windscreen everytime i take a trip of any significant disctance anyways so a few more minutes putting the stock cowl on would not really be much of a big deal. I still have paint left from my respray this summer so that wont be an additional cost for me.
  20. I am looking at this solo cowl, and wondering if anyone has it and how well it actually fits. I currently have a powerbronze rear seat cowl and the fit and look is pretty cheap. I am thinking that this Shark Skinz Solo Cowl may be much better. anyone have experience with it? I would still want to be able to reinstall my stock rear cowl when i put on the saddlebags but otherwise I think this looks pretty sweet. It doesnt list any for the new XX (big taillight) but that is ok because I ride a 97' which is like the bike pictured. check out the link below http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...6lr%3D%26sa%3DN
  21. Well it looks good thats for sure. I think i kind of like the idea of polishing the pegs, if the heelguards scuff who cares, it shows that you ride the thing. I have worked at Harley dealerships for a while now and anymore the thing i appreciate most on motorcycles is that they have miles on them. If you are ever in Lawrence swing out to North Lawrence we are opening up a new Harley dealership and I will be working at the parts counter. Probibly dont have anything that will fit the XX, but just so you know thats where I will be most hours.
  22. Cool thanks I may have to do that. Right now I have some pieces of the F4i out being powdercoated by a shop here in Lawrence. i should get them back next week. If they match well I will probibly stick with this guy. he seems like he actually cares how stuff turns out, we spent about 20 minutes looking through colors before getting the frame color for the F4i. Also I bought some machined frame plugs for the XX off ebay and am having them powdercoated to match the frame. depending on how well they match I will decide weather to take my swingarm to this guy in Lawrence or take you up on your offer. Your XX looks great with the black swingarm. Have you got your pegs and sets polished? That is something I have been thinking about doing to contrast with all the black. About how long does it take to remove the swingarm? I may be able to get to it sometime this week, since the weather looks shitty pretty much all week. Any reason your not running any bar ends?

    exhaust

First off let me tell you that you've got amazing taste! Leo Vince and Blue Flame are my two favorite exhausts. I personally would pick the Leo Vince There is a certain status that comes along with owning LV. The sound of the leo vince is amazing, I love the deep growl that the LV's have and if its possible they have a tuned mature sound. T he Blue Flame's sound good as well, however I dont feel the sound is quite as menacing as the LV's. but if you put on lots and lots of miles at a time the removable baffle is probibly nice to have. if I were to do it all over again I would get Leo Vince. I think you are on the right track and either exhaust is an excellent choice. You shouldnt lose sleep over your decision no matter which you decide to go with. Leo Vince and Blue Flame are my two favorites as well.
  24. My girlfriend rides an 01' F4i we would like to swap the rear wheel out for one from a 600/1000RR. Shes a small girl and a 190or 200 tire would looks plain sexy. I refuse to let her run a 190 on the 5.5" rim but the 600/1000RR wheels are 6" and I was wondering if anyone here would know if a swap is at all possible.
  25. The quality of my 2Bros sucks. The canisters rotated until I riveted them in place. The carbon fiber has faded really bad.
